This just seems like a perfect way to do Arceus lore. Keeping it straight to the point and makes sense from a story perspective. Catching a God just seems to be so ridiculous, and I always disliked that was something the mainline games never elaborate on besides mechanics. This game tries to make sense of it all by saying it's a fragment of Arceus. Makes me wonder if GameFreak probably wanted to give Arceus more than just catch him on Spear Pillar during gen 4 D&P.
To be fair, mainline games never let you catch Arceus in the traditional way, the event where is found and catchable in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum is unfinished and was never officially released.
That fact that the arceus fight and what leads up to it is basically a updated version of the unused dppt event for arceus. Just makes me so happy man. That event felt like the perfect way to finish the sinnoh games and the fact it was never release for no good reason just never sat right with me. And now this is the first ever legit arceus to not be level 100!
Right, that form is just an avatar where a part of him resides. But it also had to be done like that so they could enable a rematch (you can rematch him and he is lvl 100), afterwards. The rematch is "another part of him".
Really makes me wonder what is arceus's true form? Is he just a glowing ball of light? Is he a blob of all the pokemon that is totally not nightmare fuel? Is he a fish?
@@Liberaaiytb Considering how Arceus was just left in the dust for what 15 years now? I could see Zygarde getting it’s own game in the future like this one too. I think Pokémon will have the traditional mainline series games as usual, a Let’s Go series and a Legends series. The way they titled this game with the separation from Legends and Arceus tells me they plan to make more Legends games focused around different legendaries who’s stories are almost nonexistent outside of the anime right now.
This game is a masterpiece but arceus wasn’t even really touched upon that much as I thought he would. Hell we get more info about the dp legends than him lol figured he’d be more involved in the story than he was like he was angry at humans or something like that
@@colepryor8651 GameFreak suffers from a special case of stupidity for not letting us explore the lore of Arceus as deeply as we should get since he's the mascot of this game after all. It's really a super wasted potential for such a fascinating legendary Pokemon.
Volo and Giratina are challenging and all, but Arceus was on a whole other level for me. He gave me my first legitimate defeat in the game and many more afterwards. The rematch is even more brutal and I hope to see more stuff like these fights going forward
I love this battle. It's so so difficult to survive, but it's also so consistent that you're able to form a strategy and a rhythm to get better each time you fail. The attacks are insane, but you're also able to form this really dangerous dance by attacking in between them for more efficient progress. You really feel helpless against the God of the game's universe, but the fight is designed fairly as well. That's a very tricky balance to strike, but it may be the most rewarding brutal boss I've taken on because of it.
This battle was legendary and hard asf. Didn't know you could zoom out like that. Everything had to be timed well and it just made the battle difficult but so rewarding to finally get Arceus
I noticed that Arceus also seems to change type depending on the opponent's moveset. Goodra has weaknesses against Fighting type but also Ground type. Arceus could have turn into that type but why did he choose to take the fighting type instead ? Because Goodra has Hydro Pump in his moveset but nothing against the fighting type. The same happened with Ursaluna, but this time, he was already in a type that would have been effective against him. Problem: Ursaluna has Play Rough in his moveset, so he took the grass type instead.
It has a new plate that you can use which automatically changes to whatever type is most optimal for the opponent it is fighting, pretty sick and very broken.
It's probably a algorithm in the game to determine which typing would be most effective. Say you use a Pokemon that has a dual type, the algorithm would determine which would be more effective. And some dual type Pokemon have a ×4 weakness to a certain type. Just speculating

The detail of Arceus using biblical terms like "thou hast" is a great touch. The people who write the Pokemon franchise normally try to avoid making obvious references to religion, even with Arceus and Giratina who are as close to God and Satan as Pokemon will ever get. Having Arceus speak in that distinctive way, on top of stating "I bestow upon thee a PART of myself" to hint that we've only witnessed a fraction of this entity's true power, really sells that you're face to face with the literal god of the Pokemon universe.
This is it. At long last, the true battle against the Lord himself. It's clearly a test, for Arceus is all-powerful, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, he exists and will always exist, he wasn't created, he generated himself, he was there since even before the beginning, when everything was just a black void, he was there, all-powerful, almighty, the Original One. He will always be, he will never die, for the Lord is and will always be. He created Dialga and Palkia as embodiments of his eternity and transcendence, Giratina as the embodiment of his incomprehensible being, the Lake trio as the embodiment of his omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence.

Right, that form is just an avatar where a part of him resides.
But it also had to be done like that so they could enable a rematch (you can rematch him and he is lvl 100), afterwards. The rematch is "another part of him".

Boss battles are so crazy glad they brought a real challenge to the game
