I visited the Westfield UTC San Diego store. It looks fantastic 🙂. . . so much better than the prototype on display at the Peterson museum! The workers aren't allowed to open them or do anything until after November 30th.
In the 20 minutes I was there 30+ people came in to look at the Cybertruck. Single guys, couples, families with excited kids . . . it was a pretty exciting event feel!
Disappointing that the 500 mile range wasn’t met.
Since they have a huge backlog of orders it makes total sense to start with the shorter range model so they can maximize battery supply. As 4680 batteries ramp they will add the longer range model.@@Sacko2008
@@Sacko2008only tri motor is supposed to be 500+ mile range. Dual motor was always 350 mile range. Seems to be almost exactly the range they announced 4 years ago.
No need to be disappointed with this news

Wild weekend it was. Also the lawsuit by X against Media Matters was filed.

Musk buying Twitter was his dumbest move ever.

I drove a Tesla model 3 standard in Tampa 2 years ago while on vacation. I got back to the Airbnb and put a Cybertruck on order.
Clicking on, an ad appeared for Lincoln "Aviator." Good model name. But I was surprised to learn that "Lincoln" still exists. Forgot about that name...
Oh wow that’s nearby! Going to check it out asap!
Saw a couple Cybertrucks northbound on 101 south of San Jose this afternoon
Thank you for great coverage!!
I saw it! I saw it! I am in San Jose on vacation and went by the store. Thanks for the heads up. Very different in person. First day and alot of interest. It is a halo car that grabs attention. Manager said many people
Had never seen a Tesla until tonight. This will be a game changer.
Thank you, Rob..❤
The smoke from Falcon Heavy on launch made a star
Thanks Rob. 😀
Thanks Rob
The Cybertruck is also at International Mall in Tampa, Florida. The employees said it just arrived this morning at 9am. I stayed there for about an hour. There was HIGH & CONSTANT interest. 2 interesting things I noticed while I was there: the idea that if they put the Cybertruck on display, that will bring attention to the other cars is accurate. It was almost like a natural progression for people to look in awe at the truck and then be like “oh neat, what about these other cars?”. 2nd interesting thing was the sheer number of people that asked “what is this? What is this called?”. That blew my mind to realize that, in 2023, there are people that never knew the Cybertruck existed.
Very eventful weekend to say the least
Thanks Rob! Things getting spicy before many of us here in the USA go off to family and friends for Thanksgiving. I will be very grateful for NOT owning shares in GM/Cruise or being employed at OpenAI which might not "open" by Christmas. Talk about excitement. What will happen tomorrow?
Hi Rob, thanks.

