@Adil Afzal he is putting in risk everyone by not wearing a mask when traveling its mandatory its a LAW! (Taking about noel not josh, josh is a great content creator)
as a citizen of Georgia and also as a commercial pilot thank you for not only flying in our country and telling the world about us, but also and mainly, thank you for showing the world about occupation Russia does! great video !!!
WOW the most breathtaking views and a once in a lifetime opportunity brought to life by the cinematography and excellent editing skills. Thankyou Josh, l was so excited after the teaser on Insta and it was worth the wait. 🙏
One of several things that make your channel stand out is unusual flights on unusual aircraft. Kudos. The AN-2 looks ready to take flight, not in stored or preserved condition. Those aircraft are ancient and indestructible; I believe the powerplant was also used on the venerable IL-12 and IL-14, the workhorses of the Stalin era Soviet Union. It's true that the LET 410 is a tough little aircraft; interesting that the pilot touted the engines' reliability. I'm pretty sure those are GE turboprops; the older versions had Walter turboprops with three-bladed propellers. Awesome views, great cinematography, interesting commentary. FYI, I'm a fan of the TU-154B-2 and M, both of which I flew on numerous times while living in the former Soviet Union (Russia specifically). My first flight on one was aboard a TU-154M of Ceskoslovenske Aerolinie in 1991, SVO-PRH.
I saw an AN-2 once, at a small airport's airshow near me. There was a guy on a bicycle going down the runway, and the plane was above him. The plane was going so slowly that the cyclist was beating it; it almost looked like the AN-2 was at a dead stop in midair.
[comment posted May 28, 2021] This flight reminded me of my childhood when my family was living in Nigeria, West Africa and we flew in very small planes 6 to 12 passengers over the jungle. On the side of the plane was the symbol of a green elephant [Nigeria Airways] and the planes were nicknamed the flying elephant. Flying over the jungle was quite hazardous with frequent air pockets when the plane would plummet several hundred feet down without any warning. Afterwards the two pilots at the front of the plane would simply laugh .. turn around and say "Everyone OK??" Good thing the planes provided vomit bags because I remember a few times needing one .. hahaha
It is still possible to fly on An-2 scheduled flight in Russia. The simplest, flight Orenburg - Orsk. Tickets can be bought online. There are also flights in the northern regions and far east, but it is difficult and expensive to get there.
@@AutoGamerZ_ No, as I remember he was flying very unique route to Uzbekistan exclace surrounded by Kyrgyzstan. This countries are not Russian 😂 It's more than 1500km from Russian city Orsk.
@@Magyar9Andras ok, that's a level of insight I simply don't have, luckily I've never encountered that waring anywhere in real life^^ I wonder though... is the LET's terrain warning that differnt from the Airbus' ?
Really cool ! You asked about favorite planes. Classic would be the Concord. Military ..the F 1-11 ( I loved watching it's "dump and burn") . Domestic...the Boeing 737-800 ( Virgin Australia) International .... Boeing 747 Jumbo. But I will own up. Although I have flown the 737 a few times, I have only flown the 747 once, from Noumea to Sydney way back in 1977 And the Concord, I only saw close up in her flight to Melbourne back in the 70's, when she did a low flyover of Melbourne and suburbs as she came into land.( She was allowed to fly really low)
Josh Cahill, boldly taking his viewers places no Chui would ever dare............... P.S. My favourite Soviet era plane is one that safely touches back down.
Wanted to fly the 154 to a vacation in Bulgaria many years ago but my friend bailed on me, so now I guess I'll be forever without a trijet 😭 Great video as always, makes me wanna go to Georgia too some day. Also I want a sweater like that of your seat neighbor on the return flight ❤️
What an incredible and unique experience - the views were beyond spectacular. I’m glad when I spoke to you, the journey had just been completed with you in one piece... I’d love to visit Georgia and seeing this only makes me more hungry to achieve this. 😲👏✈️
Now I know the origin of the term "crocodile tears." BTW, the Idaho back-country wilderness flights that deliver mail to those off-the-grid inhabitants might be worth your time, Josh. Be well.
