Great review! Am I the only one that wants a ~$200 decent sounding hdmi eARC (that doesn’t require a remote every time) DAC/Amp for 3.1 audio? I feel like 3.1 audio is the best upgrade from a soundbar for home theater.
@williampeeters7327 he mentioned that you need to manually turn it to hdmi input every time you use it. This means I won’t be able to just have my tv remote out I would also need the DAC/Amp remote too. Not a huge deal for audio people like us but if anyone else comes into my living room to watch something they don’t know what remote to use etc. I want things to be simple! haha
@@vvraithz I just got this and it works perfectly with the TV remote only. Goes to standby when TV is turned off, Turns on and goes to ARC mode when i turn TV on, and volume controls works too.
Looks Arylic listened to your suggest because they now have the BP50 -- which is basically the B50 without a built-in amp. I currently have one connected to a Fosi Audio V3 with the 48V power supply and it sounds awesome with Monoprice Encore B4 speakers and a Monoprice 10" slim sub.
Super new to this. The B50 almost sounded too good to be true but glad to see it’s so well reviewed. I’m just confirming my understanding of what you’ve said, the BP50 has all the features of the B50 except the amp part? So now you can add your own? What happens if you didn’t have an amp attached? My goal was to have a PS5 plugged into a TV and ARC out to this Amp then to speakers. Another sound source would be a vinyl player.. was thinking a BP50 gives options to slowly make the audio better especially for the vinyl?
@@andrer3764 Yes, the BP50 is basically the B50 without the speaker amplification section. You will need an external amp to power passive speakers with the BP50. The only way to use the BP50 without an amp is if you use self-powered speakers. That certainly is a workable option..
Completely agree. If that was just a preamp with all that functions and little better dac inside, it would be winner. So many people, incl. me waiting long time for something like this with eArc hdmi under 200$
Thanks for validating my purchase. Literally just looking to run the HDMI from my TV through my bookshelf speakers with the option of adding a powered sub. Beyond that, streaming music via my Bluetooth on my phone while in my room. I think this thing will meet my expectations.
I bought this before your review came out, I've got this hooked up between my smart tv and a used pair of Klipsch RP600m(gen1). While I wouldn't claim HiFi, it certainly rocks for TV and movies or spotify and youtube music, it fills my very modest sized living room and kitchen!
I grabbed this for $115 about two months ago, paired with Arendal 1961 Bookshelves and a SVS SB-1000 Pro. I needed E-Arc for my LG C1 into this. It was a decent alternative to adding an AVR. I know once I feed the Arendals some decent power from something else they’ll sound better but for now this just works and sounds good for music and home theatre.
Did you stay with the B50? Need some hdmi arc stereo receiver to control the loudness via tv remote (LG). My topping e30 is connected via toslink, hope the dac quality will not suffer. But also I tought about some dolby to stereo downmixer as I don't trust my TV.
You used to mention a list of test tracks when reviewing items. I like that as it gives me some idea as to what to expect from a unit. Chocolate Chip Trip anyone? 😋
This video is perfectly timed. I am looking for a budget home theater for a small room. You made this sound perfect. What I am hoping for is a budget speaker set to go with it( hopefully under $150). I don’t need earth rumbling bass but just good clarity, especially for voices. I could add a budget subwoofer down the road. Thanks! You have done it again
Yes I agree with the positives and the negatives been living with it for about a month. The Arc for me is worth the negatives as well as the Bluetooth casting. I have TCL Roku TV and love to use their app to stream to my headphones at night, BUT if its not a Roku App and using HDMI port it will not stream. So with this I can now listen with headphones and funny enough I had no clue this was part of it when I bought it.
