Well, whoever developed it wasnt really thinking about it. Or, it was developed so long before modern definitions, because its not a file system. Its a file sharing protocol. I have no idea why its called a fike system protocol. In fact, tgat just sounds stupid. Maybe the 9resenter fifured it out and will tell gis audience why tge siftware engineers chose the wrong name 40 years ago.

Because you can mount it
