Just a note about picking rhubarb I learned after loosing rhubarb plants. I couldn't understand why my plants were dying. I asked my Mom. She asked how I was picking & I said I was cutting the stems. She told me to never cut, always pull the stalks. Since then, I have beautiful, healthy rhubarb. The video was excellent! Good job working solo!
You probably won't read this since it was posted 3 years ago. I had a bag of frozen rhubarb and mint growing in my aerogarden and thought what the heck. I made the tea and the crisp along side your video. Both came out wonderful. Thx!
Omg!! One of my fav GA videos. Do more of these, Laura. And yes, Aaron can use his fancy videos if he wants. But this was great too. It is so inspiring. I love how much you enjoy your home. So much love to you guys. May God always bless you and yours with happiness and health.
Every other day I check if you have new blog for me to watch. I love watching your blogs, sometimes even if I already watch it I’m going to watch it again. Just to entertain my eyes with your beautiful garden. I wish I have a garden like yours here in the Philippines.
Awesome video. You did great on filming it. Crisp looks so tasty. The tea in those pretty glasses - oh my word!!! Such a treat. Hope you enjoyed the fruits of your labor! That rhubarb grew so big already. 🍓🥮🍦🍹
Your informal vlogs are my favorite. I think a video like this feels more genuine than if it were super produced. I do like the more formal professional videos, but the blogs are like a little behind the scenes treat.
Monty Don- Gardener's World, recommends only breaking stems, not cutting. I think the concern is w/disease. ALSO, thanks so much for the composting info, I had no idea.
Hey I just wanted to honor you on Arbor Day here in NY- THANK YOU THANK YOU for All you do for the planet - with growing trees plants flowers.. you and your beautiful family’s love helps us all! Continue to plant
Love this video, love rhubarb! My great grandmother always picked us rhubarb from her garden and we ate it raw, dipped in sugar as a treat. She also made delicious pies, crisps, and cakes with rhubarb. I grow it in my garden and always think of my dear great grandma Varga.
My grandparents said you could only pick rhubarb in June. NOT TRUE..... I started with 1 plant and picked it heavily the first year it turned into 2 plants. Then the next year I again picked it heavily and shared with neighbors and 2 plants turned into 6. Now I have a mass that does stay confined to one spot but it's gorgeous. I'll send you a pic. Leaves are poisonous so I leave them at the base of the plant and do not put them in compost pile. The whole thing gets a good covering of leaves in the fall before it snows. Mine is mulched so I can stick my hand down in the dirt.. Must love that good ole Minnesota manure. Here it's considered a weed. Go figure..... Weed crisp tastes pretty good to me. I also freeze small cut up pieces (2 cups) to a package so when it snows here I can cook some. Thanks
Oh yeah and sprinkle some corn starch in with the strawberries/rhubarb and the juice with get thick and oh so yummy......about a tablespoon. It looked great!
I haven’t even watched the video yet but I know I’m going to enjoy it! I love your enthusiasm and energy because it’s very contagious. I love that you are always positive, the sweet relationships you have with Aaron and Benjamin, and the rest of your family. It’s refreshing in this day and age. I am in healthcare and this is really a difficult time in which to work. I watch your videos before and after work to keep my spirits lifted and learn new things. So thank you so much! We have extended family in Emmett, Idaho. I might visit them one day and just stop in at the garden center! I live in east central Ohio and hydrangeas are my favorite! 😊
Laura make sure you also put some type of wire around the eves of the builiding. I see gaps between the walls and the ceiling. A varmint can get there and raise heck in your coop. Just talking from exprience. I had that happen to my bantams last year. It was a sad day.
I LOVED this video! Often we see when you harvest for a flower arrangement. It was nice to see what you make with you're kitchen harvest. I love garden to table practicality.
This was such a cozy video. I love your videos in general, but whenever you feel like whipping out the camera for an impromptu vlog is fine by me. Also so happy to see the chickens. Been waiting for an update 😊
Coffee with Laura and some cooking how fun is that! Love the pitcher and glasses they almost look like Princess House crystal. Like another person said you are so good at romancing the ordinary and it is great to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor!!!!
Loved the video today. I am all about your landscaping but have so enjoyed the combination of the plant, chickens and cooking today. Your mother's term "romancing the ordinary" has become my favorite saying. I wish I had thought of that concept-reasoning when I was young. Maybe you could bring more of that in some of your videos as well. If you ever run out of ideas from the landscaping, "romancing the ordinary" would be a good addition. I am a detail person and loved watching you make tea and covering it with a towel in the fridge. Loved the pitcher and glass set too.
You're a natural for this UA-cam stuff. Absolutely adorable. Great info always. And we all love hanging out with you, no matter what the topic of the day might be. ♡
Rhubarb, (I will have to try it now), strawberries, mint tea, the chickens, Aaron's face @11:30, pretty glasses and pitcher, what's not to love about this video....? ❤❤❤❤Thank you.
I love that you incorporated the actual use of the food you are growing into your video. Lots of us can grow food but don't know fully how to process it properly from garden to table. If that makes sense? Love your ice tea set! Thankyou Laura!🏡💐🍒
I agree with everyone else, I loved this! I love how you guys just take us along with your day! Thank you for all the work you do and information you share!
Loved the combination garden, chicken and cooking video, and especially your vintage set. You did a great job. Enjoy your tea/desert with your lovely family👍💖
