ProLogik balance meter and tuning tool
www.prologik-a...
The meter is of a high quality and works really well. Not only is it great for helping to find perfect balance in stiff mounts but it is a fantastic aid to fine tuning your mount for the best guiding. It will assist you in adjusting your worm drive/gear mesh to the optimum setting and giving you great smooth tracking and excellent guiding numbers.
Absolutely superb Glenn my friend, you've outdone yourself! :-D Huge congratulations on such a cracking image of the dark shark mate, impeccable!
The whole video experience was just ace though, felt like I'd came along with you mate! Thanks for taking the time to record and share this outing, I really enjoyed it!
Clear skies!
Hi Luke. I was super stoked with that image as I had tried to capture it before from home with no luck. You do need good dark skies for these targets. The Cloud camp was amazing mate and you should definitely try and come along in the future, I will definitely be going to as many as I can as it was such a great experience.
Wow, that Dark Shark looks great!
Thanks Chuck. Been chasing this for a while and finally got it thanks to the darker skies.
Great video Glenn and a superb image at the end. It was good to meet you, hopefully catch up again at the next one!
Thank you Andy. It was very nice to meet you too. Let’s hope we have clear skies at the next one too.
Looked like a fun experience. The Dark Shark came out great.
It was great Logan. I was very happy with the Dark Shark. Nice when a plan comes together
Cheers, Glenn! Looks like a fun trip, and the image is great!
Thank you. It was really a lot of fun and very successful. Thanks for watching
Great capture of the shark and PGC 67671!
Thank you Barry, Thats excellent you know the little galaxy's label. I didn't even know that was there, nice bonus
Great looking Shark Glenn those darker skies paid off!
Thank you Ollie, they really make a difference. Makes me want to move now lol
Beautiful Shark Glenn! Grats on a successful camp.
Thanks James. Yes one of those targets at home is just too washed out by my skies. I can’t wait to do it again
Great video, looks like a ton of work😄 thanks you for sharing! Awesone image!
Thank you for watching and commenting. Was a lot of work that video but I had a great time and wanted to share the experience.
Awesome capture
Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
Well done as always! 👏🍻🔭
Thank you Ron.
Great video - Thanks for taking us with you on your astro camper trip. - Liked it very much! ...your night sky time lapses and Dark Shark nebula are awesome!! Clear skies
Thanks Tully and glad you liked it, i had a great time. Clear skies to you too
@@Astrobloke It's really great to have such a camper. Flexible and enough space for your gear. 👍🏼
@@tullyfisher its kind of ideal. Just installed a mini lc to my rig so I can remote to it from inside the van. I used to go camping on my motorbike but was so limited to what gear I could take (Astro especially) so sold that and got the van.
@@AstroblokeI guess that was a very good decision with regard to AP! :)
Can I ask one thing: How do you manage your astro gear power consumption? I shortly saw some connection at the camping site. So will this be mandatory when making trips or are you using an external/ separate power supply or the van battery as well? (Still thinking about buying a 500W Jackery or something for my setup ..at some point in the future.)
Really cool. Enjoyed watching
Thank you Garnett, glad you enjoyed it. Clear skies
Nice succes and seemed a lot of fun!
Admit it, the cold is just an excuse to "warm up"! 😂
Thank you mate, yes it was great fun. I really don’t know what you mean ? …😂😂
Great video Glenn and very impressive image
Thank you Anthony I really appreciate that. Clear skies
What an awesome trip Glenn! 5 hour drive, wow!! So worth it though. Beautiful image of the Shark. One of my targets to do for sure this year. Clear Skies
Thanks Isaac. I look forward to seeing that, Bortle 1 will really help.
Awesome Video Glenn.
Loved the timelapse and images with the big tree and the capture of the sun set.
Looked like a good event. I would love to start going to future cloud camps my self.
Amazing image of the Dark Shark. Fantastic job mate.
Thanks Ben. It was a great trip and experience and I highly recommend you come along to one if you can. The dark skies really helped make a difference. Clear skies mate
Brilliant Acquisition Glenn, Nice One on such a Faint Target, I even see a Galaxy Right Next on top of The Blue Star In your Image. Quite a Faint one!
Thank you mate. I love that little galaxy. Didn’t even know it was there so was a lovely surprise. Clear skies
Blimey, lot of room in that thing 😛
Do you mean the van or the toilet tent lol
@@Astrobloke The van. Lots of them down here in Cornwall.
