I saw Jimmy live in 1986 (the year this song came out) and he was breathtakingly good live. I took my son to see him a couple of years ago and he was still phenomenal. The man is a living legend. I also saw INXS in 1986 and they were also brilliant live. INXS are really worth a deep dive. An interesting fact, this song was a cover of the original by The Easybeats. The guitarist and song writer for the Easybeats was George Young, the older brother of Angus and Malcolm Young from AC/DC and he also had a hand as a producer for some of AC/DC’s early music
A few fun facts, this is a cover of an Easybeats song, recorded to promote a tour of Australian artists, with Jimmy and INXS co-headlining.. the song was recorded in one drunken day/evening, and the video was recorded in the studio, during recording, yes, you’re watching the real life recording of this epic song…
Just saw Jimmy fronting Cold Chisel two weeks ago for their 50th anniversary tour. They still rocked, their energy levels through the roof and playful as ever. Took me right back to the eighties and my teens. To make it even better, I got to share it with my freshly turned 18yr old daughter for her first concert. Watching her sing and dance front and centre, close enough to catch Jimmy’s sweat, I was excited, proud and confident that the Chisel legend will continue for decades to come at least.
Epic cover of an iconic Aussie song from the 60s by the Easybeats! This version was used the The Lost Boys movie. INXS were huge in the late 80s and early 90s. Their 1991 Wembley Stadium concert is just awesome, any song is just brilliant but What You Need, New Sensation and Devil Inside are my current favs!

Jimmy is heard 3 times in the movie The Lost Boys…… and other than in Australia, most people would not have a clue, and yet he is my number 1 artist. In fact we have 2 of the best front men for their bands, and the musicianship of INXS is brilliant. It was produced to end a show called Australian Made where Jimmy Barnes and INXS were both headlining. There is a live version too which also features Chrissy Amphlett of the Divinyls. There is also a backstage clip of Michael and Chrissy together and they had huge chemistry.
Jimmy and Michael were close mates. I recall seeing an interview with Jimmy where he said he had been with Michael a day or so before he died in Sydney.
The Easy Beats brings ACDC into play, with George Young of the Easy Beats being the older brother brother of Angus and Malcom & the producer of early ACDC songs/albums.
I love suicide blonde. Reportedly written by Michael Hutchence about his Australian GF Kylie Minogue Also I’m sure you have heard of “never tear us apart” Also Michael and Jimmy were great friends and after he died Jimmy spoke very highly of Michael. Also Bono was great friends with Michael as well Plus Michael was very good looking.. one of my friends went to a pub gig of INXS very early in their career and partied with the band after the gig and she said Michael had an aura about him and my friend was at university at the time and she said that Michael came across as very intelligent and spoke to her about using music to bring attention to to things like racism and sexism RIP Michael a great frontman ❤
Do you know anything about Ado? Many people think that she #1 vocalist in Japan, but I think she id #1 in the entire world. Can you check her "Show" for the start? I asked it because it is very deep rabbit hole. She only 22, but already has ~150 songs) ..

This song is from the pen of Vanda & Young in 1968 as an aside George Young is the older brother of Malcolm & Angus of AC/DC
INXS in its day were one of the best bands in the world especially live and their performances at Wembley were iconic
