The Chinese are getting extremely good at building guitars. In fact they're getting good at building a lot of things. Maybe it's time for us in the west to start doing some of our own manufacturing so we can compete?
They just need to pay someone to correct their English so they don't get ridiculed .
Love seeing stuff like this. I'm 49 years old and when I was a kid, the cheap stuff wasn't that cheap and typically very poorly made. It was a serious barrier to entry for kids like me that were part of lower-middle and lower class families. Now, there's a plethora of inexpensive but decent to good guitars that a parent can get their kid without coming up short on rent. Pretty awesome. Thanks for spotlighting this, ZG!
I grew up in the 60s i bought my first guitar and amp for $35 at the Magazine/Soada Shop, small town,
Made in Japan back in those days, just like the Made in China now. We had bands, we got hired at Hich School
dances and Teen Clubs, and Local Friday night Rock concerts at the Armory. You made it work,
We didnt know any bettr, but by the time we were half way through High School we got Gibson SG, and Fender
Bandmaster, and for bass a Fender Mustang bass and Fender Bassman. I still have a place for those cheap
guitars and amps. we first had,
I’m 59 and when I started playing in 1980 an entry level guitar was basically junk now you can get nice guitar for $200.
@@user-wk9wq8yq5u Right? Makes me so happy for young players these days that they can get good guitars and not put their parents in the poorhouse in the process.
Oh dayyyuummm.. this looks like a viable ESP Eclipse inspired guitar..... pretty insane what you can get for $179 these days ( in 2023 money too). Back when I was a kid lusting for even just a LTD version of an ESP Eclipse, they were way above what I could afford. All black hardware and a hotrodded humbucker spec too.
Correct just like a esp
I remember getting a cheap Les Paul Custom clone (Aspen) 40 years ago. Beautiful guitar. It was special because it was my first guitar i bought new for 300 bucks. I remember i would tune it and the open chords sounded nice. But when I tried chords down the neck, man, it was very out of tune. So I sold it a year later. Enter eBay. Went crazy buying used guitars. All imports, but crazy cheap. Started to tinker with them since they weren't expensive. I wish I knew then what I know now about guitars.
Long story short, I wish we had these good cheap guitars then.
Thank you for taking the time to review so many affordable guitars.
We are living in a golden age of affordable guitars.
I am old....lol...o l d ...and the stuff available for under 200$ is fantastic
If a guy gets him some good nut files and learns to use em and takes his time and does a basic set up he can have an absolute gig worthy guitar for not much more than dinner out for a party of 6.
Rock on!
WHAT?!?!…..dinner for a party of 6 is Gibson money…hahahahaha!!!!
If your a cheapskate and easily satisfied.
Contrary to some other comments I have seen posted the Stoptail bridge can go any way. Check it out at various forums even Gibson guitars that use it can be shipped either way. If you have problems with intonation switch direction of saddles to give you more room. Their is also a UA-cam video explaining the geometry.
I've known this guy a few years now and he's a straight shooter he's got some great deals all the time.
I used to play with some older guitar players in my local scene. Lots of experience to be gained and tricks to learn. One friend in particular who passed away told me that when he was young a budget guitar was actually straight up bad. Like no trussrod, frets all over the place, pickups that were microphonic af and all that good stuff. Neck issues constantly. Those guys never gave up. To be even to be able to get a guitar for this amount of money in this quality. I mean out of the box they need work. They get fabricated in a different climate other end of the world. Get slapped into boxes, get stored, get shipped across the ocean and somehow they hold up. In Europe we have Thomann and Harley Benton same kind of ballpark in terms of price/performance. In the old days the Japanse stuff was cheap and actually good. He told me how mind blowing Japanese Squiers were back in the day (JV models) later Korean stuff came also pretty dope. Nowadays China is picking up pace. Can't knock it for the price paid.
I have a Harley Benton LP type, I got it for free with a Guitar synth. For 120 dollars with a set neck, you really can't go far wrong!
At $179 on Amazon and the Fesley website, I'm not surprised that they have sold out. However, the Fesley website states that they will be available again from March 2024. Looks like a pretty good guitar!
Mine had the bridge on backwards. All I did was put new strings on and polished the frets. It sounds and feels great.
The bridge is installed “backwards” because one can’t intonate the guitar with the large bridge pickup which, would block the screws.
Thank you for checking out!!🤟🤟
Any time
Great review, and I especially liked the English lesson Prof. Zimm. 😁
the pickups don't sound beefy enough but I love satin black finishes pretty much on anything.....I thinking of getting one form myself.....great buy!
Love the writing on the box.
That’s a pretty good guitar for a beginner. I love this for whoever gets it
Hey ,that looks like a great guitar ,great playing ,love your vintage classic Rock style ,and always love watching your videos, keep up the great work !
SOLID BODY: The guitar body and neck are crafted using premium mahogany, ensuring durability and a high-quality feel. The fingerboard is mainly made of exotic purpleheart wood, adding to the instrument's longevity.
I am guessing they must have died the wood black and Purple Heart is a nicely dense wood.
Must have some good weight to it as well.