Totally agree if they made this as a pre amp, and fixed the auto wake issues over hdmi this would be an instant purchase for me. (maybe make it a little cheaper since the power amp part is removed, idk)
Looks like your wish came true. Looks like Arylic recently released the BP50, which is all the same connectivity, but in a pre amp only for $99 (plus a 20% discount rn)
@@jmbak3rI just discovered the BP50 on Amazon earlier today, and re-watched this video to remind myself what Randy thought of the B50. As a result, I just ordered a BP50 for myself. I hope the ARC wake fix has been pre-installed.😕
I have to say I love your reviews. Based on that I got the B50 SE, which skips the HDMI ARC (which I gather works persistently now with current firmware) and use it as a sweet desktop DAC, CD amp, and of course bluetooth with my iPhone. The app, just unnecessary. The remote is great. The Amp is exactly as clean and powerful as you expect from all these 50w out there. The cost $89 (60 bucks on Black Friday) just too good to pass up. Tons of inputs, superior sound, very satisfying mix of physical and virtual controls. I get the ARC / soundbar upgrade market will be all the rage in the future but for me, this is almost flawless and hard to beat. Replacing two separates easily with great integration. Highly recommend the SE model. I feel like they must be listening to you...
Agreed. I just got my V3 with 48V PS today. I have to sleep because I work overnights otherwise I’d be playing with it right now. Just need a preamp with eARC to hook it up to. I only want my TV, turntable, and maybe a streamer hooked up to something like this along with my amp. And as long as it’s no more than $200, I’d be very happy. I don’t want to pay $400+ because then I might as well get a refurbished Marantz NR1200.
I boight this a few weeks ago. I haven't used it yet but I'm not expecting much. Its only to replace my TV speakers with something bigger and enhance the stereo separation. My apartment is super small so I don't need much volume. I don't need any other features besides HDMI. But I paid $159 before tax on Amazon!
You enticed me and then lost me. After the review of the Fosi V3, this pales, even with the extensive connectivity options. I think I will probably go with the op-amp rolling capability of the V3 over this and probably reduce this to a boat anchor. 😂 Thank you for your time and efforts to share this with us all.
The ACP workbench tool allows access to the inbuilt DSP in the B50. The sound stage can be improved dramatically through subtle adjustments to the Bass control, EQ, 3D and harmonic excitation functions. ie the same adjustments DAC manufacturers use to differentiate their products.
All things considered for a very specific use case I'm fairly satisfied with it on limited use. So far only have it going to my tv in a small living room paired with a pair of Kanto Yu Passive speakers (5.25). For the $350 investment plus $30 in speaker cables it's a very solid sound bar replacement, especially if the overall system footprint matters. Definitely a little thinner than an a/b amp but if you have a specific use case could do worse. Will probably add a $120 ish sub eventually.
I like everything about this amp…Except for the amp! I mainly use it for exercise videos and watching ball games so I don’t need the highest of quality sound and the ARC feature is very handy. I don’t ever switch the input so I have not had issues With the ARC not working. I agree though, if it had pre-outs, and no amplifier, it would be an awesome product!
Have this in a spare room hooked to a TV and agree with everything you’ve said. It’s good for what it is but would be great if the gave up the power section and put in pre outs. 100 percent accurate review. Hopefully Arylic listens.
Imagine there are $3000+ integrated amplifiers coming out in 2023 with HDMI ARC and this thing does it at this price. If they made it slightly cheaper without an amp it would be a no-brainer, this plus a V3 would be about $200 and be unstoppable. I hope fosi is paying attention, the already have the individual products, they could make an amazing pre-amp with a tube phono stage, ARC, Bluetooth, 2 RCA inputs, tone controls with the same visual motif and quality of the V3 (same height as well) so you could put them next to eachother and be in the game.
Рік тому
They should make a line of separates with the same form factor, to compete against Nakamichi or Yamaha ones. Those would be a hit.
Actually fosi audio starting today another Kickstarter project after the successful V3. This time it's exactly an tube pream, named "P3", with matched aesthetics to the V3 amp. No any other specs available yet for the preamp. Hopefully it includes hdmi and the tubes can be turned on/off like the Aiyima T10 dac. TBH I was hoping for releasing a V3 matching DAC with remote, a good dac chip and tubes that can be turned off from the remote like (like T10 dac)
After looking at new audio equipment for my TV, I started to realize how Arylic makes it cheap: they intelligently integrate last year's technology. They use chips that have been made "obsolete" by later version (poster child is the amplifier) and can probably be ordered for real cheap. I do not mean it in a bad way: often enough last year's tech fullfill the need. Consider eARC vs. ARC. TV and AVR vendor want to have eARC for marketing reasons, but not all customers are setting up Atmos in their room. I, for one, still use stereo mode.. In this context I am the target customer for an Arylic BP50 (the preamp version). The downside is the DAC, but the digital output makes an upgrade possible, if I ever can detect the difference (I am not an audiophile).