My transplanted rhubarb plants are just coming up and yeah they grow fast in the spring. I was told never to harvest more than one third of the plant at a time and to ignore it in the first year. Probably a handful won't hurt as it is a pretty tough plant. Yours is really green though - I've got a heirloom variety from a friend that dates back over 100 years from her family farm and it is red from the crown to the leaves. The leaves are great for crafting garden stones but yes not for eating. Heard that a frost in the fall will push the oxalates (nasty chemicals) into the stems so it is best not to harvest after that, too. Yeah for the chick update and way to go Aaron for sneaking into the corner.
Love love this video format. After all, I can't be the only gardener who's fervent about planting and lazy on harvesting. This gives me incentives to go harvest more.
Laura, the video was just fine as it was. Can almost taste that rhubarb. Here in New Hampshire our rhubarb has just emerged...finally, so no rhubarb anything for a wee bit yet.
The video turned out great !!!!!!!! Loved it 💕💕💕💕💕💕 I like that you added the cooking portion 😊😊 and I too am a “nerd” 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓 I always talk to my animals ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
I loved your cooking video. I want to plant some rhubarb this year. We are replacing our shed, taking out some bushes and then there will be a perfect spot for it. Thank you. Love the chickens too!
You did a great job filming this video! I LOVED seeing the sempervivum bunny! When you did the unboxing over a year ago I immediately ordered semps from mountain crest gardens. I made a beautiful vertical frame. Then you did yours a year later and omg I wanted to redo mine! I did find that just the sphagnum moss wasn’t enough. I had to redo it and add some soil. It is much happier now! A pricy project but the payoff is so worth it! I ENJOY every video!
Love the pitcher and glasses. My friend eats her Rhubarb like celery with just salt. I can't stand it. It is so bitter. I should get some from her and make the crisp for our card night. I bet they would love it. Thanks for posting that. Can't wait to see the next one!
Perfect video!! I would love to see more on how you use your produce in recipes! I would also love to “go along” with you to an antique store sometime. You have exquisite taste and so does your mom! I remember her “romancing the ordinary” and preparing for guests, so I use fresh flowers from our garden in our home, and add them to the guest room and bath now.
Watching from Norway, can't wait for my strawberries and rhubarb to start growing now 🤤 My husband will love this recipe, but he will dig in once it's out of the oven 🤣 I hope that one day you and your family will come to Norways Lofoten Islands so we can meet. I really want to show you around the most amazing places and local plants we can offer. You have inspiered me to quit being a truck(lorry) driver and start gardening full time.
Thanks for sharing the recipes! I have eaten rhubarb since childhood. We used to pick stocks off the plant and dip them in powdered sugar as we ate them. The fore-runner of Sour Patch Kids. 😚 love the cooking addition to your video!
OMG. Love love love the video. By all means do more of them really enjoyed The Change-Up. And for what it's worth as much as we enjoy Aaron you did just fine without his help LOL
A mixed bag is extra fun! That rhubarb has gotten SO big and the crisp looked delicious. Confession...I've never tried rhubarb, guess I will now. I've been wondering about the chickens. I remember you saying how Benjamin likes to go out there first thing. Guess he takes after his mama. 💚🌿🐓😊
Thought it was a great first effort in shooting a cooking video! Recommend some corn starch to thicken the filing juice if you like that texture. Looks yummy!
Just loved it Laura !! Very nice to see what you do with your crops! Farm to Table. You handled it just like a pro! I lived in Iowa for 45 years of my life where rhubarb is everywhere. I never knew the leaves were poison and I always thought it wasn't ripe until the stems turned red! I always learn something watching you!
This explains why I don't have a good crop. I've always cut it. This year the knife is staying in the house!
My mother used to make strawberry rhubarb pies from a patch in our yard. I haven't had it since I was a kid. Nice memories.
i have some wonderful memories of my childhood :) kinda beautiful to see this .. makes me all fuzzy n weepy :)
You probably won't read this since it was posted 3 years ago. I had a bag of frozen rhubarb and mint growing in my aerogarden and thought what the heck. I made the tea and the crisp along side your video. Both came out wonderful. Thx!
The succulent bunny💕 @3:10
I loved seeing you bake and using things from your garden!!
Everytime I watch your videos it's like spending time with a sweet friend! Bless you and thank you for sharing your life with us!
Omg!! One of my fav GA videos. Do more of these, Laura. And yes, Aaron can use his fancy videos if he wants. But this was great too.
It is so inspiring. I love how much you enjoy your home. So much love to you guys. May God always bless you and yours with happiness and health.
Jeez! Is there anything you CAN'T do?!!! Who ARE you, and where do you get all this energy?!! You're a delight!
Aaron's face at 11:30 made my day. 😁 He is so precious, I love you both so much! ❤❤
Gardening AND cooking! Yay!
Every other day I check if you have new blog for me to watch. I love watching your blogs, sometimes even if I already watch it I’m going to watch it again. Just to entertain my eyes with your beautiful garden. I wish I have a garden like yours here in the Philippines.
Grabbing my coffee for my morning date with Laura in the garden!!
You're as great with baking as you are teaching us about gardening!
This video has perfect timing! I just found rhubarb growing in my yard last night and I have absolutely no experience with it!
It's healthy to sit and have a heart to heart with your chickens.I do it every day. X
I think your camera work was great. The crip looks yummy and the pitcher and set of glasses are perfect for an old timey treat.
Awesome video. You did great on filming it. Crisp looks so tasty. The tea in those pretty glasses - oh my word!!! Such a treat. Hope you enjoyed the fruits of your labor! That rhubarb grew so big already. 🍓🥮🍦🍹

