President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual and local government officials of the Province of Camarines Sur, tours the Coconut Processing Center situated in Barangay San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur on March 16, 2023.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Executive Director Rodel Tornilla and Mr. Bombit Bernardo brief the President on the said facility, a 7-hectare government funded processing facility that aims to build a ‘Bicol Food Terminal Complex’.
Once fully operational, the Coconut Processing Facility would require 160,000 to 320,000 nuts per day to produce 5,000 per hour aseptic packs, which will benefit 24,000 coconut farmers cultivating approximately 75,000 million fruit bearing coco trees.
The facility is expected to produce value-added coconut products such as coco water, desiccated coconut, flour, coco cream, milk, virgin coconut oil (VCO), vinegar, coco water concentrate and distilled water.