Most of the issues you speak of were corrected in a firmware update FYI. ARC standby can by turned off so it's on all the time and there's now 7-8 EQ band adjustments
Is that to say it may be put on some kind of standby so that ARC can reliably turn it on and off ? I would like to substitute as an ease of use sound bar alternative for my parents. None of that will work if the operation gets too cumbersome.
Agree 100%. More is less in this case. They could've had a winner just making it an affordable preamp with hdmi. I'm beginning to think there's a conglomerate of avr and powered speaker manufacturers preventing good alternative small, inexpensive hdmi 2.1 systems from happening.
I've tried that alternate method several times with different converters it never provided the same benefits as built in eArc. The TV remote never controls the amp volume, which for most people is the primary reason for wanting eArc.
I have this coming on Monday along with a pair of Kanto Yu6 passives. Figured id give it a shot as a soundbar replacement in a small apartment living room. Hoping its decent enough to be a desktop solution for an office longer term once i have a bigger living room and buy better gear for that. We shall see
Looked at this closely as it would have been a perfect desktop DAC and amp with HDMI for my PC. If only it had a headphone amp in front, it would have been perfect.
Randy, just got my Fosi V3 today. I love your thoughts on this. I’d love if it were a preamp only. Personally I could do without the DAC, BT, and internal amp. I would however like to see better controls with the eARC like you mentioned. I think for $150 I’d still buy that. I want this for 2.1 TV, turntable, and possibly a streamer. That’s all I need.
Edit: HT, not HD !@@Mike.Macmyazkato your point Mike it’s about time they came up with a inexpensive way to supplement your TV sound with a little 2.1 HD set up.
I bought a V3 just for kicks as well. I'm going to dump the sound bar and use the V3 with my WIIM Pro and a DAC with a remote. Probably a Topping DAC. I'm going to skip the sub as the wife hates the way they look. Building some CSS Torii's for the speakers.
Ugh... I bought one on Prime day. Worst purchase I have made. DAC port is dead. I have tried many USB C to C cables and yes they are data cables and not just power cables. Firmware needs updated, should be easy right? Not really. You have to flash a thumb drive to FAT, not FAT32 or ExFat, etc. I so far have formatted eight thumb drives and redownloaded the firmware to make sure it wasn't corrupted. Attempted to update the firmware over and over and over. NOTHING. Tech Support is the worst I have ever dealt with. Yes the RCA and bluetooth work. But nothing else. I have invested 20 to 25 hours of time with this. I am sending it back. Nothing is worth this much frustration.
@cheapaudioman Might be worth speaking to Arylic or checking the connections. Mine wakes up in the last mode it was left in. I do like the Bluetooth transmission for YT music from Google TV to my headphones while doing my chores; and it's useful for people with BT hearing aids. But with that said, this device primarily serves as a means to upgrade my TV/movie audio. One issue I have is occasional crackling when adjusting volume or turning the device on. Another is the crossover frequency in the app doesn't persist, but I can control this manually on my sub.
Randy, can you tell me why bargain bin receivers/AVRs have HDMI (including this $150 product), yet multi thousand dollar "audiophile" integrated amps don't? Why is this so hard?
Have the B50 paired with a WiiM Pro and it's all the functionality and sound you'll ever need for a secondary space at reasonable volume. Curious if @cheapaudioman compared the DACs on these two, better to use the WiiM's and run analog into the B50 or use the B50's and run optical? Thanks for the review.
Supposedly, the ARC issues are fixed by a firmware update that you need to download onto a usb drive. Is that true? I'm looking for something cheap that can use hdmi CEC to turn on and control volume.
This is what I’m really looking for because this is the first one I’ve seen with two inputs. Is there another one that you know of that’s comparable in price?
Thank You for this review. I am trying to ween my parents off of a sound bar. I would like to find a cheap solution that will enable them ARC / eARC to 2 channel. They have a history of having some very nice audio solutions that they tend to throw out in favor of simpler implementations that don't require multiple remotes. I really want to find a solid ARC controlled solution that will only require them to manage their TV. It will be either roll the dice with some used AVR out there, or some new CHI-FI. I don't want to buy a powered speaker solution since I have passive speakers I can allocate to the cause. Anyone have recommendations ?
