Adrian infiltrated the government, knew every move Oliver would make, made a whole new identity for himself (went from Simon Morrison to Adrian Chase, learned everything there is to know about Oliver including who his teacher was, had his teacher teach him so Oliver couldn’t beat him, and in the end Oliver still couldn’t beat him. The season ended with Adrian killing himself in an attempt to kill all of Oliver’s friends and loved ones. He was technically the only person who Oliver didn’t defeat.

Every time Oliver fought chase it was almost 50/50. Oliver eventually becomes a much better fighter than Malcolm to the point where they aren’t even a match anymore but Oliver was NEVER able to handle chase.
It’s writing guys , you never understood the concept of nerfing the characters like we saw in arrow Malcolm merlyn is like a beast in saison 1 he was almost unstoppable, in season 2 we didn’t saw him a lot , season 3 he outsmarted both nyssa and Oliver in the same time , he has over 20 years of training by ras al ghul so automatically it will make his battle iq far better than Adrian’s one But unfortunately in season 4 he got destroyed by Oliver… how is that possible ! I swear I could never forgive cw for what they have done to this peak character
