Happy that y'all made a trek to my hometown
So, which one the best to you?
Sas critiques the food so well… “very good, really fucking good, smokey”
“ no like it realllllllly Smokey”
SAS has no idea what hes doing LOL, hes ate lunchables, chik fil a, and ramen for the last 5 years.
“it has that smokey flavour….. you got that on yours?” like ya sas.. we’re sharing the same plate.
@@Imokay304 well duh, he never misses. still hilarious though
I’m from KC and this video SLAPS you covered it and you got the spirit of the KC people who make the bbq ❤️my heart hurts with KC pride
One of the best overviews of KC bbq I’ve seen! Well done fellas
Sas and i Played basketball together in high school, i had so much potential. i was 6'10 easily the tallest in the state. thought i had a free ride to college then Sas showed up. Kid didnt miss. i didnt grab one rebound all season now im some pathetic intern.
I think this is a lie
@@RickRaisin16 no he's telling the truth sas NEVER misses

Really balanced and well done. With almost 200 BBQ joints in KC you got to some of the best.
Too bad the missed the best spot. LC's.
@@Zebraalfadelta facts bro them beans are too perfect

@@ZebraalfadeltaLC's is what I consider true KC BBQ... The beans are king.
OMG. What a great episode. Food looks good but the characters with their passion makes the BBQ look so much better.
one of the best opening lines in any show ever..."every since I was a little kid, i've been eating FOOD"
This was probably the best video, it was really cool hearing a lot of these cooks talk about their process.
Those burnt end tacos looked FIRE 💯
They are... still nothing beats Gates.
Slaps is absolute trash
@@tomhatherford3283 you're on crack
As a resident of KC, I loved this video and how the city is getting its props as the best place for BBQ
Just needed jack stack
KC is trash, Austin TX is the BBQ capital of the world no question. I've been everywhere in KC yall gotta douse your shit in sauce for a reason
@@tomhatherford3283 you're just plain fucking wrong my guy
@@seeboone2434 ohhhh yes tell me how good yalls brisket is 🤣🤣🤣 🗑 burnt ends is all yall got and its hilarious. But anyway I know by your comment you are 100 pounds overweight and an even 100 iq
@@seeboone2434 how much eating have you done in TX and how much have you done in KC? I guarantee I've tried more spots in both
As a Kansas resident, Q 39 is sooooo god damn good. Their burnt ends were life changing.
Oddly the best one is now the one in Overland Park on Antioch. It's better than the on 39th.
KC joes is the best restaurant on the planet imho
@@padraig5335 And they're both terrible. I always say Q39 is what metrosexual hipsters on a friend date think BBQ is. Go in there...duded in v-necks with scarves eating dainty portions of over fancified nonsense.
You might not ever see this, but a hidden gem is Chef J's in West Bottoms.
Well done fellas, i live about an hour outside KC and theres so many good spots and each one offers its own unique experience. You did KC proud!
Slaps and LCs are the best ribs in KC.
Q39 and KC Joes for Burnt Ends
"It's the best BBQ in Kansas City, which makes it the best BBQ in the world." -Anthony Bourdain
Which place did Bourdain say that about? I always heard his favorite was Oklahoma Joe's.
@@Jackrabbitslime Oklahoma Joe's = KC Joes now. He said it about KC Joes (OK Joes for old school)
Makes sense, thank you
Joe's is 🔥
I love imagining the crew getting yelled at for going inside Gates
You know they weren't playing around as soon as they saw a camera. You can barely walk in there with your phone out lmao
Mixed plate all beef lean pleeeeeaaase!!!🤣🤣🤣👌👌👌
The second you walk into Gates "HI HOW MAY I HELP YOU?!?" If you ain't ready get outta here.
MIXED PLATE ASAP
BEEF ON BUN
A few other must stops with very different experiences… LC’s, Harp BBQ, Blind Box, B.B.’s Lawnside, Danny Edwards, Holy Smoke, Jack Stack & Buck Tui all are highly recommended!
Had burnt ends in KC for the first time ever last month from one of the famous spots. Holy shit they were incredible, as tender as a rare filet mignon, and more flavorful than a prime ribeye.
They're not difficult to make either. To maximize yield I'll separate the brisket point from the flat. Then smoke it until it's probe tender (about 203F internal). Then slice the point into bite sized cubes. You wind up with these pieces of beef that are charred on the outside but melt in your mouth.
@@JWFas Commenting to save this!
a porterhouse house beats ribeye anytime
Go to Arrowhead Stadium 🏟 then
12:20 “we are at a gas pump, and someone just spent $1.56…” -Rone
“Where they going, to the next pump!?” -Lil Sas
Doesn’t miss!
Neither of these guys has ever mown a lawn…
Next time you're in KC, you need to go to Woodyard BBQ. The Triple P is amazing (the "P" is for pork: pull pork, ham, bacon), and you *have* to have some of their Burnt End Chili. Fun Fact: It's call Woodyard because WAY back in the day they started out just selling wood to all the other bbq joints in town. Even though they sell their bbq now, you can still buy wood from them to use in your pit or smoker.
Great football team, great BBQ, what a KOOL city!
finally respect to the best bbq in the nation.
Great video guys! I had the pleasure of trying SLAPS, Q39, Arthur Bryants, Gates and Joe's KC. Did not get to go to Jones or Char Bar. Did buy Jones' sauce to take home and their sauce is out of this fucking world!! For me Arthur Bryant's came out on top and right behind them was LC's, which had the best burnt ends. Most burnt ends were tasty but not crispy like LC's. May Mr LC and Rob Magee....both REST IN PEACE!!!
LC's is goated. Slaps is always my first stop when I'm in town, just wish they had better sauce.
LC's is amazing but big t's has better burnt ends. LC's wins in every other category though.
I love Chicago (Italian beef gyros hot dogs deep dish)
I love NYC (pizza bagels subs)
I love Philly (cheesesteak pizza roast pork)
I love New Orleans (ettouffe Gumbo jambalaya muffuletta)
But there is one thing I love the most in USA.
BBQ!!!
And I love KC💚
I had the best brisket in Texas the best pulled pork in NC and Georgia but KC....its something special.
I love A Bryant's brisket sandwich with that sauce!!!
I love Jackstack and Joe's Ribs.
But for me Gates it's where its at.
My favorite its the mixed plate all beef lean please!!!
That sauce from gates i can drink it lol!!!
The ribs...omg that dry rub its to die for.

