Where's the listing for continued wealth consolidation and poverty because the entire world is now being run by a cabal of unaccountable billionaires and corporations that hope you'll focus on the stuff on this list rather than them?
Listen carefully to #4. He mentions that less regulations and tax breaks for corporations and "high net worth individuals" (rich) are "market positive". They WANT more wealth for themselves. Fuck the small people. It's not an item because, in their view, wealth concentration is not an issue.
Literally not a single word about climate change or any other environmental issue - one would imagine that existential threats to civilization and the biosphere would rank pretty high. Acting like it isn't western hegemony and American imperialism that is destabilizing the middle east (and the reason why Iran is stuck with a theocratic dictatorship in the first place). Nothing about massive wealth inequality, income disparity, or declines in birth rates across both developed and developing countries. Acting like America isn't in decline when 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and have such bad health insurance that most of us can't go see a doctor. What a joke
Sadly, the majority don't care about climate change. What people care right now is immigration and their own pockets. That's pretty much it, everything else be damned!
1. Earth has survived worse than us puny humans (doesn’t mean we should exacerbate the emissions but doesn’t mean we should exacerbate the “existential threat” of it as well) 2. Agree about countries messing with other countries 3. Wealth inequality grows when a subset of the population is lifted to a higher income bracket, the gap needs to be brought closer but the idea that inequality = bad is communist af. Obviously the fruits of the riches should be shared, but this needs to happen through stable institutions that are providing a majority of the benefits to the ones actually pushing for the value increase. Otherwise you end up with complacent population that will not want to do anything because they get free shit, or their work won’t end up benefiting them proportionately. 4. Agree about birthrates but I think this video is in the context of the short term future 5. Agree that health insurance is a scam in US, lobbyists are killing the working class as an external observer
I agree with everything except the declining birth rate issue. Personally I don't find it to be an issue but I've recently read that it seems that way only because less women get pregnant in their teens which skewed the data. I can't say if that is true but it makes sense to me....
You aren't wrong, but I think the point of the video is to focus on the immediate concerns for 2025. Climate change is a really big deal, but it isn't a problem that is likely to acutely impact the average citizen within the next 365 days. Healthcare and wealth-consolidation are big issues, but not as immediately concerning as some of the things listed. Now, don't get me wrong, these things SHOULD BE IMMEDIATE CONCERNS, but they've been overshadowed by geopolitical crises resulting from decades of weak leadership and mismanagement.
The US economy cannot survive without continuous credit and debt creation. The FED will print more money and the average American will go just that much further in debt. Meanwhile, foreigners lust for the greenback. Their economies are in worse condition than the US... if that's even possible. Someone is going to be left holding the bag...
Gold might crash in a liquidity crunch, but many precious metal holders are prepared for this and unlikely to be forced sellers. The paper market would tank and possibly collapse. Hearing from an experienced investor who has overcome adversity is motivating. It can be scary when your portfolio turns red, but if you've invested in strong companies, stick to your goals and continue growing them

They have ignored climate and the continued destruction of our environment for 40 years plus. They will not change until the fires engulf the world. In truth, the rich do not care because they can move about and make certain they have plenty of food, air conditioning and shelter wherever they go. It is the working class slave masses that have voted for men like tRump, starting with Reagan, time and time again. They masses voted for their own continued and increasing poverty as well as the immense suffering they will endure and die from as the planet continues toward its tipping point of no return. Americans have voted as a majority time and time again for their own suffering and demise. For reason such as racism, homophobia and the control of women's bodies.
@@nothingness863 Nobody is arguing that fact, and it really needs to stop being a talking point for climate deniers. The most interesting thing is that from a Western point of view, a multipolar world, where countries act in their own interests rather than in the interests of America and the West, is considered the number one threat. From the outside, this sounds very funny.
I’d say the US is far weaker than Ian Bremmer would believe, and way more unstable internally. Huge debt, with interest payments piling up, an acute recruitment crisis within the military, and a highly unequal society where the most recent significant bipartisan consensus event among the populace is a CEO getting shot on an open street. The US is strong in the same way as a cancer patient is stronger than someone who contracted ebola

You didn't mention EU, just shows how insignificant they have become in geo-politics! When they focus more on jailing people for sending emails after 6 pm than focusing on innovation and national security, you were bound to struggle in a polarised world.
You might want to highlight how military corporations have a significant influence over the U.S. government, which often lacks moral direction. For instance, the government has invested $175 billion in supporting Ukraine, yet has only allocated a mere $700 dolars to assist those affected by climate change, such as victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles. This disparity reflects misplaced priorities in addressing domestic crises or corruption.
And Healthcare? It is intended only for the most wealthy in terms of actual health care available and, of course, the ROI for shareholders, private equity, Big pharma executives and boards of directors, not to mention our elected officials who take their money to do their bidding.

