My plums are gone for the year, but this looks interesting. I have a wild red plum tree that I grew from seed because the plum I ate tasted like a satsuma plum. It's now giving me about 15 pounds of fruit each year. As a single person with several fruit trees, I'm having to be a bit inventive in order to use them. Even then, I end up giving quite a bit away.
This probably would be safe to can, as fruit purees are one of the products listed for home canning by USDA. This is basically just a fruit puree with added spices and sugar. Still, canning can be tricky.
Plum ketchup excellent. Ever since I started making mushroom ketchup I have been interested in trying.others. I've got a bumper crop of plums this year too, so this is definitely something to try. Thanks
Oh I love mushroom ketchup!! Sometimes I have more stropharia mushrooms than I know what to do with, I had totally forgotten I can make ketchup from them!!
Im a complete novice with plums... i do mean complete. no one in my family ate them, so i know very little. is there a single plum variety that: is self fertile because i dont have much room left, and would be a good 'all purpose' plum, maybe for cooking? i can try to find the plum in a market to sample, but i dont even know what to look for
I ordered an Italian prune plum, similar to Stanley, because I want to simply dehydrate the extras. I'm thinking about investing in a good dehydrator for processing much of the produce--apple rings, herbs, etc.
Can't wait to try... great video!!

This sounds absolutely delicious. I only have harvest from my wild damsons, could this work with them with some extra sugar?
I doubt you’d even need extra sugar. My Shropshire Damsons are TART
What is the name of the nursery/garden center you frequently mention in your videos as a source for permaculture plants, shrubs, and trees?
One Green World! They’re wonderful! I also sometimes order things from Burnt Ridge Nursery.