I had chickens for years and I would visit and talk to them constantly. They're very calming creatures, I miss those girls.

I was a little worried about the effects of the hot tea and then refrigeration on the antique glass pitcher but relieved it's ok!! Love!
I was worried about the pitcher, too! It's so lovely.

Looks yummy! Gardening...cooking...crafts...animals...I love watching it all. Doesn't matter to me as you always bring me joy!
I had never had rhubarb until a year ago when a niece made a rhubarb strawberry pie. It is now my favorite type of pie.
I LOVED this video! Often we see when you harvest for a flower arrangement. It was nice to see what you make with you're kitchen harvest. I love garden to table practicality.
Gardening and cooking in one video...yes please!!! That crisp looked delicious Laura. I will definitely be trying this recipe 👍🏼
I enjoyed the farm to table theme...please make more videos like this!🌞 The crisp and tea look delicious!
Rhubarb and banana is also one of our favourite combinations.
Love the idea of showing us what to do with our garden treats! The glasses are precious. Romance the ordinary all the way
This was such a cozy video. I love your videos in general, but whenever you feel like whipping out the camera for an impromptu vlog is fine by me. Also so happy to see the chickens. Been waiting for an update 😊
This video was great. Rhubarb is one of those things that just says spring to me.
You’re Rocking it Laura!🏆💕
Mmmm..yum! Love the vintage glasses and jug! And if u add a little bit of cornstarch to the fruit it won't be as liquidy 😉
Coffee with Laura and some cooking how fun is that! Love the pitcher and glasses they almost look like Princess House crystal. Like another person said you are so good at romancing the ordinary and it is great to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor!!!!
Thanks for sharing! It looks like your crisp turned out wonderful, and your video was very enjoyable. Hope you guys had a great evening!!
What a nice mixed bag 😂. Always a pleasure, nice to see your crops in action. Thank you 💞🙏