Tesla should advertise on their pedestals at charging stations. Starting in 2025, they’ll have free ads versus their competitors
"Tesla should advertise on their pedestals at charging stations. Starting in 2025, they’ll have free ads versus their competitors"
They don't have any large screens on those.
Superchargers should have never been shared.
Ineffective advertising. "Preaching to the choir" does not convert the unaware.
@@FrunkensteinVonZipperneck about 10% of new vehicle sales are EVs. So that grows to 20-25% in two years. 50% of the cars give or take aren’t Teslas. They own the stations so putting a small screen running their ads costs them next to nothing and answers some common questions. No way the ROI doesn’t work out
In Austin, hoping to go to the delivery event.....
interesting that CT demo's are appearing in stores. That's a first for Tesla.
Wrt to the CT, the 2,500 lbs payload capacity limit might be due to trying to keep the total weight below the 10,000 lbs limit on the vehicle classification. 2,500 lbs payload + approximately 6,700 lbs vehicle weight leaves only 10,000 - 2,500 - 6,700 = 800 lbs of weight limit for the occupants.
Is range of 348 miles with full load or without load?
Thanks for not over hyping tesla
It has been reported that starship’s first stage was a normal explosion and not self destruct system being used.
One minor addition Rob. Yes, Starship first stage continued firing three of its Raptors during staging. Perhaps even more significant, the second stage separated by firing its engines at the same time.
That's what he said basically, that's hot staging.
Maybe the 11,000 pounds and 2,500 pounds are typos too 😂
After the Cybertruck unveiling it was redesigned so it was 5% smaller and had the seating reduced from 6 seater to a 5 seater! This probably explains the smaller payload! The version described is probably the dual motor version!!
the same source said ~350 mile range for the dual motor with the 122 kwh battery
it sounded more to me like that was Ryan's speculation on top, but perhaps I didn't catch it all
@@TeslaDaily there was also a post on X from @marc_benton stating 122kwh battery and 350 mile range from a "reliable source". FWIW. We will know for sure in 9 days, can not wait!
I’ll bet the next generation vehicle is going to have a lot of cyber truck components in it.
The de Lorean of trucks.
Go Rob!! Great videos!!
I am a fan of yours and Tesla I want this to be helpful you need to add to your list of trucks all of the Ford lineup
More like, Cruise-LESS "Cruise"! Guess, Mary will be up for another big-bonus after leading GM to being the "front-runner" in Autonomous Driving technology! 🤪
If we assume it's the dual motor variant with 300 miles of range then all those numbers match exactly or are better than what was promised during the unveiling. I take this as a good sign and I hope the tri motor version will also deliver as advertised three (?) years ago.
I’m curious what towing range it will get with 122 kWh battery. I think GM’s Silverado EV get the best towing range of 250 miles with 212 kWh battery.
Definitely the tri motor
@@kingiam9271so far it seems it's the dual motor. That's what the leaks say and one employee that was driving the CT on the streets. Also the poster in this episode of Tesla daily.
Except the bad payload is 2500 not 3500 I think this is solely to keep the truck in the weight category, and it would be fine at 3500
@@alanrickett2537 Could be.....but the words in the advert were pointing to the bed and saying "Ultra-tough SMC bed, up to 2,500 lb payload". We don't know if that's just the payload for the bed by itself, or the overall payload including 5 people and frunk (which could easily account for the 1,000 lb difference). We'll have to wait till we get the full specs to see.
Slight note, the booster has not been confirmed to be FTS, yet. (I dont think it was)
How does a typo make it on a Tesla display…?
Ejicashun ? 🤫🏴🇺🇸🏴
1,000,000 orders, wow!
The majority of the people that will buy this truck won't come close to putting 2500 pounds in the bad, or tow a trailer. Lots of talk about specs when people will buy it as a lifestyle vehicle to drive kids to school, and do grocery shopping. LOL
"Exoskelton" now means: partially or slightly exoskeleton.
😉
Doesn't all automotive glass resist shattering? It's all safety glass.
CT used Aluminum oxynitride. Or that was the original plan.
Thank you very much for emphasizing that the activation of the FTS terminated the respective flights rather than the clickbait "exploded" hype. A huge boon to your credibility and integrity.
What is your take on Lucid Gravity?
Amazing,mindblowing and gamechanging!
Gravity's going down.
The cyber truck needs to have the range for towing . They should sell the TRI motor first to the customer that ordered and needs the cyber truck for a working truck to tow . Otherwise , the diesel trucks will be choice for work trucks .
How will we super charge at the charge stations with a trailer? A cyber truck towing a bull dozer ? 😂
The booster did not activate its flight termination.
I hope Tesla put all the cybertrucks in Obstacle Aware Acceleration mode as a default before delivery. This truck is a beast but you don’t want to be the one who is being run over.
Thanks Rob!
You said that Tesla has literally a million orders. I thought it was two million orders? (Or, to be more precise, orders for two million.)
“Literally” and “Virtually” tend to get confused on the Interweb. I’m ahead of the game. I can get confused on my couch. . .😊
I wish Tesla would reveal the number.
Musk said "over one million" on the last call. Some people like to make claims based on reservation numbers but those aren't official and could be misleading.
Introducing FSD in China makes a lot of sense so I wouldn't be surprised if soon people are allowed to test it there.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video and praise to Elon Musk for pushing design boundaries and defying the critics. Tesla has put a ton of effort in this production product launch relative to past vehicle launches. This may be one of the few times a new Tesla product is entering a segment where other volume EVs exist.
Elon Musk told all his existing/future customers a Tesla is an appreciating asset. 2019 - 'Elon Musk says it's 'basically crazy to buy any other car but a Tesla''. In 2023, with auto finance rates hovering around 9%, a $60K Cybertruck w/20% down for 60 months (taxes, title, fees rolled into the loan) = approximately $1,150/month.
I think 5hey are trying to bring share price down as they missed their buy in at 1o8$
122kWh usable implies battery is 7P,192S for 800V, 1344cells, 91Wh usable for cell, 95 Wh nominal. Likely a large pack would be 10P,192S, 800V, 1920 cells for 174kWh pack and 430 mile range.
Towing and capacity are disappointing
If the board of OpenAI is truly believing its product, then AI should be the CEO. Don't you think?
Maybe it already is. . .
Tesla needs to add a "nag" to the steering wheel and make a dinging sound and not just make a vehicle RED in the blind spot when changing lanes.
It's a military 🪖 vehicle
👍
If General AI is about to become reality then FSD is very very possible and could happened within a two year window if not sooner.
Wonder if they would make a single cab version with a longer bed and/or a short wheelbase version with no rear bed and a hatchback type smaller boot... so like a Cyber Range Rover. So entire front end remains same across the range, development costs stay relatively cheap but they increase the market.
Why is this not coming to the rest of the world? Why have HGVs on UK roads and large vans so it is a myth that this would not fit on our roads. I believe the guy, Daniel, from Ashville Aggregates had put money down for 2 but now looking to get his deposits back now it is no coming here.
TESLA might make a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple version. But let's get ONE actual version on the road before worrying about ridiculosities.
@@FrunkensteinVonZipperneck They are on the road and soon to be selling in 9 days. Making different versions of standard cars is fairly normal i.e. Vauxhall Astra estate, saloon and hatchback. The CT has the potential to outsell F150 (not the 250 or 350) … the regular Ford full-size p/u … if the base 2-motor has 350 real world range and the tri-motor has 500-600 nominal range with 250-300 mile towing capability then I believe CT will dominate the segment. Of course Tesla needs to scale their 4680 and get their build technique efficiency optimized but in 1-2 years … I’m sure Jim Farley understands this … the p/u business is Ford’s bread and butter and there’s real competition on the horizon with CT
Not if Tesla doesn’t build more than 250k/year.
good point ! Tesla will need to ramp significantly greater than 250k/ annualized run rate … more like 350-400k (and that’s assuming reduction of F150 annual sales are conquest going to Tesla) … I understand ford sells about 600k F150/year

