This title and even the artists were known to me. Sorry, but watched the original video first, so l could compare it to your performance. Watching their video, it all looked still quite familiar. Never listened to the lyrics properly, though. And so looked them up as well. Sounds all quite confusing and if you know the connection between it all and the chorus, please let me know, because l can't think of any... It's totally NOT what l expected, after what you told about the props you would take along for this song. Well, it was really challenging but you nailed it! Those lyrics, the changing scenes, all the props, even the cup, letting it fall ( l remember we always had a chuckle with that) ... and so on. This must have taken you so much effort and a lot of time, both performing and editing. But as you said yourself, it was worth it and it surely shows : the result is fantastic! Great... just great! Gonna watch it again! 👍🤩👍🤩👍
I didn't know in what order people would watch the two videos, and I figured it didn't matter. As long as they did. Watching them together, even better! I think the lyrics were just sentences strung together to make a verse, not meaning anything. I read that Paul wrote the song after attending a party hosted by Ronald Reagan, and someone didn't recognize him and his wife, and kept calling them Al and Betty. Yeah the cup (and recorder). I didn't have a bongo drum holder, so the table, which was in the room, had to suffice. Yes, it took almost 2 hours to film. I'm glad I did it at church!
@@tracilay4162 As l looked it up about the lyrics and the song on Wikipedia, l read the same thing. Indeed it was as you said : the comical confusion about the names was the inspiration to the lyrics. So it did make kind of sense that way. Somewhere else, it also said, when he wrote the song, Paul Simon was going through a hard time in his life, but found solace after his journey to Africa. Which is also implied in the lyrics. You did an excellent job with the props, improvising when necessary. You must have watched their video so many times to be able to re-enact it all. It makes me wonder why you chose to perform this and the way you did. You must have known it would be quite a challenge. But you're not held back by one... we also know that from former performances!
@@carinagryp6264 oh I used to watch music videos for hours on end as a teenager and early 20s. So I've watched this one maybe 100 times. As far as why, I was planning the video, and on Tuesday I was at work, where I do my thinking, lol, and I was thinking I need to avoid any resemblance to the original video. Then I had a thought, but why not? 💡 And that's how the plan changed to reenacting the video. The video almost planned itself after that.
I am sorry about the pain, but the video was totally amazing. Look at you, adding all of these extra goodies and challenges in to your performances. This was absolutely phenomenal. I admire you ***because you continue to grow and try out new ideas. You're the type who will keep at it until you get the SUCCESSFUL results you want. 👏👏 Excellent video, Miss Traci... BRAVO 🌞🍁💛
I obviously made several errors in filming, the biggest one being the door on the wrong side. I obviously overestimated the apps editing abilities. I didn't have time to really check distances, like the fist bump. But I think overall I did well, considering it's just me and my limited resources and capabilities. Thanks for your vote of confidence!
I hope your foot is better now😊I knew the song and the video, but it's been a long time since I've seen it so I watched it before I watched yours, like you wrote in the beginning😊You did a great job👍
💪I'm sorry you hurt your foot making the video, Hope your not in pain anymore- but I appreciate u making the video b/c I forgot about that song from when I was a kid! Thanks for bringing back memories for me! U did 👍 Great editing/mixing/reinactment!!! I hope u had fun making (U looked like u were) & the pain was worth it!! ThankU 😊
It was! My foot, which has severe arthritis, is normally in some pain, but I just made it scream for a over a day. Something I try to avoid, but sometimes I can't. Yes, it was worth it!
Traci, sorry you hurt Foot I love your video I said to myself Who is that she look like Traci? I like how you were dance stepping. as you left the room 😅😅You killed it Traci.
Just made it holler, as I explained. Editing was a challenge, as I wanted to make it look like you couldn't tell it was 2 videos, but to make some things work, I had to split them apart more than I wanted to. Then I filmed with the door on the wrong side! My other hang up was my body. I normally film from the waist up. I hated that you all had to see the rest of me, but I had to so the video would work out.
@@tracilay4162 Now please! Don't be hard on yourself ! Your very creative you put your heart into your acting, I love your storytelling you have great ideas . Your fine. 🙃😊🤗
I am sorry that you went through pain to make this, but it is so brilliant, it put a smile on my face. I am happy i was recommended this video by UA-cam. God bless you always! ❤
Funny and quirky! 😊😁 My favorite part was 2:10-ish with the cup. 😄 Sorry about your foot, glad it got better! EDIT: Seems like this would be a rather tough one to lip sync. Lots of words, and not exactly a coherent story. 😁
I had to improvise since I didn't have a bongo drum holder. That was always one of my favorite parts of the original video too! My foot did return to its normal level of pain. (Severe arthritis) I think it would've been harder if I wasn't so familiar with it. I've done harder (I've Been Everywhere for example). It was harder to try to line things up, which didn't work out too well. Maybe if I had a few days, not a couple of hours.