But I'm glad you got a roomy loo tent too 😛
Absolutely brilliant. One of the Best sharks I have seen for a while, the star colours are gorgeous. The little galaxy you captured in there too looks so good.
Thanks Mark, appreciate all your support
Hey Glenn,
I was watching your video at Cloud camp, great video and great image of the Dark Shark nebula, its first time I have seen it, thanks for sharing bud🙂🌠
Thank you Corin. Yes its a great target, a little difficult to capture and you need dark skies, I cannot get this at home
@@Astrobloke great job bud🙂🌠
Great video & image Glenn I were spoilt by the weather when I went to my first star party in Hereford crystal clear nights & warm sunny days in March 2012.
Glad you had a blast I remember watching Mick's live feed when you were all there.
Thank you mate. I was definitely spoilt weather wise. Maybe having the surname Clouder (no that is not a joke) lol is a blessing. Maybe one day we’ll meet up on one.
The only star party we're going to this year is at Kelling Heath at the autumn star party we may get to go to another one but can't be 100% right now due to lack of free days off work.
Would be great to meet up again though.
@@dumpydalekobservatory well I hope to go to the IAS later this year if you are going to that. Let me know. We should grab a coffee
what a fantastic adventure and that image is amazing. well done.
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, never thought you would get three clear nights from the look of the day time. Glad you all had a great star party. First time I have seen or heard of the Dark Shark - very cool. Hope you continue to have good luck with your Astro Van trips.
Thank you Richard. I was kind of weird, cloudy during the day but come nightfall it all just cleared to show this beautiful dark starry sky. I was very lucky. It’s a target I have been after for a while . It’s in Cepheus. Up and left a bit from the Iris Nebula
What a great trip and a great image! So lucky to get that many clear nights in a row and when you were going away too!
Thanks Mark. I was so lucky to get the weather too. I really enjoyed the adventure and plan to do much more. Clear skies
Really enjoyed that Glenn. Lovely video and amazing pic. I’m def coming to next CC. Just need to get a smaller tent, I’d never get my gear in the car with the huge air beam tent we’ve got.
Hi Jim. Thank you mate and will be great to see you at a CC. It was great fun mate, like PAS but with tents. I am watching your star colour video, this region has lots of lovely stars for that. Some subs were out of focus so may see what I can do. Clear skies mate
@@Astrobloke yea just something a little different.
Amazing image Glenn! I will probably have to wait a bit before I get to shoot that shark again. I will go mono on it this season. My OSC version is on my Telescopius account.
Thank you Martin. I will be sure to check it out.
Great Dark Shark Glenn! Looked like quite the adventure. Really liked the TL of Orion and the cars. Excellent Adventure!!
Thanks Jason. Would be a good one to try from Alpha Scorpii 👍. All those cars and planes whizzing about probably oblivious to the beauty above them. Had a great time, looking forward to your new camera results, CS!
Currently figuring out the scope I want. I want a visual scope to look with whilst I learn astro on a 200mm telephoto.
Gonna get me a 130pds! Cheers mate. You convinced me
The 130 is very nice visually. If you also only want it for that you can also just get the 130p which is a little cheaper
What a great trip! Amazing to get 3 nights of clear skies. Love the Dark Shark, but I think your timelapse work is also really good, I particulalrly like the blue tree timelapse, gorgeous.
Thank you so much for the kind comments. I love doing timelapses and so pleased you think they came out well. The blue tree o e with Orion constellation behind was a my favourite, bad battery planning cut it short unfortunately
That was brilliant Glenn. I really would love to do this one day. Clear skies to you. Love your Images
Many thanks. You should go as they are great
I'm guessing this is a rich mans hobby lol, great video, now you got me wanting things I never knew I needed. Aaaaargh thanks lol it staggers me what technology is now available to home hobbyists.
Hi and thanks for watching. Like all hobbies it can be a deep rabbit hole. But if you have a DSLR camera you can get into Astrophotography with just that and build slowly from there, its what I did
What a fun video Glenn! Felt like I was there myself lol! Awesome image of the Dark Shark man!
