The way you hit the floor after Carlos slapped Lisa! 😂🤣 Her man was kicking her butt and Madea taught her how to play gritball and use a cast iron skillet! 😂 Ooh and her mother was a piece of work! She was a straight up narcissist who didn’t care about her daughters, just herself, control and money. And the way she talked about her own grandkids! 🤦🏾♀️ The woman who played Lisa in this movie was the love interest to Shamar Moore aka Hondo in the TV show SWAT. I liked Vanessa because she’s been through a lot and was guarded but when the right man came along she let her wall down. The soundtrack for this movie is so good!
What’s funny is she was originally is love interest when he played Derek Morgan in criminal minds they left off with them having a baby and shortly after the whole thing with him and Thomas Gibson the person that plays Aaron Hotchner where they were constantly getting into it on set and shortly thereafter they gave him swat.
I'm kinda happy SL took something from that moment where Boris was talking to his woman and trying to reassure her that nothing was going to happen to her or her kids when they're with him. It takes alooooot of emotional maturity to understand that her outrage wasn't because of him but because of what she had been through and what she never wants her kids to experience. Good job SL! You're getting better at analyzing raw moments and I love to see it!
Yeah the fact that her mother did that always shocked me especially since it’s trauma inducing for most yeah some ppl just accept what happens hopefully it changes and this movie is just so good with the messages sent
56:42 so satisfying. Cuz she said she never HAD to fight for herself and she finally did. After being mentally and emotionally manipulated her whole life she finally made a choice and she chose herself.
Sadly with abusive relationships, it always looks easier to leave on the outside rather than being in that situation. It took me a year to leave a toxic relationship, but that was mainly due to him threatening to hurt himself or me.
Nephew you definitely have a lot of life to live. I grew up in an abusive house and been a therapist for over 20yrs. There's so many reasons why someone wouldn't "just leave" that type of situation. If you ever have questions about how/why people operate the way they do, feel free to ask. OAN, them playing Al Green after she threw the grits on him was an inside joke because Al Green's girlfriend threw hor grits on him back in the day causing 2nd degree burns. Shortly after a couple of other crazy incidents, he turned to the Lord and became a preacher. 😂 Another great reaction as always.
The sisters situations happens a lot on the black community especially in the older generations where a young woman was touched and no one addresses it the sweep it under the rug and kept secret for years and it’s really sad and causes alot of trauma
Tyler Perry movies are weird if you really think about it. One moment you get a serious plot about domestic turmoil like something out of a Lifetime movie (with a sprinkle of a Hallmark movie plot), and the next moment, you get a psychotic gun packing Mrs. Doubtfire.
I think it shows how black people especially from a certain generation deal with pain. We joke a lot. My family in a lot of ways is like this. Idk if it's healthy but it is what it is. And we're not the only ones
It also comes from the basis that these movies were originally stage plays. The theater productions will typically throw really intense drama against music and lace it with comedy to keep audiences engaged and to throw in something for everyone. That’s where the big gospel element comes from also.
56:18 So for those that don’t know, the song playing is “Love & Happiness” by Al Green. Al Green is notorious for his girlfriend throwing a pot of hot grits on him after he refused to marry her. Thus, Al Green has become synonymous with hot grits. And that’s how we get the gritball scene.
What was your emotional intelligence looking like in your early 20s? At least he has the sense to acknowledge how much he has to learn. Give people some grace. 😒
Yeah Lisa’s character was underdeveloped. They used her more as a plot device. I do wish they gave some of her perspective instead of relying on viewers to understand abuse victims.
I do not know if anyone else pointed this out but the actors were not allowed to see the wedding venue decorations ahead of time so that when they walked in they could get their real reactions on camera.
So happy you’re doing this one. I think you’d really enjoy Daddy’s Little Girls & Madeas big happy family . Those are 2 more of my favorites if you get chance to check them out.

