      @@ArxangelRCnice video! I have a question: can you program such an aircraft so that it flies a certain trajectory autonomously after take-off and returns autonomously to the starting point at a certain battery level? So you can concentrate on filming.

    foam does not break when it hits and compress, it breaks when it decompress; its traction forces what breaks foam; as much elastic, much damage for decompression; carbon fiber strips are good to protect the foam, but, if you cover the foam with packing tape, you will also protect it from traction forces, preventing decompression, and will save some grams of weight :)

    Maybe laminate the bottom stab fins? Great review and such good news a company is actually doing some testing. It'll be cool to see what mods pilots come up with on Thingiverse this summer.I'd expect to see a smoothed out nose cap, similar to ones printed for the Drak line. Bad aerodynamics aside, I think you showed the other primary disadvantage to a belly landing plane with a shovel shaped nose. It's doing exactly what you'd expect. Now that we know this (thanks to your flights) maybe they'll make an design change? Don't apologize for long videos! I love this format! Well done. Looking forward to your Flight Controller video. I know you've done a lot of these but it's cool to see new ideas on wiring all of this together. We all sortof change how we do it with each model, at least I do. Cheers from North Carolina!

      Thanks mate, appreciate it! Yes... they could rework the nose section for the next iteration... would talk to them about that... but seeing how they go about these... with so much research, etc., they do claim a real airplane engineer had something to do with the design of the plane... and perhaps that could explain why the air intake is there... he doesn't really design full size airplanes to belly land... so he could put the intake anywhere! :)

I have tried tuning without luck. where you able to tune out the jitter? and how ? or is it not realistic to expect a smooth flying plane with current flight controller technology ? i am using Matek F722-Wing with Inav latest version, and i have done the recommended tuning by the developer.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 роки тому +1

      Well that is a result of moving so close to the clouds and getting in and out of thermals, and small vortexes around the edge of the clouds... have not tried to tune any further! Not sure you can really tune that out to be perfectly smooth... servos are not that quick to react!

Also... even the surface that it has... which is mostly the props, is a dynamic surface which lets air through! I made a DTFB clone of the Rebel GT (search FliteTest forums for Galleon DT(FB)) and used the same Turnigy SK3 motor you ended up with. I think I'm going to copy your power setup as I am currently flying 3S with an 8x4.5 prop. You're using 4S and an 8x8 speed prop? Doesn't that make the SK3 want to melt with its stated 175W power limit?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  5 років тому +1

      I learned a long time ago not to believe these specs! The motor comes down cold... besides... it is lower Kv than the stock... should be able to spin the prop without much issue! On some planes I am running motors way outside recommended specs, and no problems at all... because that happens only during take off for a few secs, and during fast climbs... but in any case I have not had any issues! On my 3" racing copter I am running the motors on 4S without any problem for many races now... and officially they are rated only up to 3S... and yet they have been solid as a rock so far!

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 роки тому +1

      Too nose heavy other wise! Moving it a bit to the back makes the plane more neutral and a bit more floaty, allowing you to slow it down a bit more for landings, and also not to come in at such steep angles because of the heavy nose!

    • @traxxi2003

    • @ArxangelRC

      Not quite! The correct CG point is only 1, regardless of what you have in the plane! You just aim to balance at that point! Autopilot, battery and camera are just things you can move around to achieve that!

      @@johngutierrez4688 With silicon spray? Hmmmm... no idea if that would actually do anything! What spray is that? I've not seen such a thing around where I live!

    Screw aerodynamics, and physics! this model is fine, just a long as you know it's limitations... ok, well, everyone can have their opinion, and there are lots of different reasons for liking a certain model. let's not forget that facts are fact, however when it comes to the fundmentals. not for me, but if someone likes this, they should go have fun with it regardless!

      It is fun regardless of the fundamentals... we are not talking about super serious civil aviation here... but a hobby grade model for fun! :P Looks do matter, regardless of the fundamentals... especially at this scale, and it is sort of like the Cyber Truck of hobby grade airplanes! :P

      It was very windy even for the maiden! It was a mixture of rain, wind, another project... it was a darn busy time!

    Has anyone laminated or polyd this plane yet? Is it worth doing?

      The foam is pretty slick... at least I wouldn't bother with this on this model... too much hassle for little gain I think!

    hahaa that's so cool! "Hey i saw a mountain out there. lets just go and visit", so sponteneous instead of planning for it. haha
    So are those 2 planes from the same company? look so identical

      Yes, they are, the Dart XL is from a few months back, and the Talon GT is the newest model!

    Did you test the range of the frsky r9 system? I have the L9r on my talon gt on one of the wings but it’s too bulky and the plane rolls hard when in manual mode because of the drag, so was thinking of getting the r9mm as it’s really light and small

      It will do 20kms for sure! Will do that test soon enough!
