I remember being a young wrestler and being so fascinated with Mike Poeta. So slick and crafty. That was a solid era for the Illinois program. Poeta, Futrell, Blanton were all tough fun guys to watch
Mike is an awesome coach and leader for many young wrestlers. I am honored to have trained at his gym. Poeta Training center was a highlight for my wrestling career. True Athlete and class act. Jordan Burroughs is definitely the best of the best and has beaten many warriors like Dake and Taylor. This match was only the beginning of a long journey for both athletes.
Even to this day, there’s not many people who are faster than Burroughs. The only person today I can think of that’s faster than Burroughs today is RBY (I’m talking about a prime Burroughs, not the one right now. Sadly he’s getting a little old)
Burroughs is KING! He let Kyle Dake squeak past after beating him 7 or 8 times in a row. If Burroughs had not shattered his ankle and missed 14 weeks of intense practice Kyle Dake would not have been teched 11-0 in Tokyo!
@@quincyspielberger4366 we’ll see, I think he’s still elite, he just won a world title. He wants to rematch Sidakov and Dake one more time before he retires
As much as I hate to be negative, I can’t help but say Jordan could’ve done a lot better. If he was wrestling his best, he would’ve majored him, maybe even tech falled him
christian mejia If JB was more aggressive in the last two years he would’ve been a 6x world champion. Sidakov was the aggressor in both matches and he won.
JT the only reason why Sidakov won those two bouts is because Jordan wasn’t wrestling the whole time. He would wrestle til the last 10 seconds and that’s what hurt him. In both of his encounters with sidakov, Jordan should’ve won, but he didn’t wrestle the whole time in both matches and sidakov got that last point to put him in the lead
He's a Gold Medalist dude c'mon...done better meaning won more than a National title? Improve for future greatness, this is what experience gets ya not a few Xtra points in a match where Nebraska didn't need it!
Dillon Mackay well I mean look at the Nick Suriano and Daton Fix matches. They stall almost the entire match, and they don’t call either one of them for stalling

Dee ya, peoabably one of the best eras for Illinois.

The guy Micheal looks like he hasn’t slept in a few weeks
Ayden Welch Ikr 😂
I was about say that his weight cut must've been brutal!
20 year old Burroughs... wow

Poeta was a beast in my day. Hopefully he can put IL wrestling back where they belong.
@ 1:20 in the 2nd JB should've been warned.
*td w/ 1 sec left was clutch, marvel @ how he bounced his foot from the far side of his body
Beautiful documentary wow
The speed tho!
refs are annoying
🤣🤣 ikr don't know

How do you think a match between Burroughs and Kadi would go
@@hellotcautiver I think Burroughs is past his prime. He's had 3 or 4 significant injuries. Dake went right past which shows he's slowed down a LOT!

Lol sour much. Your boy will NEVER beat Dake again. Reminisce of the good old days from here out
@@Dpend84 LMAO!!!! Wait - doesn't Burroughs already have an Olympic gold medal?!?! Ummmmmm - YES!!!! LOL Dake was awesome... in college!

K L I know, he should’ve acted like that in this match like whenever he wrestled Tyler Caldwell, who I might argue is better than Mike Poeta

Is stalling not a thing back then?😂
Eric Saddler Jordan was just very offensive so there necessarily wasn’t anything the other guy could do except Objective:Survive
Eric Saddler and it’s probably more strict now

133 and 141 please and thank you!