"You are a breath-taking reflection of God's heart for me. For how he pursued and loved me, even when I didn't love myself. You held my hands in the darkness and pulled me out into the light" 🥺😭
Oooo yes I needed something to watch while I was braiding my hair, this is one of my favorite Medea movies. I recently watched it on peacock and man, it was so entertaining.
The show Joe was watching is Good Times about the Evans family trying to make it in the time period and environment they were in. Janet's character was Penny an abused child who eventually escaped her abusive mother to live with Willona (a friend of the Evans family). It's a good show to watch through I used to watch it all the time with my Granny. Funny, raw, and real they tackled a lot and it was great 10/10 would recommend
Dude, my favorite part about this review is the realization in his voice and in his eyes when he recognized that he had growing to do because everyone woman (And man) has trauma they deal with inside.
Imma always love the grit ball😂 it was soo satisfying “I shot tupac” is such an insane line and over a parking spot. Btw I’d say some baby oil and a belt will do wonders for Kiki
She didn’t leave because she didn’t, truly, believe she had anywhere to go. Her Mom would NOT have helped her. Her sister is a single Mom with two kids ie. doesn’t really have a whole lot of room for her sister to move in. All their friends were more “their” friends rather than hers. Plus, he and her mother kind of just had her believing she wasn’t worth anything. She herself also admits that she doesn’t think she’s strong enough to stand up to him. Even after everything with her Mom and sister happened - this is what she “knows.” She’s scared because she’s never had to do things on her own - leaving Carlos for good means she loses EVERYTHING she’s familiar with. In her mind, at least if she stays, she knows what to “do.” She knows how to navigate Carlos’ anger basically. Her choosing to leave in the end was her accepting that she was going to have to build up from the bottom without all the comforts she’d grown up with.
Fun fact: the hot grits situation actually happened to R&B singer, Al Green. Some woman he was messing thought he was cheating on her and she threw hot grits on him while he was in the tub
she traded her so the devil could give her Prada, and I honestly don't think she loved any of her daughter because she groomed one to get RP and encouraged the other to stay in a abusive relationship, that wasn't love that was greed and selfishness. and now that I think about what she did to her eldest is the somewhat the something her mother did to her FOR MONEY their grandmother give her daughter up for $10 and a fix and the mother gave her daughter to man just live a life luxury. and she gave her other to man who beats her just so can have access to her daughter trust funds, this is way i always say "blood don't make you family"
Bro, every time I watch this movie all I can think of is how much I appreciate and miss my grandma and grandpa. I just wish I paid more attention to the lessons they shared with me when I was a kid.😢
Him saying “why cant she just leave” breaks my heart. My sister was in a relationship with an abusive man for 2 years, and she never told my mother bc, like lisa, he had threatened to kill her, so one night i was at dinner with them and i saw him like tugging on her hair from the bottom so no one saw, then he gripped her thigh harder, and i kinda just cracked, i pounced as soon as i came back from the buffet and started punching him, my parents started screaming and me and calling me crazy (my mom was the only one screaming sorry, shes a people pleaser she cares about others more than her own kids, my dad was just quiet) he actually hit my head on the table and the 911 was called, ( my head was bleeding so i had to go to the emergency room )from what i heard from my parents, my sister broke down in the lobby telling them what happened. But truth be told id do anything for my sister, bc she did anything for me, even if it means fighting a prick 2 times my head and mass. Leaving toxic relationships isnt as easy as it seems, and you saying that brings trauma for a lot of people-
I never understood why people in abusive relationships leave at night. It just makes sense to leave in broad daylight when he goes to work. You'll be gone with all your stuff before he even comes home.
because they tend to just not care about the stuff, they just want to be gone and disappear into the night. at night most folks are asleep, so anyone who could have "watching her" during the day wouldn't catch her and alert him etc
I’m glad you’re reacting to this so that you’ll hopefully learn more about these situations and the psychology behind the people experiencing this. It’s unfortunate that I’m younger than you and I understand where she’s coming from but it’s also just a sign that you’ve been a little more blessed than me in that area. I hope you come to understand that it’s hard to “just leave”.
