There is a certain vocal tone only created by devastating grief. It's like they can pull the sound from a deeper place because something broke inside them. The courage it takes to then display, even perform that vulnerability to the world is a hallmark of a special kind of artist. Thank you, Victor. @@santimaidana3337 Her used to be a duo composed of this guy, called Victor Solf, and Simon Carpentier. Simon was the one singing this song in the original version, but he died from cancer in 2017. That's why Victor is singing it as a tribute to his lost friend.

Im an outsider, didn't know this French group... I kept wondering why this singer had the body language of a national anthem singer and the voice of a bleeding heart. If you're in my position, no matter the year it is for you, I want to share the reason. "Simon used to sing this song", indeed. HER used to be a duo. Cancer took the counterpart. This is the part that now sings alone, in his name. 💛

I'm pretty sure the people thinking it was h.e.r. were trying to be disrespectful. Honestly thought so myself but stayed since the song was good. It sucks about his friend though.
I didnt know about his band mate. I did't even know that they were a band it's the first time hearing from "Her". But he is for sure a great musician!!

C'est touchant. Le fait de savoir en lisant la description, que c'est en hommage à son meilleur pote décédé. De le relire sur son visage, dans son timbre de voix, ... on partage sa rage, presque. On arrive même à imaginer que ces 5 minutes dont il parle, c'était peut être son pote qui les réclamait fréquemment quand ils bossaient leurs compo.

This guy is interesting. It is pretty impressive, you can tell he means every word he says down to his bones. Which makes his awkwardness kind of cool and refreshing. His moves reminds me of George McFly, Marty's dad from Back to the Future. This is probably how he would look like if he danced and sang.

It's both for sure. You can only sing from the place he's singing from if something in you has broken recently. Everyone has to bear that level of pain at some point in life; but very few have both the determination and talent to actually give it voice. This is a very special performance.
