Not sure if Josh is reading this, but I love the name sign you chose for Alexander Hamilton and how you based it off Lin Manuel Miranda's interpretation of Hamilton's genius: making it look like his thoughts are exploding out of his head.
So what is the sign you chose for Eliza/Elizabeth? I couldn't quite catch it. It was just too fast! (im hearing and im learning asl as a means to help with my high functioning autism)
Even within Angelica's first line I was captured by this because he put so much emotion into the face. And just in that first line you could already see longing and envy and sadness in his eyes
Raseon Hansen After watching Deaf West and some other deaf actors in various things, one of the most interesting things is how much use they make of their facial expressions, since a large part of sign language relies on that as well. They are so incredibly talented
Lauren Crisp so does that mean you're straight, bi, or gay? Not that it matters really, I just don't understand why you used the day to describe the extent to which your sexually may extend?
Josh Castille is my spirit animal, inspiration, role model, and dream. Having almost the same level of hearing loss as me, Josh is able to perform with outstanding amount of talent. I was born 80% deaf in one ear, and 12% deaf in the other, so I know what's like to only hear small amounts like Josh. The fact that he made it on Broadway makes me so outrageously proud and happy for him. His dreams are coming true, and hopefully one day, so will mine.
I've seen some Hamilton asl covers and to me this is by far the best! I don't know the language, but the interpretation, energy and all those different characters are SO well done! Congratulations to this guy.
I know very little ASL but I am taking ASL for a world language credit this year and I’m thrilled. I’ve always loved ASL I think it’s really interesting and I’ve always wanted to learn but I love seeing the way the different people sign.
i have never cried during Satisfied until i watched this. Josh put so much emotion into the song and i saw the song from a new perspective, thank you for that Josh.
Goosebumps. Just goosebumps! Best performance of this song I've ever seen! PLEASE Deaf West, DO Hamilton as your next Broadway show!!! Lin Manuel Miranda HAS to see this!
I really cannot get over how well Josh conveys a massive slew of emotions with literally only his face, and occasionally signing style. In this one song, even only when he's playing Angelica, he perfectly conveys her deep sadness and regret covered by a somewhat performative joy for her sister, but also perfectly captures her short mocking/teasing tone at the "he's penniless he's flying by the seat of his pants" and "peach fuzz and he can't even grow it," along with all the combined emotions of Angelica realizing Eliza is completely smitten with Alex. Even her tiny aside to herself, "Nice going Angelica, you were right, you will never be satisfied" he drops the mask he had just had while introducing Alexander and Eliza. Truly every second, every line, every story beat is perfectly planned out and executed. Absolute mastery of the song and its characters.
This was an awesome video..loved the facial expressions and the mouth morphems that were performed in this video.. His facial expressions were on point and did an awesome job all around.
This was such an emotional and well done performance! I just loved it so much. I'll admit I don't know much sign language, but Josh's ability to flow from sign to sign, and from emotion to emotion, transcends the language barrier and its amazing.
I know a little bit of ASL (enough to appreciate this amazing rendition, I am now obsessed), but what is the sign he keeps doing where he takes his two fingers and and flips them around against the palm of his vertical other hand? He seems to do it on the words "at least," but what other uses does the sign have?
Lauren Weise I think at the end where the lyrics are, "And I know, I'll never be satisfied." (In regards to her sister marrying Alexander) he may have been signing something along the lines of "This means I'll never be satisfied." But I could be wrong.
Lauren Weise Ah, yes, I know what you're talking about. That sign is used for the word "mean" or "means," as in meaning something. Essentially, he signed "This means I'll never be satisfied"
I was actually looking for covers of Satisfied and came across this by total accident. I did not expect it to be in sign language and my goodness let me tell all of you how amazed I am. I love this song as it has a lot of meaning to it but to see this man signing the song, its absolutely beautiful. I am blown away. Well done!!
God I just clicked on the video out of curiosity cause it kept coming up in my recommended and then Josh walked on and I was like "OH THAT JOSH I LOVE HIM"
Josh you are truly a gift to this world. I don't have the privilege to see Hamilton live so this was just beautiful to be able to see the emotion of Angelica in this song. If there is ever a Deaf West Hamilton, I would be totally fine seeing you as a gender bent Angelica
As a second(ish) year student of ASL and major in theater, I love love these videos so much! I love that music and storytelling can transcend language, I love the beautiful movements of ASL, and I'm proud of myself that I can at least mostly follow along. Thank you for sharing this video of this amazing talent and passion. (And, as a girl who is always jealous of the guy's rolls/songs, I totally understand where he's coming from lol.)
although Josh is deaf, he is an amazing actor with his emotions! you can see it in his face in this song especially and with spring awakening during word of your body reprise he can show so many emotions through his face and his hands!
im a huge fan of hamilton and also a hearing person, but ive been teaching myself asl and pse. ive also recently saw a commercial with this guy in it. it was so beautiful. i just had to watch the video! it was great!
Captions for the song, as well, would be lovely. Not all deaf/hard of hearing people are fluent in ASL, and it is still nice to see how the words unfold along with the ASL song.
Oh my god look at him!! I am very impressed and was not expecting to tear up again after hearing this song hundreds of times over. His emotions were absolutely perfect and I loved everything about this :)
I'm pretty sure I've watched this 20 times today and I refuse to stop. He is so talented and he makes me wish I could learn to sign. Also he's absolutely gorgeous which is by no means a compliment and mearly a fact😊
does anyone actually have like the translation to signs ? like in words? bc i know its not signed english and im curious as to what josh translated it to??
It's never direct translation as sign language has it's own grammar, this is American sign language there's one for a lot of different countries. The best way would be to get a class or books and videos or apps
How have I not seen this before?!? He's got such an expressive face. A beautiful interpretation of the song. I mean... RAPPING in ASL?! That's talent right there!
I'm glad to see that scrambling to perform all the parts in a song featuring multiple characters is a universal experience. I guess it might be a bit easier with signing since you don't have to worry about when to breathe.
i forget how amazing and wonderful josh is and then i see things like this and I'm just like THIS PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS!!!
He just rapped using sign language....I have reached a new level of admiration
The rapping in "Hamilton" is one thing, but doing the rapping in "Satisfied" using sign language is a whole new level of amazing
@@broadwaybrook2319 it's incredibly insane
Not to be dramatic but this is one of the best things I have ever seen
Honestly, he could sign a phone book and I'd watch it.
sAME
Do u understand sign language??
Swede Potato Pie y
@@JayJasperLondon a little I am learning
Signing a phone book? I guess it'll be a lot more finger spelling and a lot less expressiveness
I love how he made Eliza have heart eyes when she saw Hamilton. That was really cute 😍
Not sure if Josh is reading this, but I love the name sign you chose for Alexander Hamilton and how you based it off Lin Manuel Miranda's interpretation of Hamilton's genius: making it look like his thoughts are exploding out of his head.
argella1300 i thought it was because of his hair?
+Angelica Calabro really it's both.
argella1300 it's probably got to do with the sign for "lion" as well, as in real life Hamilton was called "the little lion" in the war.
Good catch! I didn't think of that.
So what is the sign you chose for Eliza/Elizabeth? I couldn't quite catch it. It was just too fast! (im hearing and im learning asl as a means to help with my high functioning autism)

