- The technique of making sandals from used motorcycle tires.
Used motorcycle tires that can be used to make sandals are large and wide motorcycle tires.
In this video I will make sandals from used motorcycle tires, but use a bisban to make it more attractive.
The learning steps are:
1. Cut a wide used motorcycle tire, cut according to the pattern
2. Make a sandal sling with a bisban
3. Make a hole in the face of the sandal, make a side incision where the sash is.
4. Attach the sash
For more details, my friend, watch the video until it runs out ...
Hopefully this is useful and thank you for watching our video.

I watched to the end to make sure somebody wore them to prove their worthiness as feet attire. The unexpected hurdles caused me to slowly nod my approval. Always exceed expectations:-)
You know as much work as he put in he wore them things until he couldn’t anymore lol.
Hi
They did this during WWII here in the USA! There is a company up north that started a business recycling tires to make shoes!

Agreed. I love watching this type of video. Necessity is the mother of invention.
Skill, and the ability to improvise like this were once common in the western world but now have been mostly forgotten.
It's a pleasure to watch just how this man creates something so essential from a discarded tyre. Thank you.

Where did he find a tire that doesn't have steel cords? Not in USA.
I would beg to differ with you. The technology the western world has requires more skill to keep the equipment going.
Besides give those sandals 2 weeks& they will be trashed. Soft rubber, no reinforcement, & then using nails to hold the top pieces? Those nails will pull through im less than two weeks & poke into their foot.
really?
I’ve always enjoyed and admired those who work their skills by hand!! Most enjoyable!!

I was a kid in the late 60s and into the 70s. Every kid in my neighborhood had a pair of these....you where very cool if you had a pair made from an old snow tire....so you had the really aggressive tread 😁

Hello
Old School Cobbler with Craftsman skills making sandals by hand, then puts sandals through the obstacle course🏃♂️. SOLD ! ! ! 👍
Really very beautiful and strong slippers. I remember I bought a pair of slippers when I used to go to school to study. Those slippers were very strong and beautiful. The craftsman made it with great beauty and strength , When I watched your video, old memories were refreshed. This era of fashion has taken away the art of craftsmen, which is sad, but even today I like tire slippers, but those craftsmen are lost in the darkness of anonymity. But we have to revive these arts because people are troubled by the pollution of factories. Small and domestic industries never cause pollution.
Great skills 👍
No joke, those sandals are better quality than most of the ones on the market.
Very well done! They look great! 👍🏻👍🏻
That's because ours are made in China out of foam! I used to buy a pair that would last about 4 or 5 years without compacting! Now, they last a couple of months and they are squished and hurt my feet!
@SandcastleDreams sounds like we ought to drop by the nearest mechanic shop, grab us a few tires and make some sandals that will last!
@@Butterball3588 Hubby says all they make now are Radial Tires with the metal inside. BUT they make trailer tires and stuff without the metal.
I'll check at one of those used tire places and see just how much rubber is left after the tread comes off.
I'm also going to check at a truck stop and see if they have any blown inner tubes. Semi inner tubes would be great! Brand new they are expensive!
In the Philippines, as youngsters we had simple sandals like these with 'x' strap.. we call them 'palagatos'. Used everyday, on playing, farm and mountain works.. super tough as they can be!
So little goes to waste here, amazing to watch simple but essential Crafts from something thrown away in the West.
Thanks for sharing ……
Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Amazing and beautiful, my only criticism is that I don't see it very functional that the strips are grabbed with nails.
After all of that, all I could think was “that is one hell of a sharp blade! Thing didn’t lose any sharpness!”
@BC 4U gotcha. Makes sense now that I really look at it! Lol
Great video .... my brother and I hand made our own leather toe sandals back in the 70's, so was great to see this. Your choice of music nearly sent me to the garage with a piece of rope : )
I bought a pair of men's sandals made from car tires many years ago. They lasted 30 years and likely thousands of miles! 😸 Would love a new pair.

These are found all over Africa and they last forever. Also, this dude has hands like Superman. You will not be able to cut them as easily as he does.
Very good video! Not sure how it came up on the You Tube feed, but glad it did. {I muted the sound though.}
I was very impressed the way you mounted the cutting blade into the end of the wood bench, then secured it in place with the bent nail. I was doubly impressed how you then trimmed the excess rubber from the sandal base by pulling the rubber around the blade. That was SMART.
I have tried this before when repairing / resoling some expensive work boots. The leather uppers were still useable and comfortable, but the soles had no more tread / traction lines. I often worked on concrete floors with water and some ice or frost. Very slippery. I tried using my pocketknife blades and a "Box Cutter" / "sliding razor knife" but almost cut myself several times because the rubber slab / thick plastic mat would not hold still when I tried to cut it.
I will try your method text time of pulling the rubber instead of pulling/dragging the knife blade.
I was very surprised that you used nails to affix the strap to the sandal base. I would have thought glue or leather lacing would have been used. Seems to me that nails will rip thru the rubber.
If it is not a secret, can you tell us what country / area you are in?

The are my favorite scandals because of their easy way of making them and their durability. I bought a pair in 2019 and i still got them.
This is a very good pair of sandals. I have a pair that I purchased from a south vietnamese road side merchant during the Vietnam war. The soles are thicker and the straps are made from inner tubes.
Very creative and the flip flops looks good too. I wish I can have a pair.

Very impressive. Easy way of earning from home.
Back in Thailand in the late 70's, there was a guy in my town that recycled old car tires to make sandals and he was using the tire tubes to make the straps. He also replaced worn-out soles of soccer cleats and they were more durable than the original cleats.
Very interesting. I remember these craftsmen making champles ( sleeper type footwear) with amazing skill. People used to demonstrate their skill in their family running business in India, back in 60's. We must promote such people and praise their work.
