I've been crocheting for 20 years, and never really tried knitting because of how hard it is to fix a mistake you missed and how hard it was to keep those loose stitches after you rip out rows. Thank you so, so much for your video. I am in the process of making a blanket for a co-worker who is retiring. About 26 inches in I made a BIG mistake and wasn’t sure how to fix it. In the past, I would have ripped the whole thing out but I just couldn’t bring myself to do that. I found your video and using the third method I successfully ripped out about 4 rows of knitting. The blanket is back on my circular needle and I am back in business again! Thank you again for your clear instructions on how to do this.

I was so happy to find your video. I used method 3 to great success. I’m knitting a baby afghan on circular needles with a fan pattern. It wasn’t perfect but only a few stitches needed to be straightened out/fixed after pulling back five rows. Since I’ve already restarted this blanket four times, I’m glad I didn’t have to undo a foot of work. Thank you.

This video was a life saver, I'm an advanced beginner and was knitting in the round when I realized my mistake only a row and a half away. So I just used method 1 and went backwards till I reached the mistake without unravelling. Thank you so much.
I finished a heel flap and started knitting my heel turn, then at my last purl row, I noticed a hanging stitch pre-heel turn. I cried thinking it was ruined. Your video saved my sock! I used method three and went back 2 rows before the lost stitch. Seriously, I cried tears of joy because your video saved me!! Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤
Omg! I was literally in tears about how much I was going to have to unstitch. Method 3 was perfect! Hooray! I used a crochet hook to help guide the rescue needle because my yarn is really wispy and I was afraid I was only going to get a part of each loop just using the needles. Worked like a charm!
I tried your Third Method for unraveling and it was a great success! Your hint about picking up the right leg of the "V" of the stitch was very helpful. It also helped me to look away from my work once in a while when threading my needle through the stitches. Thank you for this video!
I just figured out that I have to make sure to undo the pearl stitches backwards from the knits. She shows undoing knits only. But it worked out fine, because then I also knew how to read that all the pearls I had undone as knits were twisted, then I knew how to just untwist them! You have such great videos, thank you from a self-taught knitter 🥰
Thank you so much for posting this rescue video!! I am an avid 40+ year crocheter and have done some knitting off and on, but only a few scarfs. I'm always crocheting for charity... preemie hats and chemo caps most often, so I'm trying my hand at knitting a baby cap. I'm still not a great crocheter (18 months) and I'm new to knitting, but your videos have given me confidence to believe I can be a good knitter! I'm learning what stitches look like. That was huge! I can fix my mistakes now. Brilliant!
I looked through so many videos trying to figure out how to get my knitting back on my needle the right way after ripping out a mistake. NO ONE ELSE EXPLAINED EXACTLY HOW TO PICK UP THE STITCHES CORRECTLY SO THEY’RE NOT TWISTED! Thank you so much for your clear demonstration and explanation! I’m making a Christmas stocking for a family member because my mom passed away after making them for about 200 family members over the years, kids, grands, greatgrands, cousins, second cousins, their kids and grandkids, etc. I’ve never been much of a knitter and have really struggled with each stitch, changing colors, bobbins, etc. I was horrified to notice a huge mistake several rows back! So I ripped out the rows but then wasn’t sure how to get the stitches back on the needle. I tried it a couple of times but it didn’t seem right. Thank you so much for showing me the right way to do it! You saved this family heirloom!!
Very helpful information, thank you! I taught myself to knit with a kit but would panic at a dropped stitch, etc. I completely fixed a mistake yesterday thanks to your video!
Amazing! You've saved me so much trouble with that third method. Easy and works so well. I'm knitting on the round so I was particularly worried about how I was going to unravel and start from an earlier row!
You are a wonderful teacher! I was able to use your 3rd method to take out 8 rows of tiny size 2 needle stitches without dropping or twisting any! Sheep & Stitch ~ I can't thank you enough!
With crochet, you only deal with ONE stitch at a time. So much less stressful. I started as a knitter, but once I got the hang of crochet, I never went back.
Method number three is a life saver. I was on the back side of a small stitch sweater when I made a huger error and did not catch it for 4 rows. It was still hard but Method three made is possible. Thank you!
I have NEVER fixed any mistakes because I didn't know how to take out rows without either ditching the whole project or using method #2 (which I just couldn't imagine risking). Hooray for method #3!!! Now I feel like I can try some more challenging projects, maybe even clothing items. Thank you!
OH MY GOD the third method is a life saver!!! I used to tink back (method one) for rows and rows because I was too scared of method two, this will save me so much time and anxiety!! THANK YOU!!!