She was upset at him taking out the kids for ice cream because she is a mother waking up to find her kids NOT THERE. Of course she's going to be upset, what parent wouldn't be upset to find their kids not there when they wake up? It was Frankie's fault for not leaving a note or letting her know.
It's easy to say "just leave" when you're not in that situation. Leaving a toxic relationship is extremely difficult. It's even harder when it's abusive.
SL, thank you for making these videos. I really enjoy rewatching them with you and seeing your reactions and insightful commentary. Keep up the good work. ❤
My favorite part was when Lisa finally chose herself an no longer allowed her mother Victoria to live vicariously through her. Lynn Whitfield is one phenomenal actress but was the Mother from hell in this movie. As far as Vanessa goes I can relate to her being guarded because I too am a Sexual abuse/ molestation survivor . It really does affect you when you become a adult. Therapy really changed my life & now I’m a Certified Mental health advocate & Trauma recovery practitioner. Plan on going back to school for Psychology/ Behavioral health. In the Black community we’re so used to sweeping everything under the rug til it’s not even funny. If we ever wanna HEAL we must first confront & talk about the issue. We can’t HEAL what we don’t REVEAL‼️
In my opinion, I think the mom can go down for being one of the worst movie moms. I’m not ignoring that her life wasn’t tragic and hard, but ma’am you had children to take care of and you just manipulated and verbally abused them for your benefit cause you thought you needed to get taken care of. Just because that’s your children, that doesn’t mean that they’re obligated to take care of you. I’m certain situations, yes, but in others, no. One of the saddest things in the world is to live vicariously through your children.
You really aint seen all these movies you reacting to?😭😭😭😭 like its literally my whole child hood you be reacting to. Bless your heart you been missing out
New subscriber, I love that you're willing to be open to new experiences and means of thoughts and ideas to challenge you and make you question the status quo. Good for you, it's admirable and shows a lot of character. Character matters. And kindness, remember that good sir because kindness is everything, and costs us nothing. I look forward to more critical thought analysis. LOVED the Madea's Family Reunion reaction, you were spot on!!
Hey Black King, i love your open mindedness & respectfulness towards to the characters. The purple shirts where their family reunion shirts i have a ton from my families. Lisa has been abused by her ppls all her life starting with her mom, its not always easy to leave your abuser & the moment you try is when your more likely to be killed by them. Tyler Perry loves abusing black women in his movies it is def most women’s experience but this my faaaav TP movie the rawness & vulnerability rewatching it at a big age, keep the videos commminggg

SL, thank you for making these videos. I really enjoy rewatching them with you and seeing your reactions and insightful commentary. Keep up the good work. ❤
That’s love I appreciate you, glad you enjoy .. more to come🤞🏽
My favorite part was when Lisa finally chose herself an no longer allowed her mother Victoria to live vicariously through her.
I love how excited you got when you recognized Cicely Tyson 😂The other woman they were speaking to was Maya Angelou 🤍

LOVED the Madea's Family Reunion reaction, you were spot on!!
the npc 2k face is crazyyyy😂😂🤣
When madea was in the schoolbus that quote she said was from oprah in one of the movie she acted in.
He has to watch beauty shop
That's a good movie
And maybe underworld series idk if he saw them or not
Madea is Mother Dear said in a, I'm guessing, southern dialect.
Yeah, it's a Deep South thing.
Boyyyyy you funny as hell 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I appreciate you!🤣
7:49 I'm trying not to laugh, but the way you fell after that slap had me rollin 😂
when Madea beat that lil boy that line she said was from the movie The Color Purple
THE FACT THAT HE SAW MAYA ANGELOU AND SAID THATS THE MOM FROM "DIARY OF...."
Finally glad to see u upload 🥳🥳
I’m back for good, stay on the lookout!
