Great details. Enjoyed watching each progress. Masking is one of the most tedious works but in the end its all worth it. Especially when need to do color separations. And thanks for all descriptions on each step you did. The shield work is something else. Hahaha. Well done! ❤️👍👍
The compound result on the shield is great! (I was wondering if it actually makes much difference, but even in the video it showed the shine difference.) Question: for the cement around 29:48 of the video, any issues with cementing parts that have the layer of paint as contact points? Isn’t it paint-on-paint instead of plastic-on-plastic?
Thank you! Since it’s cement, it’s basically acetone. It’ll work, but you have to put slightly more generously since it’ll have to melt the paint layer first before the plastic. It’s fine for places that is invisible from the outside and won’t receive any force(so removing seamline is a no no). And for that particular skirt part, the female part has little paint on it since it’s the inside part that I didn’t specifically paint(might have some overspray but I didn’t specifically aim at it) Sometimes if it’s a painted part on painted part it’ll be slightly weaker, but if you put a slightly more generous amount and press hard it’ll stick. Just won’t stand as much pressure/force as say a plastic on plastic cemented seamline, etc.
may i ask a question?.....im new to the hobby and learning alot in a short time the wealth of knowledge has been invaluable.....but this is actually the first time im seeing it What is the wet sanding and compound for? what does it do
IPA is Isopropyl Alcohol You should be able to buy it locally for cheap. Try getting 91% alcohol and up for easier paint removal. Usually they sell 70% alcohol and label it rubbing alcohol, it’ll work but might take a little longer and more scrubbing with a toothbrush to get the paint off.
just out of curiosity couldnt you order the ultra thin width painters masking tape made for pin striping and such and use that instead of having to tediously cut out all the tape
Sure I can but it won’t do much for curved shapes. Also the original side of the tapes aren’t that clean cut and sometimes has small/super tiny tears that will give jagged edges and not as clean of a result. Cutting on my own will reduce the chances of that happening.
The scene of taking off the masking tape is always fun :)
Always my Favourite part of the build 😁

Beautiful work. I really gotta build a Wave FSS kit.
My man~~~
Thanks for stopping by 😆
2:40 bandai need to do this for some of their kits. Nubmark is annoying for OOB builder like me..
The one kit where they did it properly is the MG hyaku shiki 2.0
It’s a coated kit, and mostly properly undergated too 😁

Wet sanding is usually done to reduce dust.
But it also helps in reducing scratches which is the main point in this glossy build.
Hello. I am wondering what is the IPA you used to remove paint? I have a kit I need to do it. Is there an alternative to the branded solvent?