Wow! Reminds me of those Himalayan flights. BTW Glad to hear you're a fan of the TU154! Been on Malev Munich - Budapest. Too many events to list here! lol
Josh, what about going together with a bush pilot in Papua ? The runways are built by the people in the mountains and bushes and are just long enough for a Porter Pilatus - sometimes even, sometimes uphill/downhill. Theses pilots are real every day heroes.
You've gotta love the wealthy Iyushin il-96, I'm sure Putin would agree with me, having owned 3. An unusual airplane, reminds me of the Twin Otter of Dornier 228, some stunning views btw
Favorite Soviet airliner, hands down the Tu-134! A very sleek and svelt airplane for sure! Flew on one from Moscow to St. Petersburg in the late 80’s. So fortunate to be able to experience that! Had a small circular window on the ceiling of the aft lavatory as I remember!
Totally spectacular. Not just the video content, but also the quality. I'm amazed by the clarity and resolution. Your flight was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, which I thank you for sharing!
I somehow missed this video when it was released. I flew Vanilla Sky from Batumi to Tbilisi on their Embraer 120 Brasilia this February. It wasn't dangerous, but yet an awesome experience and that was my best flight in 2020. Fun fact. Soo cool airplane i would go to Georgia i rember then i fly Balkan air in Bulgaria to Moldavia early 90 they screw away the seat for got the cargo and the cargo was a goat 🐐 and pigs. My most scary flights i got in my life was from San Salvador Airport to Guatemala City Airport and from Guatemala city Airport back to Europe. Because Guatemala city Airport was ranked one of world dangerous airports
"...some kind of an Antonov" :D An avgeek who doesn't recognize the the Antonov AN-2, which is quite known among avgeeks btw. ;) "bekannter als ein bunter Hund" we'd say in german ^^
You should do a trip report on the Glasgow to Barra route in Scotland where the plane lands on the beach and you fly just over the tops of the mountains.
:) That was an AN-2. As for my favorite plane, it is the AN-24. I flew a LOT on her back in the day and I love everything about her, her sound , her form...:) yeah to me she is THE ARIPLANE!! I flew others as well IL-18, ROMBAC 1-11 but nothing beats her.
i flew tarom tu154 once bucuresti to tel aviv but it was not my cup of tea the 154. sticky and over crowded.but i love the ilyushin 62m wich i coud joy from berlin to havana. cubana serves the route madrid to havana today with a il96. that might be exiting either.
A very beautiful flight!👍 I would love to do it one time. And the old other old plane ( AN 2 and AN 3) you can still fly on some regular flights in Siberia. I know that Polyarnie Avialinii uses them for very small flights in rural Yakutia (for example from Khonuu Airport). That should be quite an experience. Even the flight from Yakutsk to Khonuu is very beautiful (using AN24). Lets just hope that the world gets less crazy again.:-(
2:50 So the safety record of this particular model aircraft is *not* due to any inherent design flaws. That's a rustic airport, btw...and some fantastic scenery. I don't really have a bucket list...but if I were ever tempted to start on so I could put an item on it...
Let the battle begin comrades, I am predicting some crazy, of beaten and dangerous flights coming up in the near future, Sam, Josh, Paul, Jebb and Noel are going to start competing now for who can catch the craziest flight. No more monotonous flights from now on
Absolutely Unique!! Incredible scenery. The air looked crystal clear. A real gem of a vid.! Would've liked to have see more of the plane itself but maybe that wasn't possible. Definitely setting the marker higher for your fellow traveller bloggers. Thank you for your amazing travels!!
Josh, you should try Gilgit in North Pakistan or Cuzco in Peru .... both are as beautiful abs dangerous as this one, especially the Gilgit approach which is almost vertical into landing !
How did you get into Georgia? I'm a Brit stuck here waiting for the borders to reopen for family to come visit. Only 5 nationalities are allowed I'm currently- German, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian and French. Would love to hear :) Mestia is beautiful :)