Thank you! I'm new-ish to knitting and I tried tying in a new ball and things went crazy. I knew I had to rip it out and was scared I would have to rip it out. Thank you for your tutorial. You saved my project and my hope in learning to knit 👍♥️
You are a fantastic teacher! Love how close up and clear your instructions are. Maybe I won’t cry this time trying to fix my mess of a project. Your 3rd way is brilliant!
Oh my gosh, you’ve just taken away half of my frustration with knitting - how to deal with mistakes! I’m a crochet fan and in crochet, fixing mistakes isn’t intimidating - you just frog back to the mistake and ‘re-crochet’. Knitting is trickier! SUPER video! Thank you!!
This was made 4yrs ago but I'm new Knitter of this year and trying a blanket and was freaking out what to do as I am frogging like 4 or 5 rows of 90 stitches !! This helps me tons!! Thank you!
This is such a brilliant and helpful video. Was feeling defeated over a mistake I made in a project I worked so hard on and now I feel hopeful I can fix it!!!!
These aew the most clear and concise instructions I have heard! Thank you so much for offering 3 different methods to remove stitches easily and safely!
I love Divina's videos. They are the best I have seen. I am just learning, and have a friend who helps when I have problems, but these videos go nice and slow. They are also repetitive, which makes it so easy to pick up the techniques. I haven't learned to perl yet, but I am casting on, longtail casting, on, knitting, and easily fixing mistakes without unraveling all of my work.
Thank you soooo much Davina! I have been avoiding knitting for the anxiety of having to learn how to fix a mistake as there are always mistakes! After the mistake in my beginner scarf, I watched your video and would have tried your #3 method but I didn’t have double pointed needles, so I went with method #2. It took a few tries and taking out a few extra rows but it totally worked!! I was so excited! I still think knit repairs are quite a bit more tricky than crochet ones BUT your videos are most excellent and helped me get past the initial anxiety! Now I can look forward to future knitting projects. Thank you again for the gift that you share! God bless!
Thank you for explaining how to unravel and save stitches! Nobody ever explained how to exactly do that. Once I understood the anatomy of the stitch it made sense to pick up the right leg! Fingers crossed as I'm doing this method to add length to a sweater I'm working on.
This is a game changer! I learnt the basics as a kid but never continued as I would make mistakes & couldn’t see how to undo them.. I never ‘understood the stitches’ if that makes sense! Now I’m not afraid of starting a project because if it goes wrong I should now be able to rescue it!
Love, love, love method #3! I've done method #1 before both a few stitches and many rows on slippery yarn - now I know a safe way to do rows that's much less time consuming!
I've been taking private knitting lessons and your videos give me more information that my private lesson. The videos are done so organized and detailed. I'm glad I found your channel and hope you post more inspirational videos!!!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you. I am so glad I found this video. I am learning to knit and I could not figure out how to fix my mistakes!!!! so I went back to crochet. I love to crochet, but learning to knit has always been a challenge. One of my biggest frustrations is frogging. so again I say Thank You!
I just got through with a project and wanted to go back and redo some what I had done but dared not knowing that unraveling 6 rows would only end up in starting all over again from the beginning because it always seems that the count is off when casting on has been performed, but with your tutorial I will be relieved that I won't compromise nor sacrifice the whole project. Thank You so much.
I'm first-time knitter trying to knit a scarf for my boyfriend 5/half needles and 8ply yarn, and after my third attempt i can say i want this to be the last. I realised i had accidentally added a stitch and i decided to unravel a few rows. IT WORKED! took a couple of hours and used small safety pins to keep the stitches from dropping, but thankyou so much! saved my butt
Had a blanket I was knitting that had a lot of cabling. One cable about 20 rows down wasn't crossed correctly. It would have taken me forever to back everything out. I was so scared to rip it down to where I needed. I took a chance based on your video instruction and was successful! TY
I picked up a tip from another video: if you’re using method 2, rip back to the row just before the one you’re going to pick up. Then instead of fishing your rescue needle through every stitch, instead you pinch just 3-4 stitches between your left thumb and forefinger, then unravel just those stitches, and pick them up on your rescue needle. I’m afraid of dropping stitches when I unravel and this makes it less likely. But now I’m keen to try method 3 instead!!
I needed this video! I'm glad I put down my knitting after my needle fell out of my work..i was beside myself. I thought I was done, I was going to pull it all out and start over again. I'm going to try this method.
Oh my goodness, this video just saved my life! Thanks a ton. Now I won't have to unravel the ENTIRE project if I miss just ONE tiny little loop. I gave up knitting for that reason and I was pretty happy with sticking on to just crocheting. Now I'm confident enough to go back to knitting!! 😁😁
Your yarn and this video is bulky yarn. And the stitches kind of stand up by themselves so you can see them. Where I get into trouble is when it's thinner yarn and they just start unraveling and you have to go down into the piece and figure out how to pick them up again. But this video is very very helpful. You make it all very understandable.
