excellent video. Thank you for the detailed explanation. Ps, Liked and subscribed, FYI, you were mentioned in Joe Lamp'l Growing Academy! Yay. Shade is welcome while in this relentless heat this summer.
Tomatoes self pollinate. Tomatoes (fruit) burns when too hot in the direct sunlight, thus, shading is needed. Flowers will burn up in high heat fallor off in cold weather. Ideal temp is between 55°-85° Below and above that, affects setting the fruit, either not pollinating or flowers fall off thus no fruit. Too much humidity affects the pollination, also. Some tomatoes are more heat tolerant than others. Some are cool climate types. It is good to get a list of those so you can grow what is best in your area.
Hello, I recently rooted cuttings from my Donald Wyman Lilac #2 schrub. I potted them in containers with soil. I'm in the mountains of Colorado zone 4a. The sun is pretty hot and bright this time of year, late June. When I set them out on my deck they immediately started to wilt so I brought them inside next to my patio door and are looking much better. I thought I would put them under shade cloth back outdoors. I was thinking 50 to 60% shadecloth but all I could find yesterday at a Lowes store an hour away was 30% so I bought it. My question is, can I double layer this 30% and get more shade? Or should I find/order online something higher in %? Thank you for any help. Janie
zip ties and add more grommets ? I just accidentally discovered how hot the soil got in my raised beds (30 inch high 1/4 inch galvanized metal--old livestock troughs) and large round grow tubs. I'll be looking for ways to create large areas of cover.
What are your thoughts on colors, black green or white or a reflective aluminum? Would really appreciate your insight thank you so much for the video very well done!
hey i am trying to grow pumpkins in texas, but the hot heat is stressing my plants and preventing them from producing female flowers, what kind of shade fabric should i use?
Thank you for this helpful video. It was really hard to find other such videos on the subject. I was thinking of using either cotton muslin or jute hessian cloth for my four finger limes which are due to arrive in about a week. But do you think they will withstand tropical weather? My only other option is plastic nylon 'tree bags'.
Hi, do these mesh sheets catch the wind at all? I was thinking of setting up a patio cover, and I'd like to try a to layer a few sheets of mesh with spacing in between them so that I can have more shade but less wind damage than a fabric-style sheet.
Max temperature for capsicum is 27 celcius in my country Ghana, so you have to know the temperature of your growing area and select the best shade cloth by asking the supplier
I want to know if I can use shade cloth to protect parts of my lawn from afternoon sun and heat in zone 7 by laying it over the grass. Also, can I simply drape it over new plants to protect them?
@@Batwam0 On a 95 degree day, I put a thermometer under the shade cloth and found the temperature 10 degree lower under the cloth than above the cloth. So it helps. Since then, many of the plants in the area have grown and have provided enough shade without the cloth. In addition, the zoysia grass, which is more heat resistant than tall fescue, has taken over more of the lawn. So, I have less need for the shade cloth.
thanks, i am using it and noticing a difference but some of them aren't taking it and eating all my potato leaves.. i will keep spraying the neem oil and using nolo.. do you know if it needs to be changed out after a few days?
i just had to net my nectarines, i'm trying to keep my trees pruned to stay small, it's hard for me to net them if they get to big. so the birds are getting at your avocados? we had grasshoppers get our avocados and unfortunately they can get thru the bird netting.

How would you recommend connecting two large panels together? Sowing, gluing, or stapling?

I want to know as well. Did you find any solution for this?

Directly over the grass. The holes in the fabric should allow enough air circulation.@@Batwam0
Shadenet what about soil & water pollution from all that micro plastic?
Thank you..👍
What about hydrangeas that are in full sun?
Great video...lots of info in a short time....
Thank you😊
What about grass to keep it from burning ?
If your grass is burning, you have the wrong grass for your climate or it's not getting enough water.
Love this. I live in key west were even my banana plants are burning
Be careful bananas can be flammable
Very useful, thank you!
