The shooting gallery holds a special place in my heart. I remember going there with my dad as a little girl and he taught me how to hold the gun and aim at the targets. We had so much fun. If they ever take that attraction out, it will break my heart. If we're ever at the park at the same time, Chris, we should have a contest. ;)
You know.... I know you are talking to everybody but when you talk to us for some reason it makes me feel special. I feel like you are a modern day Mr. Rogers. I feel like you honestly believe there is good in anyone. Thank you.
I just want to tell you how much you brighten my day and make me feel a little bit happier every time you take a moment to tell your viewers that they are amazing. I was having a really rough day last Friday (or was it Monday?) and was watching your Pirates boutique secrets video and you said something similar and it immediately made me feel a little bit better!
Love the shooting range! It's definitely one of the more underrated Disneyland attractions. I just can't get enough of the cute little details all throughout the gallery!
i'm sure lots of people know this... but at the frontier land shooting gallery, the staff loads up all the guns with free play before opening... so if you get there first thing in the morning, you can shoot for free... no 50¢ needed
My Dad worked for Carnation company, because Carnation has a store on Main Street, we had a endless supply of ticket books with entry. No one in my family used the C ticket so I used them for the shooting gallery in the 70’s. Yes they shot real Steel BB’s. I had a blast there and learned how to shoot. Great memories.
I’ve still got my Pirates cap gun! The pistol with 2 shots. I love it! I had no idea they stopped selling them, but it makes sense. My youngest actually got that Zurg Popper on our top last month! It’s actually pretty cool. Great video! I grew up with the shooting gallery. Really glad to have it focused on so much!
I remember in the very early nineties. My family went to Disneyland. My baby brother was three. We went on the pirates ride and as we got out went into the pirates store. They had those would and teal pirate guns. He got one and it really was neat. Later going in the same store I was sad to see them all gone. Good times.
When I work as a security officer at Disneyland in 2002, I loved working on Tom Sawyer's Island because I would be able to dress up in the old US Calvary uniform (gold shiny US belt buckle and all) which included an old 38/357 Smith and Wesson prop revolver on my hip in a leather holster. It was the only costume in Disneyland that had a gun (minus the Jungle Cruise but the skippers didn't get to wear it)! Likewise, if you were able to work security on Main Street USA, you got to dress up as an old English "Bobby" from England and just like on the island, this was the only costume where the officer could wear a REAL Billy Club! There was only one officer per shift (two in total a day) that were allowed to work each one of those locations so you can imagine how highly sought after these assignments were. I'm so lucky that I got to experience this! Good times!
How cool would it be if Disney could develop a Star Wars themed shooting gallery for Galaxy's Edge? But instead of rifles they would use blasters. That would be so awesome.
Mister provost. I must say, the little affirmations in your videos lately have been really awesome. Love what you do. Keep up the awesome work. And you are amazing too!
When we were kids, my sister & I got wooden pirate guns in the Pirates of the Caribbean shop in WDW. If I remember correctly, they did have a bit of metal on them & I believe the end of barrel where the bullet would come out on a real gun was painted orange to show it was fake. Chris, you, Amanda, Miles, and the rest of your crew are pretty awesome too! :D
i also wanted to say a big THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUU for your positivity! i saw your IG story and yes yes yes to knowing that chivalry is not dead! Blessings to all of you :)
I absolutely LOVED my wooden, Pirates Of The Caribbean blunderbuss. Dual cocking action... popped the old, rolled, paper caps by the dozen. Good times.
Thank you so much for the videos, you make my day any time I watch them. I have no idea when I'll make it back to Disneyland again, but I love to watch yours, and Ordinary Adventures, and Offhand Disney!
Thanks for another video! We are going to be there in one week, for three days. Can’t wait! I am pretty sure since I’ve found your channel, I will be watching long after we are gone. Even if I wasn’t going to Disneyland, you have a way to turn my frown upside down!
My family and I LOVE your videos! You have such a sweet family and we love how you share those things you love with us. We love Disneyland too, we live in Idaho and don't get to go super often. So we watch your channel in order to keep the magic of Disney alive and well with us! I was trying to think of a Disney pun to include with this comment, but there are so Minnie good ones!
I still have the Disneyland guns my Dad bought me when I was a kid. Probably collectables now. My favorite is the Pirate musket. I wonder does Disney World still have them??
