    Hi Cara, they so history never repeats but it often rhymes . Interesting walk around in an area I know very little about. I know quite a bit more now. Devizes sounds like it has quite a lot of interesting history. Thanks for showing me around along with the history narration 👍Paul

    Sorry to have missed the premiere! Excellent view to the history around the local prisons. Maybe the circa 1620’s prisons were burned amidst the unrest of those times … hmmm. Thanks Cara!

    🤠👍Fairly progressive updating for women at that time. Interesting hearing the story on the Rebecca Smith. Wow so many children. I would be insane too. Beautiful town. Have a good day coming

    Now this was interesting, i really enjoyed listening to the history surround Devize's prison. Really interesting to see the plaque with the oldest bridewell, amazing. Interesting to hear about the cells and life in the prisons. Enjoyed listening to the tale of Rebecca, very sad and grim though. You're right though, people would be hung for the slightest things, will check out the link! Thank you as always Cara x

    Great opener, I love doors! " The Old Town Lock up! 👌! A great recycle project. Although we were close, we didn't get to visit here. Another great door " The Grange". At @4:15 wow, gorgeous. Love seeing the church door open.We so often encountered them closed. So glad i have visited Devizes, be it through your lens Cara.     Hi Cara, I enjoyed listening to the history of Devizes Prison. It is tragic how people could be punished so severely for seemingly small crimes. It is good to learn from the past and build a society that is more supportive of people who otherwise might not have any means to support themselves. (I also loved the scene with the swan. It's interesting how sometimes if you just wait a moment then the bird will realize you are not a threat and allow you to pass peacefully.) Great work!

      It’s was a sad time but times we have to remember. Yeah at first I was a little unsure on how to pass him to be honest. So I just stood there for a while and when I saw him relaxing, walked slowly by him. And all was good. 😊 thanks for watching

    Wow In such close distance, there were historic prison bridge. I have never heard of it in the US.
    I wonder what made her to such to the edge, she had to make crimes, killing her own blood......
    She had an affair??

    On the other hand, we still hear sad history repeat...I have some YT friends in Israel....
    Some PPL have never learned...??
    Power, wealth, politics are complicated...I have been praying for them.

    Hi Cara oo the woman and the rat poisin was bad and I think prisoners today live in luxury compared to say this prison and prisons of the past. Scary to hear what it was like back then. So interesting and I loved the swans :) ~ Anna

    Fantastic everything Cara ❤❤❤ loved this! Wow , so cool about the prison being where the town hall was. Loved the information. Also, interesting about Bridewell street and the story behind the term Bridewell. Didn't know that. Has made me want to go to devizes now. So , sad about Rebecca Smith 😢we should all learn from history and that's why it's so important not to cancel history even the bad stuff needs to be learnt from.

    Thank you for highlighting the terrible conditions that existed all those years ago- that was such a sad story you related. When we saw the old buildings that were prisons it was obvious that the conditions were really bad. I think we can assume that a lot of people succumbed to rat poison in those times and it was never discovered.

      yeah that Swan did scare me abit and i stood there, trying to figure out if i should back the road way. but he calmed down so i took it slowly.
      It was a sad story, i was little unsure if i should have added, but decided to in the end. Sad things like that happened back then. Thank you so much for watching

    i wonder how they defined "troublemakers" in the 19th century. was it the drunk tank? 🤭 that's very castle-y looking castle. it's fun when while researching one thing it leads you down an entirely different and interesting (albeit morbid. public hangings...not my thing) path. have a great week, cara! 🛴❤