listen i am gay as the day is long but i would marry that man in a heartbeat
Lauren Crisp same
me being gay as the day is long is the reason i'm attracted to that boy
Lauren Crisp so does that mean you're straight, bi, or gay?
Not that it matters really, I just don't understand why you used the day to describe the extent to which your sexually may extend?
WHY IS THIS ME
RedStreakReviews _ some gay people have straight crushes on people. Like how a straight man has a "man-crush" on an actor for example.

Sending all my positive thoughts towards your dreams. Never stop fighting with your passion. Go for it. Don’t let anyone stop you!!
So can you still hear this partially?
@@indigo-arts Yes. The hearing in my left ear is pretty good, all things considered. So yeah.
Good luck!
Does Josh have limiting hearing? How do you know?
I love how he made Angelica more vulnerable than Ive ever seen before through his facial expressions
I really hope that a Deaf West production happens with Hamilton! With Deaf West, it'll be a theatrical triumph guaranteed
his smile shines with the light of a thousand suns
I've seen some Hamilton asl covers and to me this is by far the best! I don't know the language, but the interpretation, energy and all those different characters are SO well done! Congratulations to this guy.
And we have to consider this is one of the most difficult songs to sing. Maybe it's equally difficult in asl
I know very little ASL but I am taking ASL for a world language credit this year and I’m thrilled. I’ve always loved ASL I think it’s really interesting and I’ve always wanted to learn but I love seeing the way the different people sign.

He is not just interpreting the lyrics he is also showing the hesitation behind them. BEYOND amazing!
He is BEAUTIFUL. I'm satisfied!
Someone cast this man in a deaf production of Hamilton as Angelica
How not to fall in love with him?