Interesting tidbit about toy guns in Disney parks - Back in 2019 my wife and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary in the parks. It was our first time staying at either Disneyland Hotel or the Grand Californian Hotel. We bounded each day with different outfits (Ariel & Sebastian, Wendy & Peter, Han & Leia, and Donald & Daisy). For my Han bounding outfit, I had a blaster holster, security near Disneyland Hotel would not let me through with the holster. I had no blaster, just the Han holster, but they said "nope." We tried again at the GCH entrance and they luckily let me through. I remember thinking, it is just a holster, WHY can't I wear it?! I'm glad I was able to pull it off. We have some epic photos from those days of bounding.

As a kid in the park in the 80s those wood and metal real life-looking Davey Crockett guns were EVERYTHING. Still got my large pistol! And i swear we were allowed INSIDE Fort Wilderness on Tom Sawyer Island. Sad to always see it closed off today. Aloha and Appreciation for Sharing ALL the Magic

Chris, this is so fascinating! Your extensive research of Disneyland has really changed the way I view Disneyland as a whole today. I've only done the Frontierland Shooting Exposition once and it was really fun. I've played shooting galleries a lot when I was a kid going to the arcades. I have a better idea of how to hold the gun and I appreciate you showing me how to properly hold a gun. Your friend, Andrea is so beautiful and she holds the gun super well! You mentioned about Char, I have her as a friend on Instagram and she is so sweet. I love her to pieces. Love this channel so much
Hmmm, Galaxies Edge has rifles in the queue to Rise of the Resistance. I also believe I may have seen one on display (not for sale) in the First Order store when it first opened. Not sure if it's there now.
I just subscribed because of this learning experience you provided! No, really. I failed my Rifle Shooting merit badge when I was 12 because I didn't know anything about matching the sites and only used the rear site, bro.

Nice shooting! BTW, you should use your dominant eye to aim. For most people, it's the same side as the dominant hand. However, you can test it by making a small triangle out of both your hands and with both eyes open look at an object through the triangle, then bring your hands to one your eyes while still staring at the object. I remember buying a Daisy “Spittin’ Image” Colt SAA replica (“un-BB-fied” version.) in the General Store, in Frontierland, when I was young. AND… Inside the store, there was an amazing display of actual firearms, mostly Colt SAAs, & the like, all gold-plated, & incredibly ornate & each was a work of art! (BTW… They even used to have gunfight shows, waaaay back in the day!) As a former Knott’s “train bandit”, & FT employee in the Overland Gun Shop, in KBF Ghost Town, this has been an interesting subject for me, & I’m glad you covered it! OH YEAH… (Nice shootin’ pard!😉)
@@donvergas4855 Really hoping to find a pic of the NRA sponsored display. Whenever I do get to visit Disneyland, I make a point of going to the very spot where the display used to be, last time… filled with shelves covered with plenty of t-shirts for sale. It is sad. (To me, anyway.)
Thanks for the tips on how to hold a gun properly. Now I might just have to go try it out next time I'm at Disneyland! 😁And you are a good shot! Almost too good! Lol
Just a correction, I am a muzzleloader shooter, the rifle is a copy of a Hawken. If you look at butt of the gunstock, you will see it’s curved, rather than flat. With these types of stock, you actually put it as high you can on your ARM rather than shoulder. If you wondering why old timer shoot with their elbow in the air, it to keep the rifle level.
The guns that are at the Shooting Exibition are actual firearms. They were made by Thompson/Center and are the Hawken model muzzleloader. They have been modified to be used in the arcade, but they still look quite original.
When I was in high school, I got to work at Disneyland for high school credits as part of a regional occupational program. I was offered a couple of locations to work, and I chose Davey Crockett's Arcade in Frontierland because I was thinking it was the shooting gallery. It wasn't. It was a merchandise store. It was still pretty cool.
