I’m a deathmatch player who mainly plays dps, and I admit fighting a tank as dps can be annoying. But I think the calls for the removal of tanks from a deathmatch is stupid. It’s a skill issue if you can’t win a game of deathmatch with tanks in it.

Me and my friends used to follow a similar rule in Super Smash Bros Brawl. We'd do a four player FFA random select and if anyone got Ike they'd be hunted down to the ends of the earth by the other 3. Justice... sweet sweet justice.

@@sadchild9478 It was because it was a hectic 1vs1vs1vs1. No teams. The best tactics were haymakers or avoidance of eachother. Ike was good at both of those. He could hold a small area and throw haymakers. Ike was terrible in a 1vs1 in Brawl, but in a FFA he was the king. It wasn't that the person who got Ike spammed, it was that his buttons were long and powerful in a game mode that we all were taking constant damage in.
If you get a chance to do a 4 player FFA in Brawl, try it out... pick Ike. You won't regret it.

I have to say tho... I kinda wish they have never added the "Win 7 arcade games" challenge, it used to be for the funnies and now everybody plays it to win like a ranked so they have the 7 games and can back to comp or quik, totally ruined the spirit of arcade of havin healthy fun

Yes this! This killed so much of OW1 for me when they added 'win 9 games to get 3 loot boxes' in arcade. Suddenly you started getting people yelling at you in Mystery Heroes, it was awful.
'Play 9 games' would have been fine, there's no need to make everything have stakes and turn arcade into competitve shouting matches
Ngl, I actually wouldn't mind it if it was less wins and if Mystery Heroes was back in arcade. Imho it was kinda the only arcade mode worth playing.

My “ethical” way of getting my 7 arcade wins is queuing with a group and memeing no limits and hoping the other team is also willing to commit to the bit(legit the most fun match I had was 10 torb players lol) or suffering through exceptionally long games of total mayhem because it’s awesome. (I have a replay of a 26 minute push bot match from Total Mayhem if anyone wants to see what I’m talking about)

Here in Australia, it is impossible to get 7 games of arcade in a week let alone win all 7.
Sitting in a 3v3 queue for 2 hours only to give up on trying to find an arcade game, one day the 1v1 gamemode is available, try grinding all 7 wins, the queue times are still worse than qp and every player you beat gives up on queueing arcade, shortening the pool of players available.
I got the coin line challenge done for the first 3 weeks of OW2, back when there were players, but it's basically impossible now unless you get a large group together to queue for the same gamemode.

There used to be a competive capture the flag. People really loved this game. Symmetra was actually good too for once.

I think of they made more than 1 dedicated CTF map and locked it to 1 Tank, 2DPS, 2 Support, the game mode would find broader appeal and fix some of its issues.

Btw incase anyone wants to ruin this game mode because blizzard doesn't gaf, kiriko can teleport and the flag will drop exactly where she lands, and not before. Meis wall makes it easy to block off flag holder. Meis icicle healing ability can block pickup of the flag at very specific placement. Literally Lucio exists. Pharahs can fly, they just can't boost. Bastions rocket jump obviously works. That's about it, kriko and Mei being the best, and then Baptiste being the best healer for them because he can set his invuln where kiriko teleports. You win.

Hog in Arcade has the same energy as the Punisher in that one prison scene in Daredevil season 2.
Except Hog is a thick slab of unkillable meat that barely bruises.
At least the Punisher gets the shit beat out of him, bones broken, face bruised, skin cut, fucking lungs almost collapsing. Hog is just nigh invincible.
That's the issue with Hog and Zarya to a lesser extent. On their own they have amazing self recovery (Hog breather, Zarya shield), AND they're already beefy, AND ALSO they deal crazy damage with super strong ults.
I'm all for tanks being hard to kill, that's kinda the point right, that and to push the enemies around and pressure them to create space, that's warranted. But when they can support themselves super well, then also be supported by teammates, and deal crazy damage as their DPS deals crazy damage, it becomes this teeter totter with a heavier person on one end.
We need to examine the point of Tank, versus the point of Zarya, the point of Hog. Zarya is not just the tip of the spear, she IS the spear with her beam. I have a wild idea, what if we turn her beam into a flamethrower? Spread the damage out evenly in a wider area with a shorter reach, maybe inflict burn, but massively decrease the upper cap of the damage range. Then, her bubbles could only reduce 80% damage but also maybe spread fire around itself in a short range? Plasma fire of course.
For Hog, he's a "sniper" who punishes poor positioning with heavy damage and heavy recovery. I think Hog's design is great but what if enemies could shoot it as he's reeling it in to break it? The hook would have to be slower, and not instantly breakable, but it could be a built in counter.

I love how in Overwatch 2 they made all of these changes, but didnt really do anything about the other modes. Open queue is more Broken that its ever been, Idk why is It still a thing, normal deathmatch is also worse than ever, not only because of broken tanks, but since launch you can respawn literally 1 feet away from people. And for mirrored deathmatch(the only arcade Mode I often enjoy) they literally forgot doomfist shouldnt be on rotation anymore

Capture the flag can be really fun, but it depends on if your team moves together or not. Too many people will "stay on defense" and get their ass kicked in 2v6 or 3v6. Or they rush in alone.

Today I went against 2 road hogs in deathmatch that were teaming, I thought just playing hog was the lowest it got. I beat both of them with zen. One of my proudest moments, I got second and they got 3rd/4th. I 1v1d a hog multiple times