seems to me like the average person is seeing the answers more clearly than those in power, wealth and power inequality are what we should be focusing on in 2025
All the problems in the world can be attributed to some extent towards the existence of "money". In a world where there is globalization, where ones work, service or a product has a different "value" is not realistic. People owning lands and then be used for monetary reasons is still mind bogling to me. These are essentials to survivability just as food and healthcare are. Thats one of the reasons why concepts such as healthcare for all, universal basic income are not radical anymore. Humans are not born for making money, its time retire concept of money and replace it with societal contribution points where ones purpose is not tied to money but by the nature of work. Hopefully, then we are driven by the nature of improving society rather than racing towards who valued more.
It's too late for that, it sounds utopian, the closest thing to that is regulating these billionaires who keep on getting richer and the rest of the 90+% keeps making them wealthier and are falling behind while being shouted at to work harder and take more risks. Also these silly divisive nonsensical sub ideologies like the manosphere and feminism need to get debunked and forgotten so we can love each other again and have some legit motivation to get ahead. We should also have an almost automated world of production, which in turn can provide more of that time to be a social being, as you mentioned. The status quo is leading to some kind of new neo capitalistic feudalism and communism is simply not going to work because the implementation coming from a (neo)liberal system is never going to work.
For those individuals you were referring to, that are incapable of being governed. Maybe you should reconsider these people are tired of colonialism and policies that are set to not built infrastructure yeah but to continue to extract resources. Appreciate your reporting on other topics.
This was comical. The whole bit was completely biased towards the saviors of Democracy vs the evil axis of whatever country is on the other side at the time. Even the hits on Trump were a tap on the wrist.
Removing a large number of illegal im migrants from the work force opens up job opportunities for us, which is next to impossible for me right now. Plus we will all be paying taxes on those jobs we work. Also, regarding the “oligarchy” take over, what about Soros and all the billionaires who’ve been writing legislation and paying politicians to wreak havoc on our society and economy for decades. But that’s okay so long as it’s the old establishment and not Trump.
Please add ecological overshoot, and our unrealistic and dangerous expectation of continued increase in energy consumption on a climate-stressed planet with finite ‘resources’.
Every country is in full preparation to begin the two slogans, 1. "Our country IS NOT for sale," 2. "Our country FIRST on everything now." In Canada, for example , similar to Canadian HOCKEY hats, shirts, jerseys, scarfs, socks, flags, mugs and baby outfits, "CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE" slogan is the next HOTTEST seen in Canada’s gifts in 2025 🎉🎉🎉
Your last point completely ignores BRICS and the non-Western world pulling together to form their own system not directly tied to and reliant upon the global north.
The leaders want G zero, but the majority of people want G195. All countries coordinate to help humanity. Ian should work with UN WTO, World charities to push this agenda hard. Describing G zero has the effect of endorsing it, which is not the intention.
Even with the US chip restrictions, China just released a competitive generative AI chatbot Deepsink. So we're basically at the mercy of Trump's incompetence. Got it.
Could have been worse
@@offeibekoe452 That's how colonizers would reply.
No, Trump is a clown, a Jester in the court of B. rock, vang$$ and $.S
Deliberateness, not just incompetence.
I'm at my own mercy. Trump can't do me shiite!
Im hoping i misunderstood the point that you made regarding taxes in the US. Were you suggesting that the best route to economic growth was that the elites should receive tax cuts? IE, trickle down economics.

ok bro
Good list but maybe musk should be # 2. ?
@@RR-lq3ef The only reason he isn't is because I can't see Trump & Musk's "friendship" lasting long at all.
@@marktunnicliffe2495 let's hope.
For the past few months, That is the only problem I, and millions of our people have.
"he exaggerates occasionally" lollllllll that was great
The most interesting thing is that from a Western point of view, a multipolar world, where countries act in their own interests rather than in the interests of America and the West, is considered the number one threat. From the outside, this sounds very funny.
in a nutshell: buckle up! it's gonna be a bumpy ride.....
My anxiety is real
Are you though?
@ann8th yes
Russia WAS integrated into the west, they just didn't want to play by the rules.
Always enjoy Ian’s talks.
Chinese zodiac states that this will be the year of the snake. A year where the snake “peels her skin for a new cycle to begin”. I seriously hope that it’s not going to be the G-Zero wins scenario!
We had that for centuries and it didn’t work out too well for any of us back then, I seriously had hoped that we’d learn that from history and yet… here we are!
But why😂 why do we gotta start the year with a video about new anxieties unlocked
What the hell is this guy going on about? "Europe is regretting not spending more on growth and innovation?" Europe is facing a similar crisis of wealth equality because of growth focus thanks to the USA.
Very succinct. I totally agree and as an American, it makes me very nervous.
i was just like you, wondering why some people effortlessly draw attention while i felt invisible. nothing i tried seemed to work. then i came across Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and it completely shifted my perspective. the way chapter 3 explains energy and presence? it’s like unlocking the secret to being noticed.