¡Gran canal!
@cheapaudioman Is it worth getting this to replace my DO3 running Sony SSCS3s simply to control audio over CEC/eARC from my tv remote? Optical audio between the TV and DO3 doesn’t behave the way I want, but it’s all fine when they’re connected via Bluetooth. Is it a waste to replace the DO3 with this only for eARC audio?
Weird becuase mine sits in standby mode all the time and when my tv turns kn it just takes a moment and wakes up to eARC fine without any noodling on my end
So, I got this unit a while ago for $118 from the manufacturer. The HDMI only worked for a day. There are some vague forum posts about updating the firmware yourself, but I’ve been unsuccessful. So at this point, I wouldn’t recommend.
I'm looking to get my first DAC/AMP what would u recommend pairing with HD6XX (mostly for PC Gaming / Metal Music) Ive be looking at the FiiO K5Pro, FULLA 3e, Fosi Audio Q4 Mini & the JDS Atom stack
Would the Traingle Borea 03 be a good choice of speaker for this amp? Or would the Borea 02 or Polk ES15 be a better choice? Would it be sufficient to drive the ELAC 5.2 also? Where I live I don't have access to Sony or Emotiva etc....
Hi there Randy, how would it compare with the Loxjie A30 or the Topping Mx3s? Following your recomendation i'm looking for a pair of Silk 4 speakers, for a small tv/music system.
I know I am a pain in the A$$ keep asking you to compare to the Aiyima A08 Pro however I bought it SOLELY on your recommendation when it was the Product of the Year” last year and I absolutely LOVE. Pairs well with my Jamo C 603(s). Hits you right in the face!! In a good way! The only way I would replace the Aiyima A08 Pro would be again in your recommendation.
I also told arylic they should work on a new preamp with these new features. An upgraded s50 pro+. In the speaker amp side they are far, far away from the competition.
I have a question for you I was hoping that the b50 would be on always or weak up from earc input , but you said it does not. Do you know if the svs sound base does
If this had preouts, it would be a easy super affordable to add HDMI arc to a 2-channel system. At least until Emotiva releases their XDA-3 dac. I'm ready to by that thing now.
Stealing from my 70, 80 car stereo sting. Can the output be converted to rca using one of those car adapter.? Has someone tried? Probably sounds horrible..... just using my brain today.
It’s too bad.. Sounds like it would’ve been a really great niche product if they just used the “better” amplifier chip and PSU unit, and the ability to operate without issues with HDMI. Of course, we’d expect it to come in at under $200.😂
I wonder, do you know is optical a neutral connection? Meaning, can you add a wiim pro to a sound bar that has a optical connection? Or will it conflict with hdmi to tv etc? Or earc?
Why don’t major amplifier and receiver manufacturers have a Bluetooth out? I have a really nice Onkyo receiver, and it’ll take Bluetooth in, but it will not put it out to headphones or anything else. This is just stupid, it’s a cheap, easy fix.
i have several of there products there dacs and amps below average. digital out is good. diy board with digital out best value best application dlna in digital out

I'm beginning to think there's a conglomerate of avr and powered speaker manufacturers preventing good alternative small, inexpensive hdmi 2.1 systems from happening.
My Yurt yearns for this, Randy! Entertaining video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Or just skip eArc and go for the Loxjie A30, I’d say. Sounds much better. And if you need eArc just get an HDMI to optical converter.
I've tried that alternate method several times with different converters it never provided the same benefits as built in eArc. The TV remote never controls the amp volume, which for most people is the primary reason for wanting eArc.
eArc is all about being able to use the TV or Cable remote.
They made one that's just a preamp. It's the BP50
Because if I spend any more, I might as well pick up a refurbished Marantz NR1200 for $400 and call it a day.
Looks nice just needs a firmware update to set a default input in the app for boot. I could see it being a good soundbar replacement.
Can the Arylic handle it's own against AUNE Flamingo
@cheapaudioman Might be worth speaking to Arylic or checking the connections. Mine wakes up in the last mode it was left in.
