I`ve been doing windows for 10 + years and I use a paint can opener to get the screens out. Those paint can opener cost less than a knife to screw driver. And cause less damage to the screen and frame when you to take it off. Also because of the angle of the paint can opener it can allow you to be able to grab the back part of the screen. A lot of cleaners that use the knife or screwdriver in my area usually bends the screen frames as the remove the screens. I call the paint can openers my magic tool to remove screens.
I have a customer in an industrial unit and she mentioned she''d like the inside windows cleaned, trouble is there is a load of storage units in front of the windows - I think she expects me to move them to clean the windows (no way hose) - people think w/cleaners are stupid/desperate so they try and take advantage. Worse part of being a w/cleaner? - what people think of you for doing the job.
Keith! I've been watching for a few months now! You given such great advice that this year I've already doubled my profit from last year and I've increased landscaping prices by 400%!!! Thanks for the great videos, keep it up!
I have made that mistake several times just trying to be nice and professional...however in the end I came home exhausted and mad with the world lol. So a disclaimer is a great idea, thanks once again Kieth. Much appreciated.
do u charge extra if you are cleaning window in an occupied house? Some times furniture has to be moved to get to the inside window. Even outside windows are blocked by big pot plands and other stuff.
Sorry if this has already been asked....how do you take into account larger windows like Sliding patio doors and so on?....also, fastest way to clean tracks?
As a landlord, it's nice to see people who work clean and respect the floors and walls besides doing the job right. It's an integral part of any kind of job that you're hired for but some people don't realize it.
One time I was doing sliding doors in a living room and I was putting the screen back in and I bumped it into the blinds and they fell off onto some plants and knocked those over too and the lady was sitting right there on the couch.
in my area we charge 5 per flat window inside and out, 6 for sliders and 10 for colonials, French doors, windows included. we went up and got turned down alot, that price seems to be the sweet spot. 3 houses a day roughly 149.00 per house x 6 days a week= alot of cheddar. we run one man per job and they do 3 per day.
I've seen some that had shutters installed on the inside on third story windows, too high to get to with a ladder, so you either have to harness up and rappel down to the window on a rope from the roof or remove the shutters and pull the windows out from the inside.
Keith, your videos are awesome! I am an experienced window cleaner from London, England learning a LOT from you about the American window cleaning market. Over there the window cleaner mainly just cleans glass, frames and sills so it's great to learn how to price all the extra stuff like screens and tracks, etc. I was wondering what kind of vacuum and attachments you use to vac out the tracks? Could you recommend a track vacuum system for under $100 that isn't a piece of crap? Thanks!

Great videos man. By the way, the window cleaning is obviously a very low start-up cost service business but its all about volume and time on a job. If you are unable to get in every nook and cranny have clients pointed that out to you/not want to pay you?
Just curious if you were or your guys were to leave a window closed but unlocked could the home owner or client charge you or hold you liable ? I worked for a lock smith in highschool and they had to totally re key a house because the new guy forgot to lock a door. ha ha the new guy was me. lol oops
keith do you ask that obstructions be removed from the inside windows? if so what do you do if you get there and the things where not removed ? another concern is the client pulling the old ill be back ill pay you when I return and they don't return and you have another home to be at ?
What I do is move the items but don't put them back. And then I leave a note explaining why and it says basically it's out of fear of damaging anything. And in future could they please be sure to move everything out of the way first. I word it in a way to make out like their items are of great $ value or sentimental value rather than the real reason which is it slows me down and I get pissed off.
Hey Keith, can you provide some tips on how to approach/deal with commercial contracts. I have the primary telephone company here in Canada leave me a phone message asking if I can take on commercial contracts for them. Not sure, do you underbid to ensure a long-term contract, or are they OK paying top dollar for services?
George Sherwood come to Canada man, today i charged a lady for the outside and inside 220 and then 3 bucks per screen to clean i walked out with 295, saturday i have a 450 dollar job just windows and sunday is 220, you can easily make 2000 a week washing windows in canada, this week was 1400 for me :) The problem is in canada its a one time thing i heard in the UK you go and do them every week or something?
Different countries seem to be conditioned to paying certain prices aye. In New Zealand the maximum we can charge. Is $1.50- $2.00 per pane of glass (both sides). When I hear the prices Keith talks about I get jealous.
Nicholas Evans Wow, in Canada the prices are threw the roof, a two story house I charge anywhere from 250-400 for inside and outside, I also do the screens. Window cleaning here isn't like it is in the UK where you have tons and tons of people doing it. I just started my business last year, started off doing little 100-200 dollar jobs. This summer I have some weeks book where I clear 2200. It is a great business if your good with people and fair, they dont buy the window cleaning, they buy you being approachable and trustworthy.
My window cleaning lady charges $1 a window. I always give her a big tip when she's wearing her short shorts while cleaning my windows. Can't wait to get my windows cleaned again., hummm que rico.
Like the way explain that some times I do run into them snages. And your channel is awsome very easy to understand not like other people. Great job.

I'm with you. I used the same tool for years.

damn son... great job.
wow. that's huge.
Pricing strategy sounds good to me. "Don't be afraid to give yourself a raise" You da BOSS DAWG!
haha,
I raised on my window cleaning prices recently and now I'm getting turned down left and right
+The Landscaping Employee Trap That is because every wannabe with a ladder thinks he is a window cleaner.
@@keith-kalfasyou should try now seems like most company’s are charging 10$ just for outside pane
I have made that mistake several times just trying to be nice and professional...however in the end I came home exhausted and mad with the world lol. So a disclaimer is a great idea, thanks once again Kieth. Much appreciated.

Hi I'm in the uk just starting out you say 100 bucks an hour how or where can I find out how much to charge?.
whats the break down of the price ?
4 outside add 2 for inside and 5 for the track .. so 11 per window .. is that a good price
Where do you buy your window screen material and what kind?
I really appreciate these videos man. I can't state it enough. Thank you.
Damn, I am furiously taking notes.
Same lol

Very informative, but I'm having a hard time focusing. Still got your video in my head lol! 😄

I meant screens included****
When you say $5 per window in & out. Do you mean five per pane? So if I have 4 panes of glass is that $20?
Evident Glass Cleaners listen to his math it clarifies your answer
I need some help, can you tell me how to remove my screen?
That is a fairly good price per window in my opinion. Awesome video
As a window cleaner i hate home decor people. Always installing blinds without thinking of how the windows will be maintained.
+ben kors haha. I know right
I've seen some that had shutters installed on the inside on third story windows, too high to get to with a ladder, so you either have to harness up and rappel down to the window on a rope from the roof or remove the shutters and pull the windows out from the inside.
Great videos, very inspiring 👍
Good patients bro,way to be understanding

lol,
they're all pieces of crap.
The Landscaping Employee Trap so what do you use?
Richard Whitlock pick up a small portable wet/dry vacuum, the pump sprayer for some "simple green", and a soft bristle brush.
oh dear lord, today I finally understood what hell on tracks was..... what is the BEST way for getting shit out of the tracks?!! Thanks dude!

Just curious if you were or your guys were to leave a window closed but unlocked could the home owner or client charge you or hold you liable ? Shop Vac's work right?
Sweet dreams are made of these......
8:50 the blinds that go sideways do u charge more for old or crappy ones that are hard to open?

How did you make out with this ? Currently getting into the window cleaning business myself. How did this phone company hear of you ?
Is that why you say start at strip malls because residential windows are more complicated?
+James Cabbagestalk yes exactly
Residential jobs may be more complicated but they on average pay way better then businesses. 10 years experience.

Good job, what camera do you use for your video's.
