I just signed up. I signed up because I’ve been around as long as Creative Hive yet my growth hasn’t been what I think it could be. I haven’t even figured out Social Media. I’m shocked I’ve even lasted this long. There’s been plenty of those behind the scenes hardships. What am I doing wrong?
It's not always something we're doing wrong. It can be that you're not reaching the right audience for your products/shop, your niche/ideal customers, and it's not your fault. We're just humans. We don't know know everything. But I know you got this!! ❤️❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this... We definitely need to normalise business struggles! In my business I've noticed that when I'm struggling, my brain translates it as failing and I freeze, burn out, and completely stop working. It's an awful cycle that I'm trying to take baby steps to stop. ❤️

Everytime I watch one of your videos you hit topics that help more than you know. As a handmade business owner I have hit so many ups and downs and almost quit, but then thought it out and got back on my horse and felt more determined to succeed. I admit I am not there yet and even feel like a loser at times, but something inside me refuses to fail. I believe that if you persevere and work hard you will get what you want. I think I’m starting to rebuild but have been struggling with doubt and depression so much from it 😔

I know I need to branch into other platforms but it's so difficult when your motivation kind of flies out the window, as well as not really having any support from family & friends. By this I mean, support that cheers you on. It's difficult being your own cheerleader at times & today is definitely one of those days. I have a mix of digital and product based business. Some of the online marketplaces I sell digital goods on made major changes this year that negatively impacted my shops there, to the point where I can no longer rely on them for income. Two of those shops were my top income producers. So it really feels like I've lost a job even as a business owner. If I can't find a way to adapt or improve the situation, I'll likely have to shut my business down and go back to having art and design as hobbies. I've even tried looking for employment to no avail. It's just really hard right now and my outlook is bleak. For the moment, since i can't control the marketplaces and their policies, I'm just trying to improve my craft and work on a passion project I've been wanting to do for a while. I don't know what else I can do beyond that.
Building your shop on online marketplaces like Etsy, Amazon, etc. really gives you no security. I highly suggest you build your shop in your own platform/website. Having your own website gives you more security and stability. You have more control over your shop, sales and traffic. I really think it's not yet time for you to give up. I'm glad I watched this. I'm often wondering how other people have managed get as successful as they have when their market is just as saturated as mine. But they may be better at marketing than me. My tree is different than theirs. The tree analogy really helped me understand things.

Specifically, can an elderly or disabled person who can only put in, say 3 -4 hours a day still hope to make a few hundred dollars a month on Etsy, for instance? Or is the basic groundwork, learning & maintenance input needed the same for all levels of expected income?

South Africa does have its draw backs but I still love living here and do not want to give it up. I had a very successful beauty salon for many years but Covid and my health did not help.
