I just heard your interview on the Vegetarian Zen podcast and now I’ve found your channel. Awesome!! Always looking for gardening tips and tricks. I’m in my second year of gardening ❤️☺️
Fantastic! Vickie and Larissa are awesome and I'm privileged to be friends with them. Thanks for watching and subscribing and welcome to the happy place!
Can I just use it by draping it over newly-planted shrubs that I want to protect during the hottest parts of the day in July and August and removing it when the sun goes down? Thank you.
Yes you can! The only issue you may experience is if it's windy the cloth may come off. It has this webbed quality to it where it will cling to stuff, but a strong wind can pick up the cloth.
@@augiewithgardeningforbegin5574 Thank you. Much appreciated. I will give it try and also try it a few hours a day in the afternoon on the lawn in July and August.
David Deane I didn’t check Home Depot, but the ones I saw at Lowe’s were nice but provided too much shade. I was shooting for 30-40% and theirs were much higher. Your area may have different ones, though! I know both places have regional stuff so it’s still worth looking into. I ended up getting mine on Amazon.
ibrahem kadhum it’s actually not bad! I’ve sat under the cloth and it’s much cooler than in direct sun. I think the cloth is also high enough to where most the heat it absorbs doesn’t get down to the soil, which is really what we want to keep cooler.
im in 9a as well and i think it is cool you uploaded this video almost exactly a year ago! thanks for the video
Beauty By Roo sorry for the late response 😇 but thank you for watching!!!
NICE PLANTS!
I didn't know it was so easy to set this up. Thank you I need to buy some for this summer I think it will be a hot one!!!
Thank you for sharing and will get the shade cloth, love puttering in the garden and growing tomatoes.
Edith Fejeran it’s been about two weeks now and my tomatoes are still flowering, so I’m hopeful this will work!

i have new tomato plants out now and the temps are over 90degrees...should I use a shade cloth until the intense heat is over?

Can you pick up the shade cloth at Home Depot or Lowe's?

Are you using treated wood?
Angela Salg no, i think it’s just old. 😁
Have seen some videos, that use white shade cloth. Have you considered the White?
Charles Coker I’ve seen it but haven’t tried it. Makes sense in this heat! Did it seem more effective?

To keep birds away from tomatoes hang a red Christmas bulb the birds will leave tomatoes alone, they are after the water in the tomatoes.
Yep! Squirrels and birds are more after the water.
