However, after they show one of the parents the story about Rudolph, the red nose reindeer to convince him that just because their baby is different does not mean she will be failure

    • @StripesChaosGremlin
      @StripesChaosGremlin 4 місяці тому +23

@@joedepalo3230My understanding is this is an analogy for babies in our society who are born intersex (as in being both sets of organs), their gender ultimately left to the parents to decide, as unfortunately as I understand it, there can be many complications for intersex children. It is also addrsssing the damage it does keeping that information hidden from them even as they become adults and the shock of finding out that your entire life could have been entirely different (for better or for worse).
Their species has some poor opinions about being female to the point where they treat it as correcting a mistake surgically changing their females into male so that they can fit in their society. But their child is born within the federation so it muddies this idea as these two in particular have been exposed to many other societies that don't have such cultural and societal views. Possibly meaning that the future of their child should be left for the child to decide once they have developed the capacity to choose for themself. Unlike them who weren't given that option.

    Paragraph person!!!
Bortus (the one yelling about Christmas) is with Klyden. They are mates. Their race consists of like 99% males. If any are born female they are changed into Males. Klyden was born a female but was changed into a male. Bortus is upset because their new born has been born a female, originally he was going to have her changed into a male. But after the crew convinced him that being a female and different is not a bad thing. He wanted the baby to choose for itself when she is older. Obviously Klyden doesn't want that and sees it as, this is the way it must be and to have the baby changed into a male.
Spoilers: They go to their home planet, Bortus meets a female that was in hiding and she happens to be a very intelligent philosopher in hiding, that everyone from the planet all quote and reference (she used a male name when publishing) They go into court battle where Bortus fights for the baby to stay a female and Klyden fights to have her changed into Male. Bortus loses and the baby is changed into a Male. It kind of puts a damper on the relationship but they press on with lives. Their culture is crazy, if they want a divorce they will kill the other. They also pee once a year or something like that. And they lay eggs when they reproduce and they keep it warm by sitting on it.

Klyden doesnt realise that the only reason to why it hurt him so much is because he was raised into this culture
He wouldn’t have been so upset if he found out when he was younger, if anything, he would’ve been angry at his culture and would’ve went into hiding like the rest of the females on his planet
He was so well raised into HIS culture to the point that he REFUSED to leave it even when it hurt him, even when it hurt his own child.
He only left it at the very end when it almost costed his child’s life
I think that’s because he never knew that u could be killed for being a female and when he realised this, he left.
As much anger that i hold against his character i cannot deny the fact that he did very much do his best as a parent
He played with topa he ate with topa he taught topa and topa even trusted him with personal information which shows goodness and topa knows this which is why she was so ready to forgive him at the end, and so does bortus

Kylden was giving a surgery at birth that changed his biological sex to the gender he identified with. He assumes every female will internally identify as male like him. That is why he pushes for it for their baby and rejects her when she does identify as female (the same as her biology). He can't imagine being female even though he biologically was because he identifies as male. So how can she? Does that invalidate him?. It is a great play on transphobe rhetoric.

Comparing to intersex is bad faith, a intersex is undefined, so a choice is necessary for health reasons, as the person can have a lot of organic complications if unsolved, this case is a forced assignment surgery to conform to moclan standarts, in fact the change her sex was harmfull to her mind, she was born healthy. This is about using the scalpel on children for political reasons, is not even a analogy but a direct example.

Yeah, exactly, the show is referencing the fact that in real life babies who are born intersex with both sets of physical genitalia characteristics are typically given surgery as infants in order to make their genitalia appear more normal, even though it can cause lifelong damage. All so everything can appear normal, it’s sick.

@@synder_sync7834 I don't believe in doing that. It's different from being a transgender. I believe children born like that should have the choice on what gender they are, & if they want to keep both part.
I know of a fanfic that talked about this. When the child's deformities where confirmed at birth & Drs offered the surgery they refused & decided to let the child decide. They used gender neutral colors & clothes etc for a few years then when the kid was older they let the kid picks it's own toys & other things, HE ended up figuring out he was a boy, but decided not to have the surgery because they didn't know if the boy parts worked or the girl & decided to keep them all as to not remove the wrong ones so that HE could have his own children 1 day.

Klyden was born female, but it is forbidden to have or be a female Moclan. In order to not be killed, all baby female Moclans are forced to become male.
Klyden was born female but is now (supposedly) happily and proudly male and wants their daughter to go through the same surgery he did to become male herself.
Bortus is incredibly against altering her now that the “ancient” human movie ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ makes him realize differences can bring different strengths and glory.