Thanks for the warm welcome to KC at the end of the video Nick Shneebly
Brother, I had slaps while watching this, and holy hell.
To cut it short, I can die happy today.
I fucking love Joe's KC BBQ!! Im hooked !! I am a full blown Joe's BBQ junkie!! Haha, shit I order from Joe's about every 3 months or so and drop anywhere from 120-200 bills each time! (Free shipping on orders over 60 bills, so no brainer ) It always arrives at the door very frozen and shipping all the way from KC to CT has never been an issue! It reheats phenomenally and tastes Smokey and fresh every time. The whole house smells like a true smokehouse restaurant very quickly as well, which is right up my alley. The BBQ sauce is some of the best I've had and I'm a huge fan of their french fry seasoning as well. To anyone who hasn't tried Joe's.....well I don't know what the fuck you're doing with your lives and you need to get on that, ASAP !! Even their smoked sausage is incredible and they offer it 2 ways. They have the original smoked sausage as well as a smoked jalapeno cheddar sausage version....do I have to say anymore ?? ....haha yeah, I didn't think so 👌👍👍🤙 👉👌 yessssssir !!
You spend $20,000 at Joe's every 3 months??? Dude how big is your family and what do you do for a living?
@@96redprelude hahaha, bro I wish I had 20,000 extra per month to spend at Joe's BBQ every month !! Nah, we will order between 120.00 bux up to 200.00 bux each time we order. And it's decent amount of BBQ for that price too. Def try it out if you haven't 👍👍

Great video, I love all the places you mentioned, however you missed out on BLVD BBQ on Southwest BLVD. Easily the best ribs, rib tips and burnt ends I've ever had.

Nick Schnebelen and John Paul Drum. Both are top of the line blues players in KC.
I'm starting to love son of a boy dad too
wow thought this would just be good, funny barstool shit but they made a great food show episode in general
I'm loving this show
Rone you don’t miss
I've been to Slaps. Real deal!
KING OF NY. LETS GOOO
Y'all were probably on a time crunch, and you definitely didn't come to my restaurant lol, but next time, you gotta hit LC's Bar-B-Q on the east side of town. It's a great place. Sadly, LC passed away a few months ago. They retired and closed his table in the dining room in his name. But you gotta go there for the burnt ends, beans, and ribs.
I also recommend Woodyard BBQ. They used to sell wood to other restaurants until they got in the game themselves. Very different rub from anywhere else, it's much more savory. Give it a shot!
Oof. LC's does get forgotten about quite often. And its 🔥
This series by rone by far best thing coming out of barstool right now!!
I agree saints kicker. Also donny’s channel is good.. the rest.. meh
Gotta give LCs a try
Fire
... Yes... Yes you do... You really do...
Enjoyed this. Everyone always forgets Bates City BBQ, 20 mins east of KC. Definitely our "go to" for BBQ. Won't break your bank like Q39 either.
Good shit, look out Fieri!
10:17 he explains every BBQ region perfectly
Didnt know Caleb got a haircut. Great Vid!
I'm from tx and I will go outta my way for a strawberry baked bean mix plate bae bae!!!!!!!
They missed this point: Kansas City BBQ is special because we will BBQ almost any critter in the barnyard or from the sea.
Texas: It's all about beef
Memphis: It's all about pork
Carolinas: It's all about pork too.
Kansas City: Beef, pork, chicken, lamb, salmon and other fish... You can order that every day at JackStack. 😃
Y’all gotta try chef J down in the west bottoms. Open usually on the weekends. He’s a home grown kc boy who is dedicated to bbq and the people!
The opening by sas is the most hilarious thing ever
Joe's Kansas City is hands down the best! They're all amazing but Joe's baby!
Joe’s is the best! It was a regular staple for me when I lived there! Worth the line!

Gates BBQ has its own sauce. Personally, I prefer Sweet Baby Ray's, but I spent 19 years in Chicago!
They all have their own sauces.
I'm a lifelong Kansas Citian who has been eating BBQ here for 50+ years. Sweet Baby Ray's is some damn good sauce. Yeah, I occasionally buy it and like it. 👍

Respect for getting the list correct
Arthur Bryants is the best IMO, love the paprika in the sauce. Then Joes and Jackstack are great too.
Definitely checking out Q39 and Joe's
My advice is don't bother. Joe's has jumped the shark long ago from their great roots as an actual hole in the wall in that gas station. Q39 is what metrosexual hipsters think a barbecue joint should be. Not any better taste, but definitely higher prices/less food.