Another good one! I had to take a break from the stationary bike (getting ready for The Big Disneyland Trip), to comment. When I watched The Mickey Mouse Club everyday (no, not the newer one. The ORIGINAL one), Mattel was a big sponsor, so they sold the latest and best toy guns. Mattel six-shooters, Derringers, lever action rifles, and even nice leather holsters for them. And then the ones that shot the Greenie Stick-em caps, making them "real" six-shooters. Even the Mattell burp gun, which you cranked up to tighten the spring. I had one, which was rare, since my family defined poor. Now, a certain segment of society would die of horror. Moving on to the shooting gallery... One day back in the Army --the OLD Army-- I was shocked to find out that I was able to hit a target (about torso sized) at 1,000 meters, and previous to that training I had NO experience with firearms. And no, no scope. Couldn't do that now. Part of my Army training incorporated shooting a rifle from the hip using a BB gun and practicing until we could repeatedly shoot a half-dollar sized disk thrown into the air.
Pretty fancy shooting there "Tex"! You scare me a little your so good. Perhaps I better practice a little before I challenge you to a 25 round shoot off, where you see how many targets you can hit in the 25 rounds the fastest. Ok, maybe not the fastest but how many out of the 25 shots..... Trivia gun for you. Did you know that the fort on Tom Sawyer Island, when you could go inside, you could go up into the towers, and they use to have rifles affixed to swivels that you could shoot the rifles. They had real sounding action when you would pull the trigger. Of course they took the rifles out a long time ago, even when you could still go in the fort, and up into the towers. Again, thanks for the memories "Bob". Haha
I remember the shooting gallery with the metal pellets and they would bounce off the metal targets and fly back and hit me in the face. Those were the days!
Hey this is Jason from DCA Games, I was working the resort, when they removed all guns, blasters, etc. But it happened after a Mass Shooting, long before they installed the Metal Detectors. Not sure if that is why they put that as their official answer, but It was an overnight thing.
I haven’t been on the island in such a long time, matter of fact I haven’t been on it since it was still called Tom Sawyer’s Island, does anyone know if they still have that fortress area where you could shoot toy rifles?
I had a tour guide tell me that originally when the guns shot metal pellets that they weren't chained down. Mischievous children would shoot other guests causing a ruckus. Walt had them chained down after that.
Not guns, but I think it's worth mentioning that along the cue for the Indiana Jones ride, there's a few casings/cartridges sitting on top of the furniture in an enclosed area.
I remember getting a wood and metal flintlock rifle, a rubber Davey Crockett knife, and raccoon skin hat. Then getting to meet Davey Crockett a few minutes later.
We like doing this after dark! It's cool how everything lights up.
The shooting gallery holds a special place in my heart. I remember going there with my dad as a little girl and he taught me how to hold the gun and aim at the targets. We had so much fun. If they ever take that attraction out, it will break my heart. If we're ever at the park at the same time, Chris, we should have a contest. ;)

With these types of stock, you actually put it as high you can on your ARM rather than shoulder. If you wondering why old timer shoot with their elbow in the air, it to keep the rifle level.
You guys are the best! ❤️💯
The guns that are at the Shooting Exibition are actual firearms. They were made by Thompson/Center and are the Hawken model muzzleloader. They have been modified to be used in the arcade, but they still look quite original.
My Dad worked at Disneyland, and he remembered how the targets had to be painted each night.
Very COOL Chris!!🏅
Thanks Chris!!
Much love to you!
Haha
Your awesome too Chris😃
I remember the shooting gallery with the metal pellets and they would bounce off the metal targets and fly back and hit me in the face. Those were the days!
Hey this is Jason from DCA Games, I was working the resort, when they removed all guns, blasters, etc. But it happened after a Mass Shooting, long before they installed the Metal Detectors. Not sure if that is why they put that as their official answer, but It was an overnight thing.
Dang! Going to have to try this next time. I was able to do all the targets minus the train. - Zoe
I haven’t been on the island in such a long time, matter of fact I haven’t been on it since it was still called Tom Sawyer’s Island, does anyone know if they still have that fortress area where you could shoot toy rifles?
In the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Universal Studios the guns have been replaced by radios.....
Lol, I hear the for next update at Disneyland the pirates will attend sensitivity training and resolve their differences by talking.
I'm kinda surprised to not see a hidden Mickey in the bulletholes on the sign at 1:21.
Chris is a beast at those guns😂
Also..once again..please do a green water system video..lots of opertunities for you to go..whaaaaat..
We love the Shooting Expedition. Every time we go to Disneyland it is a must do :)
It’s a classic for sure. 💚💙
I have about 15 orange tip toy gun from Disney from the trading post
I remember seeing barrels of wooden guns in Frontierland as a kid