Thanks! I always do this the long way and "unknit" all the way to the place I made the mistake. It takes as long as it did to knit it to begin with..... but I am a perfectionist, so any little mistake stresses me out. This will make my life so much easier!!
O.M.G. This video just saved my tail - 13 rows in the round, 240 st per row had to come out (re-using yarn that didn't knit up consistently with the preceding skein). Took a couple of tries to get the cables all the way around in the right row, but it worked PERFECTLY! Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much. I love your third method. I have two projects that I was just going to either trash or start over ( which I know I probably won't do). Thanks for explaining the way the stitches go also.
Who's going to try out the Third Method for unravelling?!
I would...best part of the video....

I love your similies and general can do no nonesense and positive language and the pace you take. Brilliant 👏
I crochet, I know the basics of knitting but you make want to knit! Thank you
from an 11yr old
With crochet, you only deal with ONE stitch at a time. So much less stressful. I started as a knitter, but once I got the hang of crochet, I never went back.
I crochet. I want to learn how to knit :)
Love to see another young crochetting army !!
@@argusfleibeit1165 haha the opposite experience for me. i crocheted first and became a knitter
This is my favorite tutorial for unraveling knitting. That cowgirl analogy is very helpful.
These videos are so helpful especially since I'm a new knitter and have to unravel lots to rows to rescue the knitting. Thank you.
You’re very welcome!
These aew the most clear and concise instructions I have heard! Thank you so much for offering 3 different methods to remove stitches easily and safely!
This is the clearest video I have found for rescuing my frequent mistakes. Thank you so much!
You rescued my scarf! I made a major mistake at the end. I used your third method - it worked like a charm. You are amazing!
Thank goodness! You just saved me so much stress and frustration. Your tutorials are the best I’ve seen. Thank you so much.
Love love how clear you are in your demonstration; this was tremendously clear and helpful. Thank you!
I'm new to knitting and would not be able to progress without your crystal-clear explanations , thank you so much for all your videos!
Davina, you are the BEST knitting teacher! I have learned everything much easier after watching your tutorials! Thanks and keep them coming!!
What a brilliant tutorial. I particularly liked the tip to walk away and look out of the window: such good advice. 🙏🏻❤️
This is a game changer! I learnt the basics as a kid but never continued as I would make mistakes & couldn’t see how to undo them.. I never ‘understood the stitches’ if that makes sense! Now I’m not afraid of starting a project because if it goes wrong I should now be able to rescue it!
you're the best explainer on youtube when it comes to knitting! thank you so so much
Method 3 just saved my life. Thank you thank you thank you
Love, love, love method #3! I've done method #1 before both a few stitches and many rows on slippery yarn - now I know a safe way to do rows that's much less time consuming!
You literally saved no me hours of unraveling. Thank you so much!!!
I've been taking private knitting lessons and your videos give me more information that my private lesson. The videos are done so organized and detailed. I'm glad I found your channel and hope you post more inspirational videos!!!!
Private knitting lessons! How cool! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Hope to post more this Fall and winter!
Thank you so much! I have had difficulty with the right and wrong side of stitches as well as ripping off as I'm working on a new pattern.
Method 3 is life altering! Thank you!
I still come back to this video every now and then when I need it, just to keep my sanity
I love your humor and bullets. It really helps with comfortability
I am learning how to knit and I am glad I found your channel. Your videos are very helpful; easy to understand and well done.
I wish I had seen this when I was a beginner! Very easy to understand your explanations. Right and left leg makes so much sense! Thank you!!!!!
I love how simply you demonstrate and explain. You are awesome at this! Thank you!
I needed this video! I'm glad I put down my knitting after my needle fell out of my work..i was beside myself. I thought I was done, I was going to pull it all out and start over again. I'm going to try this method.
I’m a new knitter and can’t tell you how helpful this video is! Thanks so much!
Yay! I'm glad it worked for you. Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting!
Thank you so much for your help! This is a really clear, well-narrated, and well-edited video. Life saver!
Thank you so much, as a beginner knitter you just saved my life.
O.M.G. This video just saved my tail - 13 rows in the round, 240 st per row had to come out (re-using yarn that didn't knit up consistently with the preceding skein). Took a couple of tries to get the cables all the way around in the right row, but it worked PERFECTLY! Thank you!!!!
The cowboy reference just solved all future twisted stitches. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I love your third method. I have two projects that I was just going to either trash or start over ( which I know I probably won't do). Thanks for explaining the way the stitches go also.