How do you know all of this?🤔
@@MrJohnnyDistortion that was copy and pasted from their website. Since then I have found some issues with the guitar. For example, the body is not made of mahogany. It’s made of poplar. They did not use jumbo frets. There is a grounding issue on the bridge which causes a buzzing noise.
I have been in contact with the company and they are aware of the issues. My advice going forward is not to order any bridges out of China that are powder coated. It is usually better to go with plating as that will not cause an insulation issue.
@rattyguitars
I only purchase guitars that I can play first. Primarily Gibson SG's or Certain Fender Strats. I'm a hard-core traditionalist.
@@MrJohnnyDistortion then you would love my 197825th anniversary fender Stratocaster that my parents got me in high school. One of the few guitars that did not turn completely green because of the silver finish.
@rattyguitars
I might. There have been very very few Strats that have ever felt neck comfortable with me with the 9.5 fingerboard radius. One of them was a dark natural stained body rosewood Highway One that I didn't have the money. I went back and played a few more but they weren't even close to the one that I picked up. A simple Strat that was like liquid.
Very cool video. Thanks for sharing
I know it’s been said many times over…but that is a million times better than my first guitar was…and probably cheaper👍
Wow been playing for a little while, still suck but that is one of the coolest guitar I seen, pond my Dean the other day and I seen a
tribute guitar to motley Crue fell in love with it . Just like I did when I Sall this guitar. Truly love it. Love to have one .
I just got one. Best inexpensive guitar I have ever played. It was perfect out of the box, except for one flaw - I had to file the fret edges. Big deal! The neck is shaped perfectly for my hands. I am amazed at how great the pickups sound. Buy one. You won’t regret it.
Every American Strat I have ever owned needed the sides cleaned up.
Many more expensive ones need that ...
Even a beginner deserves better 😝
I thought the box typo was intentional at first, to be funny/clever. If not it's odd they can't get someone to proofread. Love that finish, reminds me of my EVH stealth black.
Who knew I'd get a spelling lesson this early in the morning!? 🎉
Looks good! Would have been killer if the binding and logo were in gloss black.
It's very cool that fesley sent you that guitar...
For the price its pretty nice 😊 its really something to consider
I'm older and looking to get back into playing guitar regularly.. I didn't want to spend a lot to get started again, and this looks and sounds great for what it cost. I ordered this exact one.. Snobs be hanged!
About a year ago, I was noodling around at my local Guitar Center and a guy asked me what a good starter electric guitar might be. I went to the used rack and there was a consignment Squire Strat for $80 bucks. It was set up OK with decent action, the pots rolled up nicely and looked fine. It was on a deal where it was Tuesday, but you couldn't buy it til Thursday (why, I have no idea). I told him to be first in line Thursday morning- I hope he grabbed it. Long story short- find a guitar playing friend without a commission to earn and troll a couple of stores.
all the black hardware and bodyshape including binding is identicall to my white harley benton custom active.
Sweet guitar! I dig it! Cheers
A good,honest review 👍
Nothing inspires more confidence in an elecratric guitar than it being of the latested design.
beautiful guitar
Any chance of a comparison to a Donner please? Thanks, very informative review. Thought I had made a choice but you have given me cause to pause!
seems like a good kids type guitar for sure for lessons and learning
Bruh...you managed to improv some riffs that sounded like every AC/DC riff and none of em all at once. You ARE rock n roll.
Your first sentence was, it’s a nice gig bag. That struck my curiosity because you had not touched it yet Your second sentence was they gave it to you. So this is not a review this is a commercial that you were paid to do with product.
Glad it didn't slice the tips of your fingertips!!!
Rolling Stones: Let it Bleed
As long as you’ve got the right gear for the guitar, you can make that guitar sound like a higher end guitar. Plug it into an El cheapo amp and only Paul Gilbert and the like, can make El cheapo sound decent. 😂 Great review video, Dane.🎸👍
I’ve always wanted an elecratric guitar.
Fretboard Material Type Techwood, Neck Material Type Mahogany, Body Material Poplar
Great video 👌
There are 2 things I like about that guitar the matt black finish & the depth of the body, Gibson could learn something about that slimline body it looks fantastic and because we all know that the idea of ‘tone-wood’ is nonsense it shouldn’t have an effect on the output.
It's very esp-ish isn't it. Apart from the bolt on neck of course 👍👍
It is the best electratic guitar I've ever seen! 😂
You could repost when you have the spec sheet in front of you, instead of we people following your guesses.
Slammin guitar dane! One of my subs did a review of this guitar, pretty good for cheap
The monotone finish looks great on that and suits the satin look.
I always wanted an Elecratric guitar !
I want one of those "latested design" guitars!!
Really want one
I'm sold.
With the Latested Design of an Elecratric Guitar, you guys are gonna have to start calling me Elvis Fesley 😎
thank you for correcting the spelling man!
Any time!
I will be honest the charvel copy one is very good great neck profile a fat term block nice dinky body sets up and plays great.
Very pretty guitar.
Nice looking guitar!
