- Olympic gymnast Simone Biles made history this week after becoming the first woman to win five all-around titles at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Biles joins TODAY to talk about her big win, saying she credits her coaching team for her victory. She also discussed wearing a teal leotard in support of sexual abuse survivors, her personal life outside the gym and her hopes to head to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Summer Games.

Simone took a 14 month break and resumed training 9 months ago. I believe the interviewer said she took a 9 month break.

I actually cried watching it lol I mean, I love her! She is incredibly talented and so humble and most importantly I love the fact that she stands up for all the survivors even though usa gymnastics have done nothing to them.

Simone is the first female to win the all around comp five times. Dominique Dawes was the last athlete to win a clean sweep at one nationals (AA and all apparatus).
No one said Simone was the first. They mentioned after the competition that Simone was the first *since* Dominique. The record she broke was winning 5 AA titles. Btw Dominique is one of my old school favs too
Daniel Gourdine Dawes has only won 1 US Championship whereas Simone now has the most wins at 5. You're thinking of the fact that both Biles and Dawes have now won 5 gold medals at a single US Championship.

this is the first I have heard of it (and i thought it looked more mint than teal). I loved the color and now am glad to know there is a meaning. However teal is also the color for ovarian cancer awareness. Both issues hit close to home for me.

Mehh. She won't win uneven bars gold for sure at world's or olympic level. It's not USA's best event. That's why the US has only won bars one time at the Olympics. In 1984 Los Angeles, in a boycotted games💀. And it was a tie to a superior routine💀🤣 from Ma Yanhong.
