- While Nick Johnston stopped by Yamaha to check out the new THR100 heads and cabinets, we had a chance to talk about his thoughts on gear and its impact on playing. In this video we get to hear his unique insights along with some stellar playing!

Can loaded presets & patches be selected with a foot switch?
They DEFINITELY sound virtuoso capable, I'm saving my bucks cause they sound great WITHOUT having to police at my door for loud guitar
+Damon Stewart + its portable and reliable(no tube or transformer blown during gig).. And most important is it sound good, am i right? i was thinking to say it sound as good as a tube amp but decided to rephrase it lol.

Genuinely asking, does Nick actually use one of these (live or studio) in his rig? Or did he just show up to this for the sake of doing a commercial for you guys? I'm actually interested in a THR100 for myself, but also happen to really dig Nick's stuff, sort of blew my mind when I saw this video cause I didn't realize the two had anything to do with each other.
+Pradeep Patel I doubt it. He was playing Friedmans last I saw but that was a while ago. Nick has blown up since then and probably has his choice of any amp he wants these days. THRs are cool but it's not something a professional guitar virtuoso is going to use as his main amp. I saw him playing a Revv Generator at NAMM but I don't know if it was his, or if it was just the amp that happened to be sitting there at that particular booth before he got there. I think it was the Seymour Duncan booth.
+Brian Larson for what's worth Alan Holdworth played Yamaha amps live (the older and one of the first modeling amps. - also the guitarist for Pink Floyd (Doyle Bramahl I think and his tone is amazing) plays the same Dg amp currently - so that says a lot considering those amps are over 20 years old. Yamaha knows what they're doin when they want to.
+steve I still use Friedman amps, yes! I have a lot of good buddies at Yamaha and they wanted me to come and check out some of their gear. I had a blast playing with this rig!