I am more bullish on tesla after recent elon news.
Rivian is offering a free wall charger and subsidized installation with vehicle purchase. This is a brilliant way of expanding the EV market. Most people will not hire an electrician to properly add a wall charger. The resulting experience will create more evangelists. Tesla understood how critical superchargers on thruways were to early adopters. The chargers that matter now are residential.

Microsoft will likely take advantage of the chaos at OpenAI and secure a majority stake once the value drops.
And a board seat. And different structure to prevent such shenanigans in the future.
I agree tho that MSFT will own more than 50% of OAI if the brain trust returns/stays.
They’ll own a lot more if OAI is a shell of itself and MSFT has the brain trust in their own conglomerate since other owners would flee and MSFT would have to step up and keep OAI alive to fulfill the needs short term to keep ChatGPT and the rest functioning and improving until the new team develops products that can outdo it. That might take a while.
A lot of stuff will change but MSFT will be the only corporate partner for the foreseeable future.
There’s a chance of a total takeover imho
The launch of Cybertruck is genius as it reinvigorates the Tesla’s buyer market (i.e., current and future generations), while accelerating new vehicle buyers (e.g., truck market) to look at Tesla’s value vs. other options in the marketplace. Cybertruck = Free advertisement, which will pay Tesla dividends/accelerate customer acquisition for years to come. Brilliant chess move Elon 😊🤠💪😎
Dividends? Tesla?
"Ultra-hard stainless-steel EXOSEKELTON"... hopefully Tesla is not into advertisement and marketing... geez
Tesla needs more service and collision centers. You should not have to drive to the next state to get your vehicle repaired. Northern Indiana is a Tesla service and collision repair desert. Have to go to Chicago suburbs for repairs. What a traffic nightmare. Tesla needs to think about service centers like they think about charging stations. You should only have to drive so far before you find one.
They are expanding.
Tech & automotive has some very dramatic and compelling stories, whether it's Lee Jae-Yong running Samsung from his prison cell due to a scandal that rocked South Korea while their Galaxy Note 7 smartphones burst into flames and Samsung stock somehow steadily climbed, Henry Ford's vocal support of Germany's former leader who among his other crimes forever ruined the toothbrush moustache, John DeLorean's questionable funding strategies, or Carlos Ghosn being spirited away from his Japanese hotel room in an instrument case by mercenaries hired to rescue him. Musk actually seems to be one of the more grounded of this lot, while continuing a tradition of controversy.
The next generation vehicle for the next vehicle is a mistake. They should build the next vehicle based on current technology. BYD can build cheaper cars with current technology so Tesla should be able to do the same. The next gen will have lots of issues and delays, so Tesla should not rely solely on that.
Maybe they want to make a better car than a BYD. I have yet to see how BYD fares in crash testing.
I was misled by very high buyer interest with CT Pre orders.

Well, cancelling production would make sense because of the slow 4680 ramp, Tesla just don’t have enough cell to properly ramp both the Semi and the Cybert production and I recon Semi would be more profitable too
Semi would also take most diesel miles of the road. Since a truck owned by a private individual will spend a lot more time parked than a semi owned by a company.
@@Keneo1 100%, not to mention that the whole pickup “truck” segment in the US is a deliberate marketing scam of the ICE industry to dodge safety and emissions regulations, literally no one needs a truck, people just want them because of intense marketing campaigns in the past 20 years. I recon it’s a big mistake that Tesla rides the same bullshit wave just because elon finds it cool, it doesn’t help the quick transition to sustainability as stated as core mission.
The Semi uses 2170 cells, which means that CT and Semi don't compete on cell supply.

On Cybertruck being a distraction, you are wrong Rob. It could be even be a strategic blunder to introduce a high price price vehicle during recessionary times ( i hope i am wrong). Until recently, Musk dismissed a low cost vehicle as not necessary since FSD would make all Tesla vehicles not only low cost but a revenue source. At a quarterly call sometime in 2020-2021 (I need to find the exact call and the recording), Musk responded to an analyst question about the "low cost car" by emphatically stating that FSD would make all Tesla cars low cost since FSD would allow Tesla vehicles to become a revenue source rather than an expense. Well, FSD is still not ready for prime time, Musk misjudged progress on FSD once again and now no low cost car when most needed.

Sounds like the 500 mile tri-motor is not going to be available. I have no use for a 300 mile truck in the mountains of northern New Mexico. There are no near by superchargers and you wouldn't be able to tow far enough to be of any use. I guess we have to wait for better batteries and maybe some charging stations in the area.
