The function of the major parts of the polygraph are "Pneumograph" is the one whoe records the changes of the breathing of the subject. The combination of inhalation and exhalation is what we called as respiration. We can inhale another 1,500 cc of air called as complementary air. After the normal expiration have a similar amount is exhaled a tower is called suplimentary air. The Pneumograph will be placed on the abdomen part of the subject and thd second one will be placed on the chest part of the subjects. The second one is what we called as "Galvanograph" will records the skin resistance of the subject to a very small amount of electricity is what we called OHMS. It comprisis the finger or pump electric trodes and it runs about 4 to 7 seconds when the action takes place. It is the most accurate of all the components in chart interpretation and it will be attached on the ring finger and the index finger. And the third one is "Cardiosphymograph" is thr one who record the changers of the blood pressure and the pulse rate. It will be attached 1 inch from the elbow of the subject.
The phases of polygraph involved's the "Initial inter view with the investigator handling the case" the examiner will going to gather facts about the case, interview the investigator, gather crime scene sketch, and Interview the wetness. The second is "Pre Test Interview" examiner interview and brief the subject about the case and determining his suitability as a subject. The third one is "Instrumentation/Actual test/Instrument examination" in this phase the subject is attached with the components of polygraph machine where the examiner will going to review all the questions being prepared with the subject before the actual examination is made. The question is answer by yes or no. And the last one is "Post test interview" it will include all consideration that bear on the examination just after the instrument turned off.

The three components of the polygraph instrument include the cardio-sphygmograph, the pneumograph, and the galvanograph. Blood pressure and heart rate are measured by the cardio-sphygmograph component of the polygraph, which consists of a blood pressure cuff that is wrapped around the subject’s arm. During the questioning the cuff remains inflated. The movement of blood through the subject’s veins generates a sound that is transmitted through the air in the cuff to a bellows that amplifies the sound. The magnitude of the sound relates to the blood pressure and the frequency of the changes in the sound relates to the heart rate. The pneumograph component of the polygraph records the subject’s respiratory rate. One tube is placed around the subject’s chest and a second is placed around his or her abdomen. These tubes are filled with air. When the subject breaths; changes in the air pressure in the tubes are recorded on the polygraph. The galvanograph section records the amount of perspiration produced. It consists of electrical sensors called galvanometers that are attached to the subject’s fingertips. The skin of the fingertips contains a high density of sweat glands, making them a good location to measure perspiration. As the amount of sweat touching the galvanometers increases, the resistance of the electrical current measured decreases and these changes are recorded by the polygraph.
The four phases involved in the conduct of a polygraph tests are:
    1. Initial interview with the investigator or person requesting the examination.
In this phase, the examiner gathers facts and information to the subject and after that, the formulation of questions is made.
    2. Pre-test with the person to be examined.
This is the briefing of constitutional rights or the rights of the accused to the subject and also the determination of the subject if he is physically and emotionally fit and obtaining the consent for the subject.
    3. Conduct of the instrument test with the asking of a prepared list of questions previously reviewed with the subject.
In this phase, the attachment of components to the subject is being executed and reviewing of the questions to be asked and the last is the actual test to the subject.
    4. Post-test interview with the person examined.
Analyzing and examine the tracings if there is a fluctuation.