I do like the Bluetooth transmission for YT music from Google TV to my headphones while doing my chores; and it's useful for people with BT hearing aids. But with that said, this device primarily serves as a means to upgrade my TV/movie audio.
One issue I have is occasional crackling when adjusting volume or turning the device on. Another is the crossover frequency in the app doesn't persist, but I can control this manually on my sub.
Does the actual unit display the volume in any way? I hate not knowing if i’m gonna wake up the whole neighborhood when i turn my music on
Randy, can you tell me why bargain bin receivers/AVRs have HDMI (including this $150 product), yet multi thousand dollar "audiophile" integrated amps don't? Why is this so hard?
Have the B50 paired with a WiiM Pro and it's all the functionality and sound you'll ever need for a secondary space at reasonable volume. Curious if @cheapaudioman compared the DACs on these two, better to use the WiiM's and run analog into the B50 or use the B50's and run optical? Thanks for the review.
Will it do regular HDMI my tv does not have Arc?
Supposedly, the ARC issues are fixed by a firmware update that you need to download onto a usb drive. Is that true?
I'm looking for something cheap that can use hdmi CEC to turn on and control volume.
Thanks ! Does the app crossover only effect the low pass to the sub? Or does it also filter for high pass on the LR (front) speakers ?
It's about the same price and features as the Ayima D05. How does it compare to that?
So is the wiim pro plus an amp too where I can run my ceiling speakers?
@cheapaudioman Is it worth getting this to replace my DO3 running Sony SSCS3s simply to control audio over CEC/eARC from my tv remote?
Optical audio between the TV and DO3 doesn’t behave the way I want, but it’s all fine when they’re connected via Bluetooth.
Is it a waste to replace the DO3 with this only for eARC audio?
Weird becuase mine sits in standby mode all the time and when my tv turns kn it just takes a moment and wakes up to eARC fine without any noodling on my end
Please help! This amplifier, or Aiyima D03?
I told you. I think the H50 is a rip-off but the B50 is not bad. With a Russound 1.2 you could convert this into a pre-amp.
I guess I do this if I have a pair of speakers so I do not want to buy The Fives ? (I bought The Fives.)
Hi, Hope you are doing well. Could you please suggest if below 3 speakers are good as a combination: Elac Debut 2.0 5.2
Mission LX3 MKII
Polk ES35
My usual question. How does it stack against the Aiyima A08 Pro?
H50 have a software update on tone control do you think is going to help ?
Do you know if the svs sound base does
Now the problem with ARC is solved. It starts and shut down perfectly when i Start my TV.....
Anyone know of a small integrated amp like this that would work as a Roon endpoint for my backyard patio?
If this had preouts, it would be a easy super affordable to add HDMI arc to a 2-channel system. At least until Emotiva releases their XDA-3 dac. I'm ready to by that thing now.
Stealing from my 70, 80 car stereo sting. Can the output be converted to rca using one of those car adapter.? Has someone tried?
Probably sounds horrible..... just using my brain today.
Someone reach out to Randy and let him know
It’s too bad.. Sounds like it would’ve been a really great niche product if they just used the “better” amplifier chip and PSU unit, and the ability to operate without issues with HDMI. Of course, we’d expect it to come in at under $200.😂
You can buy a used AVR locally for as low as $50+ all day! Older AVR'S are being dumped these days for newer shinier models.
I wonder, do you know is optical a neutral connection? Meaning, can you add a wiim pro to a sound bar that has a optical connection? Or will it conflict with hdmi to tv etc? Or earc?
I bought one on pre-sale and it came broken. 😑
not a good sign
Why don’t major amplifier and receiver manufacturers have a Bluetooth out? I have a really nice Onkyo receiver, and it’ll take Bluetooth in, but it will not put it out to headphones or anything else. This is just stupid, it’s a cheap, easy fix.
I want only dumb amps and all my tech in a separate box I can toss as tech improves.
i have several of there products there dacs and amps below average. digital out is good. diy board with digital out best value best application dlna in digital out
I need a headphone jack
Nobody has won anything
That's a bot
Nope! I can't stand any audio that loses connection, very aggravating
You had 665 likes. Now you have 666. 👿
SCAMMER ALERT
Is it better to use an external preamp or the on board amp within the AT LP 120.
Am here my friend
thank you, Randy!
LOL a JACK-MON
