  • The technique of making sandals from used motorcycle tires.
Used motorcycle tires that can be used to make sandals are large and wide motorcycle tires.
In this video I will make sandals from used motorcycle tires, but use a bisban to make it more attractive.
    The learning steps are:
    1. Cut a wide used motorcycle tire, cut according to the pattern
    2. Make a sandal sling with a bisban
    3. Make a hole in the face of the sandal, make a side incision where the sash is.
    4. Attach the sash
For more details, my friend, watch the video until it runs out ...
Hopefully this is useful and thank you for watching our video.

I would beg to differ with you. The technology the western world has requires more skill to keep the equipment going.
Besides give those sandals 2 weeks& they will be trashed. Soft rubber, no reinforcement, & then using nails to hold the top pieces? Those nails will pull through im less than two weeks & poke into their foot.

Really very beautiful and strong slippers. I remember I bought a pair of slippers when I used to go to school to study. Those slippers were very strong and beautiful. The craftsman made it with great beauty and strength , When I watched your video, old memories were refreshed. This era of fashion has taken away the art of craftsmen, which is sad, but even today I like tire slippers, but those craftsmen are lost in the darkness of anonymity. But we have to revive these arts because people are troubled by the pollution of factories. Small and domestic industries never cause pollution.

@@Butterball3588 Hubby says all they make now are Radial Tires with the metal inside. BUT they make trailer tires and stuff without the metal.
I'll check at one of those used tire places and see just how much rubber is left after the tread comes off.
I'm also going to check at a truck stop and see if they have any blown inner tubes. Semi inner tubes would be great! Brand new they are expensive!

    Very good video! Not sure how it came up on the You Tube feed, but glad it did. {I muted the sound though.}
I was very impressed the way you mounted the cutting blade into the end of the wood bench, then secured it in place with the bent nail. I was doubly impressed how you then trimmed the excess rubber from the sandal base by pulling the rubber around the blade. That was SMART.
I have tried this before when repairing / resoling some expensive work boots. The leather uppers were still useable and comfortable, but the soles had no more tread / traction lines. I often worked on concrete floors with water and some ice or frost. Very slippery. I tried using my pocketknife blades and a "Box Cutter" / "sliding razor knife" but almost cut myself several times because the rubber slab / thick plastic mat would not hold still when I tried to cut it.
I will try your method text time of pulling the rubber instead of pulling/dragging the knife blade.
I was very surprised that you used nails to affix the strap to the sandal base. I would have thought glue or leather lacing would have been used. Seems to me that nails will rip thru the rubber.
If it is not a secret, can you tell us what country / area you are in?

Sin duda aguantan mas que las se compran en las tiendas que solo aguantan 1 mes y luego quedan todas resbalosas. Muy bien y ayuda a la ecología y la pobreza. Yo las compraría si las vendieran por aqui. Gracias, thanks for showing us how to make. Good luck.

Back in Thailand in the late 70's, there was a guy in my town that recycled old car tires to make sandals and he was using the tire tubes to make the straps. He also replaced worn-out soles of soccer cleats and they were more durable than the original cleats.

In my childhood, I was wearing this type of footwear. That time I was 8 year old. Price of footwear was 5 Indian Rupee. Our family economical condition was very poor. My mom and dad was not wearing footwear because they don't have money to buy it. When people walk, they looks at the path but when I walk I looks my feet and remind my parents life journey and take myself to forward target.
