Interesting to see what captured people's attention back in the 30s. In this case ease and speed of travel. Think of it: 50 years ago from today, there were uninteresting vehicles coming out of Detroit along with an oil embargo fueled energy shortage. In the 30s? Fifty years prior to that were 'covered wagons' and newfangled picture taking devices (cameras). The telephone was in it's infancy, Electricity in homes? Fuggedabout it. During the 30s, Great Depression aside, inventions less than a decade old were being improved upon at a fantastic rate, giving rise to 'new and improved or: 'streamlined'!
