How unusual is the building you just entered! It was imbued with children’s laughter when there was an elementary school here. Before that, during the reign of Counts Feštetić, a family of foresters lived here.The Oak Adam is our local legend. Old oak lived to be 500 years old. It was cut down in 1925. Just like its friends within the pedunculate oak species, it has been transformed into staves for barrels, boat planks or railway beams. The walls of the Visitor Center also speak of the mining past. Memorials to Mursko Središće miners are “halde”, piles made of dumped coal and tailings. In the vicinity of Mursko Središće and Križovec is the only place in Croatia where you can see “halde”.
