While the U.S. initially assessed that none of its service members were injured or killed, the U.S. Department of Defense ultimately said that 110 service members had been diagnosed and treated for traumatic brain injuries from the attack
The reasoning for that is because battle injuries are usually perceived as cuts, bruises, lost limbs, stuff like that. 60 minutes conveniently left out the fact that Iran themselves warned the US about the attack on this particular base some 6 hours prior! It was done through diplomatic channels via Iraq. That's why there were no casualties. It was a negotiated "attack"
This is a bit more nuanced than the Iranian Military and/or leadership 'warning the US' they are going to attack that base. In reality, had that been the case, only a very few individuals would've remained at the base, e.g. only those that could fit into the concrete bunkers. I believe that persons inside Iran feared the U.S. Military retaliation would be overwhelming - suicide for the Iranian Military - and for that reason warned the US. Additionally, it seems obvious that we were even aware of the times in which commercial satellites could photograph our bases. Certainly our Space Force is aware of every location and orbital position of not only commercial and military (russia, china) satellite but also of space junk so astronauts and equipment can be moved out of the way. So, not too far fetched. The hard reality is that if an enemy has ballistic missiles, they must be put in launch position and often from fixed launch sites, so we will be aware when their heat blooms begin to show. We likely could have attacked those launch sites before the launch, but I do agree that Trump didn't want war with Iran, but he made it clear to them that if they killed US personnel, their bases would be destroyed, along with specific personnel. So, likely a "face-saving" plan for Iran OR a few within their ranks thought, let's not take on the United States Military because we killed a bunch of their troops with missiles. Yet, Soliemani had killed thousands with his band of terror weapons and QUDS force fighters posing as Iraqi's during the Operation Iraqi Freedom. Of course saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. But we were all feeling the need to stomp through everywhere BUT Saudi Arabia (the true culprits). Conversely, we needed to show the hajis, everywhere, that attacking the US or it's personnel would mean them being blown to bits. Yet rebuilt with American treasure and blood, only to have the Haji's tear it all down the minute we left. (See Afghanistan).

A war with Iran with make the US loose it's superpower status and will have almost a million soldiers dead and that goes for Iran too. The US military planners have exhausted such ideas and have understood that a war with Iran will be catastrophic for both countries. Also, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE will have their cities turned into ghost cities. The king of Saudi Arabia will die in a weak of that war and Saudi monarch will end, if the US attack Iran's vital institutions then Iran will consider the same attack for Israel, Saudi oil and other civilian infrastructure. 60 minutes conveniently left out the fact that Iran themselves warned the US about the attack on this particular base some 6 hours prior! It was done through diplomatic channels via Iraq. That's why there were no casualties. It was a negotiated "attack"
In this video gen makenzy just said we saw missles refuling by satelites🤔
Well they gotta leave that out it’s got to be more dramatic remember it’s western media

I know those bunkers well, and I know that some of them didn't stand up to the initial assault back in the early 2000s. They're not impregnable. @@tdk99-i8n your a real idi0t. America is an illegal occupier in Iraq not to mention the iraq war? where that "dad" or his friends murdered iraqis.
I love how we have sympathy for soldiers and sympathy for the sovereignty of any country in the region. We need to leave these people alone.
Iran is EVIL. They'll get left alone when they stop fomenting terrorism.
@@ffjsb Your proper dumb, the United States have funded, backed, armed and created Terrorist groups, Death squads, Dictators and religious fanatics on way way way bigger of a scale than Iran does to anyone, And the people Iran backs up are people who are resisting foreign powers which happens to be the US most of time(Ironic isn't it?) and in turn Iran is accused or called what you just called them. Evil, right?
True
And when we choose not to leave them alone especially if we choose to go to war with them I think we need to properly take it over.
The notion of rebuilding a country and effectively leaving it better than we found it without taking it over is crazy
Wall street capitalists funded Hitler together with the London-based financial institutions. Wake up.
Carpet nuke iran.
Imagine how many years the other party did this in Iraq and other countries
Iran and Iraq’s relationship is very strong, America is the country that took over iraq and set base up making it a warzone , making people’s backyards bunkers, not to mention all the innocent people that were killed in other wars because America raided and took over for some oil lol
Yep, keeping the shtheads there instead of allowing them to bring the fight here. Thank you to all our US Armed forces for bringing death upon our enemies in their country and keeping it out of ours! America Bless God for His Blessings and Provisions.... Merica!
@@tedh9211 Genuine question but who are like the enemies of USA that you are referring to? There's quite a few so not sure
@@tedh9211 So basically you're saying America is defenseless if they got invaded? Having served, I'm not knocking any of my brothers no matter what country they are from, we are all protecting OUR land, while chumps like you are screaming glory. It's just oppression, because America is scared of the reality that they aren't in control. When was the last time America was victorious? And no sport doesn't count.
@@slingitsideways is English your first language? You completely misquoted me. Your question doesn't even make sense. I said the US Embassy in Baghdad was going to be overrun by 50,000 Hezbollah Iranian militants that had gathered in Baghdad outside of the green zone. They were waiting for Soleimani to arrive to direct the attack and (after) then to proceed to overrun the air base. I know because my son was there at the US Embassy in Baghdad during this event. The marines, delta and contractors would have killed most, if not all of the 500000 Iranian young male militants during the impending attack. Killing Soleimani meant that those young Iranian men did not die. That is a good thing. You need to read better or just ask someone else to interpret for you. "Glory" wtf, I didn't even use that word. I'm for protecting life not "glory". Get an interpreter.
God with you Iran 🇮🇷❤️🤲 I pray for your nation in your blessed fight against the occupiers
I guess my only question is why wasn’t there any Patriots batteries in the base?
There was, just like there was in Saudi Aramco, and they just couldn’t stop the attack!
Or cwis?? Like aren’t we supposed to be prepared for this
@@augustgade7084 the purposely let the missled hit so iran could have their revenge and they can begin de-escalation. Iran also warn the us about the missle attack so americans could get to their bunkers and won't be killed it was all very political
Patriot missile batterys suck. A Phalanx could have intercepted some.
Because this happened with Iran’s and US’s mutual understanding. US satellites can monitor the movement of an aunt running on the ground. How come they couldn’t notice movement of Iranian ballistic missiles and destroyed them as Israel did in Syria?
Im so happy Johnson made it out, really made me feel like i lost someone i new even tho i never knew them
Displaying political bias and misrepresenting the situation in your first sentences; now that's impressive for a "journalist".

Describing the relationship as poisonous is fair up until now. People have been killed which is what the episode is about. A better adjective could have been used but that was probably chosen for the shock value more than anything else. Think u are blowing things out of proportion a little