That was amazing! Did I shed a tear? I did. I did shed a tear.
He is such a great performer, watching just his face during the song was heartbreaking, I loved it!
This was such an emotional and well done performance! I just loved it so much. I'll admit I don't know much sign language, but Josh's ability to flow from sign to sign, and from emotion to emotion, transcends the language barrier and its amazing.

Lauren Weise It's the sign for 'meaning/purpose/intent'. And example of this is, "What does that mean?" or "What is the meaning of _____?"

Everybody who loves this, Josh has his own YT channel at Joshua Castille. He does music videos there. Damn, he's good.
he is so talented oh my goodness
I love how the signs for groom and bride both kind of look like raising a glass for a toast. that fits really well with this song

OMG THAT'S ADORABLE
God I just clicked on the video out of curiosity cause it kept coming up in my recommended and then Josh walked on and I was like "OH THAT JOSH I LOVE HIM"
I think my new favorite thing is how Eliza being helpless over Hamilton is just shown as heart eyes
WE NEED A NEW DEAF WEST PRODUCTION STARRING JOSH LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!!
show this to lin. DW should do this next
If Deaf West did Hamilton I would cry
Yes the things I would do to see that happen

I can't stop watching this video. He made me cry, so talented!!!
AND pretty, c'mon.
wow. so amazing. his face in the end so summed up all the emotion in this song
I love how he showed the different speakers with his body position.

He nailed this performance from emotions to total captivity of his audience. Just SPECTACULAR. He rapped in sign language y'all.
We legit watched this in my American Sign Language class and we've been watch Hamilton for the pass week
This is officially my favorite video in the existence of the internet.
HES SO????? BEAUTIFUL??????? WTF
the emotion in his eyes... the way he switched so easily between characters... this man is a wizard

I cannot believe that he is also deaf, the lip syncing was perfect, this was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen
Captions for the song, as well, would be lovely. Not all deaf/hard of hearing people are fluent in ASL, and it is still nice to see how the words unfold along with the ASL song.
I started tearing up and the song had barely begun, what’s beautiful sorcery is this?
Oh my god look at him!! I am very impressed and was not expecting to tear up again after hearing this song hundreds of times over. His emotions were absolutely perfect and I loved everything about this :)
ASL plus Broadway actors is the best combination for a stunning and dramatic performance.
That was so much fun to watch. His expressions are amazing.
it's like a choreography - and his timing is spot on
I'm not crying i'm not crying i'm not crying i'm not crying i'm noT
tears in my eyes. i loved this

I wish I could see him perform live!
Me: tries to memorize this whole thing to prove Hamilton love
He is just amazing.
I love this ❤️❤️❤️ they should hire him for tour
I think got more goosebumps watching this than the broadway performance on Disney
does anyone actually have like the translation to signs ? like in words? bc i know its not signed english and im curious as to what josh translated it to??

Am I the only one trying to imitate this because it’s just so amazing?❤
I would literally die for him. I saw him as Romeo in Seattle and he was amazing.
(Reaches two arms high above head, vigorously shaking hands)
My sister signed this song for her ASL 4 song. He was such a big help!!!
seriously on repeat for the past 3 hours
wow he really draws you in with his face deaf or not he's a true performer
He captured her emotions so well. Love this dude for that. I also finally understand elizas moment of seeing hamilton.
How have I not seen this before?!? He's got such an expressive face. A beautiful interpretation of the song. I mean... RAPPING in ASL?! That's talent right there!
Lin Manuel Miranda needs to see this
that was amazing. so moving
I love when he turns his hand back when he says "I know my sister like I know my own mind" and how he slows it down a bit.
I'm glad to see that scrambling to perform all the parts in a song featuring multiple characters is a universal experience. I guess it might be a bit easier with signing since you don't have to worry about when to breathe.
i'm so mesmerized by him and his signs, people who know sign language are so talented
Can't stop watching 😭 it's so good
Can we just hug this beautifully talent young man? He amazing no matter what
I think I just got how great this song is.

Ok this is top 3 most beautiful things I've seen in my life. I'm actually crying.
My teacher showed one of his vids in class and I was amazed by this man
This performance made me cry the first time I saw it
I cried, he put so much emotion into the song
holy cow that was insanely good
What a precious smol boy!
I’ve seen so many people perform this song and honestly after Renée this is my favourite
Why am I just now finding this beauty????
You made me cry like the first time I heard this song.
This is so awesome, what a beautiful smile you have and what awesome talent you bring to this beautiful language. Blessings from Heaven!
HE'S SO SWEET I LOVE HIM
Wow. Incredible. No hesitations at all! Great job!
