I have a 2021 and took the plunge in unlocking my DME by Femto. I was also the guy that said I’d never ship my DME out, but I just got sick with the alternatives, like running a jb4. So after a year and change of running the jb4 with an E blend and maxing out the car, I decided to work with Euro Performance Center to have my DME unlock. The whole process, while pricey at $1600, was super easy and seamless. EPC was easy to work with and super responsive throughout, answering each one of my questions. I removed my DME on 2/8 and it was returned back to me on 2/21. The worst part of the process was the wait and being without a car for nearly 2 weeks, but now that I’m running a bm3 with a pure 800 tuned by Paul Johnson, it was soooo worth it. If you got alocked DME and are on the fence, just do it. You wont regret it.
@@chrisginoc The B58 Gen 2 seem to always run lean with anything over E30. No matter the adjustments made to the jb4, it always reverted to running lean, so thats when I said F it, and went with a proper tune. The JB4 is okay, not going to bash it as its the beat piggyback unit on the market, but its still to limited in its functionality. If I were you, Id skip the idea of getting a jb4 and go the femto route.

I had my 21’ M240 09/21’ DME unlocked with MHD+ sent to FEMTO with Europerformance center who hand delivered. Got my DME back and still was not able to flash tune a MHD map. MHD had me speak with BimmerEcu who was able to source me a DME from straightsix autoparts from a 2019 440 that they were able to clone after receiving all the proper encryptions from my locked DME. spent well over $2200 on the whole process but it’s well worth it. Full Frame turbo coming soon 👍🏽
Short story. I got a custom tune on my 2015 340i (in 2021) Then in 2022 a bmw dealer updated my DME from 2015 built to 2021 built. I went back to the tuner and he was able to flash my tune back right away using obd.
what the tuning community needs is a different DME, maybe running open source software. If only there was enough documentation available to be able to make one.. there are plenty of software developers that are into cars that would jump at such project.
There is an issue with all of this. Basically, if you need to replace some module, the newest software update needs to be installed in order for the module to work. According to the dealership. In short, boom, locked DME again!But i know that tuners can sort that out but that dealerships are required to do the update and cannot do it otherwise.

I have a 2023 manual transmission Supra. I was told by a tuner that I could send the dme to Femto and they would unlock it then I could run a Reflex Motiv with it. The other option is to clone the ECU to another ECU and run Ecutek. The former is much cheaper. But according to your video it seems option one won't work unless I'm misunderstanding you.
Option 1 works but only with BM3/MHD. Ecutek does not support the regular unlock. Also You don't need a tune to run reflex since it's a standalone controller. But most people do them together depending on your goals
@@kern417 so my goals are 600whp on 93 octane and if that's not possible then 600whp on e85. I also don't want to go the route of cloning and Ecutek due to the cost. So what should I do?
I bought a 2025 f30 car has a tune on it but idk what kind of tune if its on e85 or pumped gas how can i tell or i would have to reflash the entire car all over again
4:50 I’m confused. I have a 2018 model with 2022 software. I was still able to unlock via OBD today. How was this possible being I have a software update after 10/2019?
Not on this subject but I'm having a major problem car has been down for one year. A Mini Countryman R60 I am trying to Flash the Cas3 Plus and cannot unlock the OL15Y I am able to read the Eeprom file and the Flash File I can also write the Eeprom file but not the Flash file as none of my tools are unlocking the chip. Is there a tool than can unlock this chip. I have used Autel IM508 and VVDI Prog without success? can anyone help. Thank you
Hey kern, I’ve been looking all over about this information and I feel like you have the most info i’ve seen on the internet. I got rear ended in april of 2021 and had my 2018 440 tuned with bm3. I had to go through insurance so they had taken it to a bmw dealer and locked my DME. Am i still able to tune my car with Bm3 after I bench unlock my dme? (not completely sure but u can assume that my ecu is the newest version/model)

I connected to the obd agent before i bench unlocked to make sure i can still access bootmod3. I then tried to get the obd agent working after the unlock and wasn’t able to get it flashed because the obd is not connecting for some reason. Basically my device is not able to connect to the obd port in my car. Do you have any suggestions?
Ok so I just ordered my 2024 m340i rwd,I’m leasing the car but at the end of the lease I plan to finance the rest of the car, which is when I would start to tune it, the lease is 3 years, so you think within the next 3 years there will be easy ways to do this ?
Is there no hope for them to finally unlock the newer ECUs? I bought a 22 Supra and was hoping by 2023 they would have finally be able to unlock the ECU but it looks like there’s no hope lol

There are plenty of options. They're called standalones. They just cost $10k+

Personally i would probably wait but no telling how long it'll take. Femto is your only option for a flash.