Loved the video. I wouldn’t mind seeing other videos like this with other garden veggies and fruits!!
You're a natural for this UA-cam stuff. Absolutely adorable.
Great info always. And we all love hanging out with you, no matter what the topic of the day might be. ♡
You did a great job filming the video without all the extra lights etc. the crisp is great warm too with ice cream. Yum.
I grew up with a lot of rhubarb pie. My Grandpa would even make a rhubarb wine.
What does rhubarb taste like?? Loved you showing how you use something you grow!! More recipes please!
Megan Wright Rhubard tastes really tart, bordering on bitter, with a celery-like twinge.
I love to see videos Where you are incorporating your own grown food.
Yes, love the new mix of lifestyle and cooking!
I’d love to see more recipes like this where you grab things already in your garden! Can’t wait to see the chicken coop all done!
Pretty glass and pitcher set! I love antiquing for treasures! So satisfying to use your own harvest! 🌱🌱🌱
Lovely ASMR!
Rhubarb, (I will have to try it now), strawberries, mint tea, the chickens, Aaron's face @11:30, pretty glasses and pitcher, what's not to love about this video....? ❤❤❤❤Thank you.

Thankyou Laura!🏡💐🍒
Thank you!! This was awesome.
Laughed so hard at Arons face when you told him no. Poor guy... You guys are adorable lovely family thank you
You rocked the cooking segment all in your own. Just perfect!
Loooooove. Thank you for the cooking show!!!
Also, as a Texas Woman, seeing someone make tea and not add sugar. It baffles me. 😂
I'm a 67 year old Texan and never add sugar. 😊❤
You should do more cooking videos using the things you grow. Loved this video.
I agree with everyone else, I loved this! I love how you guys just take us along with your day! Thank you for all the work you do and information you share!
Loved the combination garden, chicken and cooking video, and especially your vintage set. You did a great job. Enjoy your tea/desert with your lovely family👍💖

Dear Laura, Thank you for the perfect video. Your tea set are so pretty. Great find! 💫y
Baking on your channel with plants from your garden! I LOVE IT!!
Wonderful video Laura! I'm going to buy a rhubarb plant today.😀 So funny how Aaron already helped himself to the rhubarb crisp.
I loved your cooking video. I want to plant some rhubarb this year. We are replacing our shed, taking out some bushes and then there will be a perfect spot for it. Thank you. Love the chickens too!
Would love to see more videos like this! From harvesting vegetables and seeing what you do with your new produce.
Tea in your beautiful garden. That's the way to end a busy day : )
I thought the video was fine, straight to the point and easy to follow! You did great!

This video was such a treat, enjoyed it with my first cup of coffee in the morning! Thank you for the recipe!
One of my favorite videos from Garden Answers. 💝
This video was great. Gardening, cooking, pretty glasses and pitcher, I loved seeing a slice of your real life..

Maryann Carter i was introduced to it when I was about 11 by dipping it into granulated white sugar.
Definitely do more cooking demos. Loved it. I'm craving a crisp now!! Can't wait to see how you use all those veggies throughout the summer.
OMG. Love love love the video. By all means do more of them really enjoyed The Change-Up. And for what it's worth as much as we enjoy Aaron you did just fine without his help LOL

Thought it was a great first effort in shooting a cooking video! Recommend some corn starch to thicken the filing juice if you like that texture. Looks yummy!
Thanks for the recipe in the pitcher and glasses are beautiful
I loved this video so much! I never comment on anything, but I really liked how you showed us how to incorporat something you've grown into your life!
Wow there's nothing more amazing than planting and making your own food from it!
Love the cooking video. Never made rhubarb crisp but I’m inspired to.
11:27 I feel bad for Aaron getting told! :)
All of your videos are awesome...never apologize for anything...you two are the best!
Your video is always great. I know what Im going to do when my strawberries ripe now. 👍
Loved this vlog style video😍😍
Just loved it Laura !! Very nice to see what you do with your crops! Farm to Table. You handled it just like a pro! I lived in Iowa for 45 years of my life where rhubarb is everywhere. I never knew the leaves were poison and I always thought it wasn't ripe until the stems turned red! I always learn something watching you!
More cooking vlogs plz. Especially the crops from ung garden
hello, loved watching you cook... in the uk where i am, the strawberry and rhubarb crisp is called a crumble and very tasty too 😉 xx
The video was great and it´s really fun to see what you do with all the food that you´re growing 😊
Have an amazing weekend!!!! 😊
