STALL the BODY! // TWIST the SHAFT!!

  • Separating FOREARM TWIST from SHOULDER TWIST in the transition is critical for increased DISTANCE with LESS EFFORT!Many golfers restrict ARM movement and WRIST articulation, leading to SLICES, PULLS, and inconsistent contact.
    It’s so important to create ARM SPEED in the TRANSITION. We need enough speed to DECELERATE! Remember the arms slow down as they approach impact and that’s what transfers energy to the club head!
    Our ARMS controls the VERTICALS, while the body controls the HORIZONTALS in the swing. STALLING your shoulders as you change direction helps you sequence your ARMS with your BODY.
    Our body should DRIFT diagonally, the arms work DOWN in front of us , and we TWIST our FOREARMS to square the club face! The grip simply returns back towards us, and the club head works out away from us - that’s the RELEASE!
    I hope you enjoy the video!
    Get after it!

      @@AndrewEmeryGolf It’s weird, Andrew. I watch so much UA-cam golf content. By definition, they’re general in their focus. But your videos seem to be personally tailored to me, as if you’re directly answering my questions. They’ve had a massive impact on me. I’d buy you a drink if you were still living here in Blighty!

    This is it. It works. This guy is teaching money concepts. 90% of all teachers out there are pushing the wrong concepts for club golfers. They are pushing the body swing on golfers who aren’t using their hands. I now work on stabilizing the body on the downswing. The body does turn, but it’s not my intent. It’s a reaction. I’m hitting it more solidly and consistently than I ever have. Thanks, Andrew!

    It was much more appreciated that that Andrew...I really do think this video and all the others that it is connected to is of great value to the golfing community and in your style of relating information on the how, when, and why of the golf swing many steps ahead of the many other instructors on utube. Putting it all together in one video has given me a 360 degree picture of what the influences are that govern the movement of the club heads travels back to the ball. I sincerely hope that you get all that you are hopeing for from your work and If I could do anything to aid in your success I would do so. Love your instruction for us mere mortals! Absolutely the best instruction that I have seen for amateur golfers! I really appreciate your explanations including the “why” behind each point and the fact that you always point out which type of swing each point applies to. I don’t think everyone does a good job of explaining that on the front end and unfortunately it isn’t always obvious to those that don’t study swing mechanics regularly. I truly appreciate the time and effort that you have put into this and many of your videos/lessons have helped me tremendously. I have recently shot my 2 best rounds ever at an 82 and 84 which was a 10 stroke jump for me. I did notice on those rounds that the biggest difference was staying out of hazards off the tee and then chipping and putting well. Oddly enough my iron play was a little off in both rounds which is usually my strong point. Regardless of score, I have enjoyed the game so much more being able to swing more freely and consistently with your instruction. Thank you Andrew!

    Andrew- I set up with my trail shoulder closed, trail arm under lead arm, and try to keep my back to the target as long as possible. My trail arm is going under my lead arm. I had a spinning out move as you described. This stopped that. I swing in to out on down swing, and fire with full extension through the ball, hitting a small draw. I hit a high tee shot that carries well, for a 70+ year old golfer. Very solid contact. My grip is strong, that naturally closes the face. I don’t have to think about it.

    I assume the amount of twist one would need to add coming down would be relative to how strong the grip is? I have somewhat of a strong grip and when I focus on twisting the shaft I end up wayyyy closed by the time I reach impact.. shanks, pull hooks, you name it

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  27 днів тому +1

      That’s correct. A very strong grip requires more release in lead wrist extension with less rotation.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  27 днів тому

      Mike, I’m free wheeling! Impact of course isn’t a position! Trying to create forward shaft lean or lag is counter productive for most! I like to send my speed home. It’s not a flip but rather a throwing motion with the arms relaxing/extending and of course rotating! I will say that I’m very cognizant of swinging ‘through’ the ball rather than AT the ball! Hope that makes sense!

      Ok so I a built a bit more like @toddheugly - a fan of you both and I love the L to L .. it’s changing my game and at 67 easier on the body than what I have been trying to do for 40 years..(era of Nicklaus high hands for a stocky guy only works for the supremely naturals like Jack and John Daly..) .. A question for u both.. I actually am hitting more consistently with the closed stance drill. For shorter irons for sure.. but it looks funny.. plus I haven’t tried on real turf yet only on the range mats ( maybe would miss low point - hit fat?) what do you guys think ? Should I try taking the radical closed stance to the course? I notice Clement has a version of this he suggests at times.