Did you get black dye from the fingerboard on your hand ?
Hey man, let's pay attention to indio guitars. I have two fender copies that were under $100 and my lord they are GREAT. KICK ASS strat and tele wannabes that absolutely are better than most of the squires for twice the price. Or 4 times the price. Really. I'm a pro musician and I'd do advertising for this brand proudly.
Nice looking guitar.
🤟😁👍Looks like an ESP. Nice finish.👍
I took you word for it sir. I got one couple of days ago and I think its a pretty decent guitar and like you said fun to play also. Thanks for the cool video and take care.
Gee People, relax with the negative comments.. You get a guitar at a price that fits the guitar. You can send the guitar back or just not purchase it if you're expecting high quality.. Please keep in mind that Gibson sells their guitars ( same quality ) at a much higher price ..
Sold out
Seems nice for the price! 👍
14 year old me would’ve been thrilled to have one of those under the tree. 42 year old me wouldn’t mind it too bad either. I wonder if that fretboard is a composite resin deal ? It looks pretty good.
Someone on UA-cam builds an Iron Cross out of one of those in 3 2 ..
Amazon says the neck is Purpleheart wood, which is evidently known for durability.
@@TRHummer I saw a video where another company uses the sawdust and some resin to make their fretboards and they look like ebony or the stuff Gibson was using a few years back, like a synthetic fretboard material and it sure looks better than all the rosewood substitutes in my opinion. The fretboard on these looks similar nice and dark but who knows. If it sounds decent and plays good at this price it’s worth it.
I meant to say fretboard, not neck. That was an error on my part.
@@TRHummer ok makes sense now.
I doubt, a beginner will have a hard time playing a cheapo guitar to the point they will probably quit. Night and day difference between junk and “real guitars”.
I've never bought a guitar were the strings weren't set too high so that doesn't even bother me. Still a nice looking Gibson-esque guitar. Hope it can last.
This would be a fantastic guitar without the fret inlays and with a white binding on the neck and headstock.
Anyone know any solid budget options that ship to Canada other than Indio?
This is yet another budget guitar that doesn't ship to my area.
How does it compare to a HB deluxe active or gotoh?
It amazes me the quality of guitar you can buy today for very little money. For the cost of an average ticket to a Major League Baseball game you could instead buy your kid a very playable guitar. That’s a lifetime investment.
Looks like my ESP LTD EC-256 Satin Black but neck thru and passive pickups on mine
Set neck on your 256 not neck thru.
@@Mzry13I think that’s what I meant lol, thx
Nice man...👍
It would be worth considering, if they offer left-handed models
IYV has some lefties listed on Amazon right now, priced right. They build for many guitar lines we recognize like Dillion, Wolf, ESP/Ltd, Harley Benton and others. Highly recommended.
We do have lefty versions of our existing Strat and LP guitars in the works, maybe available next year.
Amazon shows that it a mahogany neck with purple heart fretboard and poplar body.
Wow this Les Paul looks like Esclipse.
The least you could do for a free guitar is know the F it's made of.
Uncle Fesley!
& actually Leo Jaymz makes a set neck flat black LP style guitar on Amazon I'm kinda curious about. So is this the best guitar on Amazon? Seemingly, you sure would have to review A LOT more, to properly answer that question.
What setting were you using on your multi-meter for testing?
Ohms
Seems like a perfect guitar for a new heavy metal god.
How can you do a guitar review without a specification sheet? You're guessing on what materials the guitar is made of.
We’re a unique breed. Don’t you have guitars sitting on the floor? Hey. New guitar!
Cool post
What does $180 buy from your used selection.. I feel like I would get way more for my money that way.
They don’t even have these LP style guitar to sell. I looked everywhere none to be found
The fret wire looks thin, to me. Is it?
Why the pick up covers.wouldnt that affect the sound negatively?
Sold out until March 2024 unless you want a pink LP.
Nice guy . I think that's a pretty decent axe . Would like to have seen his views if he'd lowered the action a bit .
Look like the old school frets. Needs medium jumbos.
I bought a low end Gibson 335 I removed ever bolt nut and screw replace pickups with good ones replaced bridge saddle keys tuners switches wiring diodes everything now I have a real guitar for nowhere close to real price
Could they put their name anywhere else on it? Its a Fesley. Can ya tell?
I kinda dig it
0:03 Elecratic Guitar!! Does it have High Intergrity?
I have just looked for Fesley guitars on Amazon UK .They are a no show but I found Fazley guitars which are mainly acoustic ! More spelling probs ?
It's a elecratic guitar. Latested design?
Elvis Fesley wus thar insprataaation
"Elecratric Guitar Latested Design" 🤣 (It's actually writen like that.)
And the it goes on:
"Create a graceful tune, enjoy Fesley life. Every note is alive, every Fesley has a living soul.
The moment you lay your fingers on Fesley, you're starting a conversation with life, communing with souls and Changing your life."🤣😂
It sounds like Fesley, whoever he or she might be, is up for more than just a bit of strumming. Which dating agency is this from?
"Fesley, The New Cool". Yeah, right.
I like it
