Rick just loves music. Jazz, pop, rock, symphonic. If it's good, he appreciates it. Absolutely one of the best guys in the space. He's so knowledgeable and positive.
We need more guys like him appreciating art in a way he can help us appreciate it alongside him.

@VirtualWoodshed… if I thought for a damned weekend I would not have been able to put my sentiments into those words, but they are 100!!!
And I have to be honest, while a completely different approach, I have had very similar reactions to Adam Reader, AKA, The Professor of Rock. Again different styles & format, but also ridiculously knowledgeable!!

I saw blink-182 before Travis Barker was in the band and didn’t think much of them then. Once Travis joined the band, I think it unlocked the musicianship that was there all along; the songs on enema, jacket, and blink-182 aren’t just pop punk, they are, progressive rock masterpieces. It’s a hill I will die on.

Blink were serious musicians, even though they were writing less serious songs that went hand in hand with late 90s early 00s coming of age, party movies, their arrangement was perfect and best of all was that nothing is too much and getting in the way, there’s no too much drums, guitar is not too heavy, everything is in perfect balance. Great musicians! That’s Jazz orchestra level and it’s insane that it comes from 90s pop punk band…
