Thank you for stopping by! In this video, I'm creating on 8x8" wood using acrylics and pencils. I also discuss why quality paints are important to your art practice and how to protect your artwork for years to come.
My work is inspired by my love for fields of flowers. You'll see me create it from start to finish. There's no music, however, you'll hear me talk through a lot of my process and discuss products/tools that I'm using.

Hello and welcome! I'm Betty Franks and I create my vision of abstract fields of flowers using acrylic paints and pencils (and other mark-making tools). I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel a couple of times a year to Preko, Croatia (where my parents live). I started painting in 2012 and focused on abstract art in the summer of 2015. i will wait for the bundles. Very happy they recognized you for putting them on the map with your followers and peers. I was planning to buy the small ones starting next month. I have so much now that I have bought over the last 2+ years of just watching. I did 3 itty bitty abstracts this week with mostly watercolors and many other mixes. The one I finished today is good. They all have names. I haven't sprayed them yet because of the weather here just north of Chicago. I also have a spiral with names for paintings. Thanks for inspiring me! You really changed my painting world.

Love this one. I’ve been buying my boards and canvases at the thrift store then painting the white over it before starting.
Wonderful! Great way to save some money and reuse what's available!
What kinds of boards do you find? With paintings on them?
@@a.humphries8678 I usually buy mine new. I check the picture area in the local thrift store, but never find any that I want to use.
@@a.humphries8678 they all had paintings or prints on them. I just repaint them with white paint before using. Some are canvas and some wood board. I see them all of the time at the thrift store. Hobby Lobby had a 90% off clearance section with a bunch too. Most 99 cent to $1.99.

Again I am inspired... I have several small wooden boxes. I usually cover them in fabrics and add little bits of stone to them, selling them as keepsake boxes.. I'll still make them, but now I want to create a collection of painted ones.. I do a lot of doodle art type flowers and add other whimsical shapes etc. And am also metallic acrylic fiend... I just love how that adds richness to my color palette... So excited to see what comes out of this.... [fyi there's an emoji icon right in the comments] 🌹🥀🌺🌻🌼🌷

Not painting along, but gelli plate play (my 1st endeavor, and a homemade plate to boot!!). I find myself being precious with the paint (little tubes of a 60 pack set), I really need to get your set of Nova’s to try them out. Your palette is amazing, just my style!!

Glad you liked it, Elzabe! Unfortunately, I don't know that I can recreate the colors I mixed. I mix as I go and I always have paint left on my brush that goes into the next color. It's so hard to recreate that. In the video, I show which color I used. You can practice mixing colors to get a color you love,

Unfortunately, they ship everything from their warehouse in southern California. I think the shipping will be higher than the cost of the paints. Wish they were everywhere!

Seriously i always appreciate your professionalism and generosity with your time and information in these videos. I still greatly enjoy the four pics I bought from you. They are on a staircase to my loft where i spend a lot of time looking at a view to a distant hill with an old church on top. I have had the pics hung so I can see them in one glance. I have bought quite a few pics in my time. My friends say too many! But i find that if you group paintings by artist there is a continuity and coherence which is good. Best to you for 2022. R

I think I figured out why you were pronouncing Cadmium Yellow as Cad-i-um. I thought it was just a verbal stumble but when my Nova Paints arrived I see that is exactly how they spell the name of their Cadmium-like yellow. They probably want us to understand it is as close as possible to Cadmium without the health risks associated with true mineral colors. I certainly didn't care how you pronounced it, but clarity is good. I used to sell Golden and Liquitex and in 2016-17 Liquitex stopped carrying the heavy mineral paints, and I think golden followed. In my view nothing can really compare to the intense color of Liquitex Cadmium Red but Nova Color has sent me something that is very close, beautiful, and more healthy to use.
Haha... Sharon, I have a habit of mispronouncing words on a regular basis. I've done it most of my life. Please don't ask me to pronounce soluble! I never get it right! Thanks so much for watching my video and sharing the info about the paints!