American foreign policies cause these drama's hence their nickname aWARerica 🤷
Great video!
This disparity reflects misplaced priorities in addressing domestic crises or corruption.
lol why was I ever subscribed to this? Its like cable news😂
FAAAAAAACCCTTTTSSSS 😂
Wats cable newz? Is it the sane as this?
Sorry. Facts don’t care about your feelings. If you want propaganda, Fox News and CNN are down the hall.
And Healthcare? It is intended only for the most wealthy in terms of actual health care available and, of course, the ROI for shareholders, private equity, Big pharma executives and boards of directors, not to mention our elected officials who take their money to do their bidding.
Climate change should be on the list. This overnight reflects poorly on the rest of the video
That's #11
why climate change is a risk, people will adjust. People cant change it, just slow it down and no more
Almost halfway in and there's this weird recurring theme of globalization and global leadership. Am I being paranoid?
As expensive as everything is here in the USA and with the violence we have plus the upcoming president I'm amazed anyone would want to come to the US to visit or live.
lol, obviously you've never been outside of US much
@noTH9IK I admit I have not. 😢 Takes money I don't have.

Genuine question, how are the illegal immigrants tax payers? By them paying for goods in the states and paying something like sales tax?
Income tax
@@jameslee1145 in most developed countries illegals cannot pay income tax, since they cannot be legally employed.
seems to me like the average person is seeing the answers more clearly than those in power, wealth and power inequality are what we should be focusing on in 2025
All the problems in the world can be attributed to some extent towards the existence of "money".

Now you just need a video on what the hell we can do to prepare. Sounds like chaos is on the way.
Boy I was hoping that this would come from a place of bipartisan objectivity, but this turns out to be a left worry checklist
Thank you for this neutral and very interesting documentary. I liked it very much.
This was comical. The whole bit was completely biased towards the saviors of Democracy vs the evil axis of whatever country is on the other side at the time. Even the hits on Trump were a tap on the wrist.
title should be “10 biggest threats of America 2025, ranked I lan Bremmer”
Removing a large number of illegal im migrants from the work force opens up job opportunities for us, which is next to impossible for me right now. Plus we will all be paying taxes on those jobs we work. Also, regarding the “oligarchy” take over, what about Soros and all the billionaires who’ve been writing legislation and paying politicians to wreak havoc on our society and economy for decades. But that’s okay so long as it’s the old establishment and not Trump.
No mention of debt crisis or possible economic downturn.... Ok
I thought Sudan is forgotten
If you've ever been there then you know it needs to be forgotten
I've already got enough anxiety, no thanks.
I looks like the risk he is explaining is based on US risks and not necessarily a risk in general. So pointless kinda
Please add ecological overshoot, and our unrealistic and dangerous expectation of continued increase in energy consumption on a climate-stressed planet with finite ‘resources’.
How is the common man supposed to prepare against this??
So you're sayin' there'll be less "law and order" in the world?
What about solar flares and hackers bringing down the global web?
Every country is in full preparation to begin the two slogans,
1. "Our country IS NOT for sale,"
2. "Our country FIRST on everything now."
In Canada, for example , similar to Canadian HOCKEY hats, shirts, jerseys, scarfs, socks, flags, mugs and baby outfits, "CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE" slogan is the next HOTTEST seen in Canada’s gifts in 2025 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome to our new multipolar world ( in a strong Brzezinski accent)
A 'multi-polar world' is arguably a more normal state than a bi-polar, or uni-polar world. No need for anyone to freak out about it.
So, Big Think is US centric?
Technology without wisdom, is a death sentence.
RIP life on Earth.
Where's the guy who time stamps these things.
Americans arent happy with neo liberal policies… I find it rich how this guy talks about it when the US has been the per cursor of all this sh💩t show…
Your last point completely ignores BRICS and the non-Western world pulling together to form their own system not directly tied to and reliant upon the global north.
The leaders want G zero, but the majority of people want G195. All countries coordinate to help humanity. Ian should work with UN WTO, World charities to push this agenda hard. Describing G zero has the effect of endorsing it, which is not the intention.
Imagine this being your job… a “worrywart”

Turns out they stocked up on older GPUs and out played us by developing more efficient code to keep up. oops. All of humanity should be working on AI research together. This war to dominance to a more intelligent entity will not end well for either of us. Humanity hangs in the balance and we have ZERO idea how to solve the alignment problem.
So the world could really use Franklin Roosevelt right now or a John F. Kennedy but instead we have Drumpf. Excellent
Shouldn't the president and also other law makers have at least some educated in economics? Also shouldn't a commander in chief have military experience as in been in the military so they understand how things work? Not a background in holiday and fraud?
Pete Hegseth was utterly ripped to pieces at his confirmation questioning, he'll still probably be confirmed.
Stupidity is like a force of nature.