Thanks Joe. I am glad it felt like I took you along as that was my hope. Wish you could of been there with me. I’m really pleased with the image results too, clear skies man
Great video Glenn, looked like you had a fantastic time! How lucky to get 3 clear nights in a row at Cloud camp! Awesome image of the Dark Shark, and beautiful shot of Orion! I’m going to have to get to a cloud camp some day!
Great job mate👍 Clear skies
Thank you Simon. I was so lucky with the weather and well pleased with the image I got. You definitely need to get to a camp, you would love it. Hope to see you soon mate. Clear skies
The best part of the video for me was you making a Cappuccino in the morning . I think you need to rename your channel AstroCivilisedBloke 😁
Lol, i can never be too far away from a decent coffee. Glad you liked it, clear skies
You win just for the "You're going to need a bigger scope line", LOL But DAMN, that is a helluva photo on such a difficult target.
Was out at a dark sky site and just before leaving decided to take a shot at it, only got 7 3 minute subs, just to see what I could get and a 50% moon was up, but it looks promising, so definitely next on my bucket list when I go out there on a moonless night.
Thank you , really appreciated.
good luck with it. Needs a good amount of data but I love this target and one thats well named.
Amazing image as usual. Shark is high on my list but I dont think it's worth it with the DSLR
Thank you Nick, appreciate your comments as always. Its a very tough target but OSC can capture it well as long as you are in a very dark site. So will depend on your sky conditions. When I tried this target from home it was a fail. The Bortle 6 skies just washed it out
@@Astrobloke Yeah Bortle6 with a DSLR is going to be miserable
Excellent video Glen! Dark Shark is extremely impressive, and loved the time lapse! Was that a nifty fifty lens you used ?
Thank you Simon. I used the nifty fifty f1.8 on the timelapse that had the cars at the bottom. The others were done with a Samyang 14mm f2.8.
@@Astrobloke Thanks Glen, something new for me to try one day - cheers!
That is a fabulous image Glenn. Is that a galaxy behind the "Sharks" dorsal fin?
Hi Clive and thank you. I was very happy with the results and yes it is a small galaxy. Never noticed it before, will try and find some details on it.
Very well done! I've got a 4 day dark sky trip planned for the end of this month. Let's hope my M101 is anywhere near as nice as your Dark Shark.
Thank you. I am sure it will be, wishing you nice clear skies. Let me know if you post it where so I can take a look.
Nice!! Did you use a coma corrector for the 130PDS?
Thank you. Yes the sky watcher 0.9x CC
Hey I’m going to my first star party in Northern California end of June.
What scop to take what targets to image.
Nice one Dan. Yes that is the big question. I nearly took my EQ8 and CT10 because all the big targets are not visible here now. But decided to keep it simple as it was my first trip. Had a great experience and I am sure you will too, clear skies mate.
I'd love to know what settings you chose for the timelapses and for how long you generally timelapse to achieve them? How many cameras did you have doing them? Also, how did you 'lightpaint' that tree? Those stars with the dark shark are pinpoint and I'm wondering what the small galaxy is in the field also just off the shark's back?
Thank you for watching. I use 2 cameras to take my timelapses. The day to night one was with a GO Pro10 in nightlapse mode, I also use my EOS R with various lenses and just set that manually. The go pro can be plugged into a battery bank allowing it to run all night if I wish. The dark shark came out grea but then we were at a really lovely dark sky location which helped lots. That galaxy is a spiral galaxy known as pgc67671. I didn't even know about it until I had edited this image and saw it myself for the first time. Nice bonus.
@@Astrobloke What exposure setting/shutter speed etc using the EOS R and time delay between shots? I like the timelapses as much as anything. Were they taken on a simple tripod or driven with the AZ GTi? Or both?
@@Astrobloke Yeah the galaxy is a nice bonus!
@@markwelsh9068 i cannot remember the exact settings but normally i set at Iso800 f2.8 then a 5 sec exp with 5 to 10 sec interval. Longer interval for faster moving stars this is all with my samyang 14mm. If using my 24-105mm F4 RF Lens I’ll push the ISO to 1600 or 3200. The EOS R is not noisy. Ny older 70D was not as good so lower ISO like 400 and say 10sec exp. From just a fixed tripod. The only timelapse do e on my AZ GTI was the last one of Orion sinking to the horizon
@@Astrobloke Cheers man. Appreciated. Are you still doing the video on all the software and connections etc? If you are, please remember to make it easy, yet detailed, for simpletons! 🙂
