    So i tested mine. I get power to the board. I reaet the cmos and it still will not power up at all. Is it just dead mother board?

      If the power cord seems to be working, a BIOS reset doesn't help and the powerjack is working then the last thing would be the motherboard. You can also try uninstalling anything extra like HDD, wifi card, ram and see if it will turn on. In some rare cases, these parts can prevent the computer from turning on.

    Omg I’m so thankful I found your videos! Went through the first 2 and my laptop didn’t come back on. With the power jack plugged in I touched the little metal Pieces with the voltmeter and when I touched the inside white one it came on!!!! Yay!!! Thank you so much!!!

    That second laptop. Looks a lot like a a Compaq Presario CQ56. I have one of those working, Debian Linux on there.

      Does the computer turn on? Or is it completely dead?

    I have integrated power jack like your video and it does feed 20v to the motherboard, what else could it be. I haven't removed the battery as it's really hard to remove.

      @@EggheadFixers it won't turn on or power on at all, completly dead. I'm assuming it's shorted out. There was a small screw I found inside the laptop randomly sitting on the fan, I don't know if I shorted something or where it came from.

    Hello
    Egghead Fixers, I like very much your videos. I discovered your channel because I am searching a slution about why my Thinkpad W530 is turning on, fan rotarting and processor working but as if everything is working by I have no boot from the start so black image. This happenned to me when I tried to add Ram slots, and one of the Rams was defectibe :( I don't know what to do I tried to remove the bios battery and reset and then restrat but nothing changed

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  2 роки тому +1

      So if you go back to just having the original RAM installed then it still does it? Also have you tried the method in this video of taking out the RAM sticks one at a time?

      @@EggheadFixers You are very very kind I thank you very much. Yes sure the same Ram compatible, the same Ram that was installed before I try to upgrade. Sure I have tested this same Ram on the computer of a neighbor and it worked (i removed all his 2 Rams X 8 and I installed only my (gb Ram and it worked on his computer9. When I install back this same Ram that was installed also before I attempt to do the upgrade, in my computer, then The Black screen remains. I thin that something in the ports of the Ram Slot or some chips nearby are destroyed. I also tried this same functionning Ram in every of the 4 slots of the W530 Thinkpad, and also did not work. Couldt be the GPU is dead? Maybe the bad Ram destroyed my GPU which is NVIDIA K2000M. How can I test if the GPU works?? I also connected to monitor also did not work. The Processor runs and the fans spin but no image. There is electricity out from teh USB if I try to recharge the Smartphone by USB for example. My feeling is that my GPU is destroyed as well

    My Toshiba satellite L630 turns on and I can spend as much time as I like in the cmos but as soon as I let it continue it starts to load Mint but turns off just as it starts to load the main xwindows screen. Your fixes don't wotk for me.

    • @LinuxAus
      @LinuxAus 2 роки тому +1

      @@EggheadFixers Yes I have tried but I was only able to get it to the same point and the machine turned off. The DVD works fine so I tried both with another version of the OS using that rather than my USB boot disk and the original boot DVD. No joy. What is worse is that all my problems started when I upgraded the RAM (and yes I put the original RAM back with no change). If it was like my desktop I'd try replacing the Video card but I'm useless around laptops.

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  2 роки тому

      @@LinuxAus Was the original stick of RAM installed when you reinstalled the OS?
      I would try these things:
      Make sure the hard drive is set first in the boot order
      If fast boot is turned on then turn it off
      Try switching between UEFI (CSM) with secure boot on and Legacy (CSM off) with Secure off in the BIOS settings. There are two boot modes in BIOS and switching between the two can sometimes fix this problem.

    My fix: Let the old p.o.s. rest for a few days. Then every time after that - take care to pause a moment or two before hitting the start button after opening it.
    Computers punish you for rushing them - even on freakin' start-up!
