Spiderweb Coils: How to correctly wind them

- Coil-winding is a task many hobbyists shy away from.
But it´s easier than you think as already demonstrated in the video about "Making Your own Frame-Antenna".

And it´s very satisfying to receive radio stations with a reception-coil that you wound on your own.
I love the way you pronounce English, don't let anyone brow beat you.
Dankeschön. Diese ist eine große Technik. Gut unterrichtet und einfach. Thank you for your great channel Brüder.
Thank you for this upload. Keep up the good work. I love your videos.
Can you please tell me what special feature does the Lutz wire impart to the spider coil Sir ??
Watch my video-series about AM magnet-field antennas and the video-series about a spreadsheet for calculating AM magnet-field antennas. There everything is explained about why litz-wire is used for AM-coils.
@@KainkaLabs Thanks and I will do just that Sir.
Brilliant Hints. Many Thanks
Where can I see the spreadsheet to work out the number of turns for MW spiderweb depending on the different litz wire versions?
I sympathize with your pronunciation difficulties: "wound" as a noun meaning "an injury" is pronounced differently to "wound" as the past tense of the verb "to wind". English is a crazy language, but that's its charm!
Another viewer has pointed that already out and now I know the right pronounciation.
what type of banana conectors are those? I am not able to find the ones that you have that seem almost made for screwing on to the frame.
Yes, they belong to the frame kit.
I'm surprised that the dielectric constant of cardboard is an issue. I looked it up and it doesn't seem that different from wood. Although polystyrene's min and max values seem more consistent than either.
It´s not the dielectric _constant_, it are the dielectric _losses_ (which are not related to the dielectric constant).
It´s mostly the water content of cardboard that makes it a bad dielectric material.
@@KainkaLabs Thanks for the reply.
fish paper does not have the water content problem digi-key 560gc-nd
Could I have a link to the kits please? Thank you.

@@KainkaLabs thank you kindly.
Thank you so much for an informative video and the whole channel!
Can you please tell me what is the main benefit of using the Litz wire over the regular enamelled copper one?
Explained in these 2 videos:

less capacity and higher Q .

Can you provide some links for the parts necessary to build the antennas? I found out on the internet that some LW coils on ferrite rod antennas have the inductance up to 5 mH, and some MW coils have up to 490 µH. The above stated In the description of „Ferrite Rod Aerial for LW & MW, with link windings on each coil” listing on eBay. Also in the second eBay listing, „Ferrite Rod Aerial Loopstick Antenna with MW and LW Coils 120mm long 3/8" 9.5mm”, in the last (5th) image is stated „Join black and blue to form the ladybird radio «tapping» point.” Does this statement positively influences one of the characteristics of the antenna?
You find most of the answers to your questions in the videos in my playlist "Magnetic Antennas...":

1.) The necessary inductance of the reception coil depends on the capacitance of the tuning capacitor.
You can do your own calculations in the video series "A Spreadsheet for Magnetic Antennas" included in the above mentioned playlist
2.) You find the necessary parts in our shop (spiderweb-kits, litz-wire, ferrite-rod antennas etc.)
3.) A tapped winding (or a coil with a so-called "coupling winding") is used for receivers with feedback (regenerative receiver)
or if you want to transform the high impedance of the tuned tank-circuit to a low input-impedance e.g. of the headphone in a crystal radio set
What is diameter (AWG) of Litz wire and how many strands it have?
Where can be bought in Europe?
For the MW-Coil it´s 20x0,07mm
It can be bought in our shop in this category:

That is how all antenna coils were made in Germany. 1945 and onward.
