There were two Roman towns we'd go to and go through the molehills for pieces of pottery and anything else of interest. Great fun and great days.

The minie balls were a historically significant bullet design. Blackpowder guns with rifled barrels got dirty VERY fast, to the point they couldn't jam the bullets down the bore. Huge problem having to stop and clean your rifle in the middle of a battle! The muzzle loader round ball shaped bullets had to be a tight fit so they would engage the rifling cuts in the barrel....
The minie ball has a hollow base so when fired, it expands to engage the rifling and get the proper spin to stabilize in the air. That allowed the bullets to be a smaller diameter, so they would be more easy to stuff down the bore of a dirty rifle.

I can't remember exactly, but I think the pocket knife would be a Camillus or Schrade.
Looks like a shadow pattern stockman or serpentine jack ( shadow pattern means no bolsters )
That broken " fixed blade " with the camo handle is a modern crappy flea market knife, available today for $10.
Frost cutlery is the most common brand for them ( sold on the cutlery corner knife show ).

That big pile of bullets would have been a great time to have an archeology/brick layers trowel. Seriously once you're used to digging with a flat bladed trowel, they're so much better for everything dig-related. I even use mine iver a normal gardener's trowel most of the time. You can be so much more precise, while at the same time removing so much more material.

All those broken bits of stove reminds me of this true story that happened to my grt. grt. grandpa's brother, James Samuel O'Donnell, Jr. The story has come down through the family, but it also made the papers at the time. It reads as follows:
The Dalles Times-Mountaineer, The Dalles, Oregon December 17, 1892, Image 1
Walla Walla, Washington Dec. 10 James O'Donnell, residing on Upper Dry creek, 10 miles from the city, had an unpleasant experience with giant powder. He was using the powder to dig a well. Thursday morning be found the powder was frozen up. Placing a stick on the stove to thaw, he sat down by the stove to read, when suddenly there was a terrific explosion, which knocked him off the chair onto the floor. When he recovered from his dazed condition he found the stove scattered all over a 10 acre field, no piece being larger than his hand, and the cabin almost as badly demolished. O'Donnell escaped injury.
Now our family thought he had the luck of the Irish to escape without injury. Maybe the fellows stove you found had a similar experience?! ha ha ha
