RAS MIC IS BACK , NOT A NEW CHARACTER BUT A WONDERFUL CHARACTER - YOU ASKED FOR A BOLT TUTORIAL SO WE DID IT. I GUESS COMMENT/LIKE/SUBSCRIBE IF YOU WANT TO LEARN TO BUILD YOUR IDEAS / SPREAD THE LOVE
I am 125% non technical and my MVP is almost ready. Done with UI/UX design with the help of bolt.new on the recommendation of Micky. Now learning basics of database set up and integration. Once I get that done right, we on the road baby. Cant wait. 🎉🎉. Thanks Greg for spreading the knowledge.
I love that Greg brought on Ras! I'm building an app as we speak for free. For starters, I have ZERO coding experience, ZERO tech experience and if I didn't run out of my 'free tokens' I would've had the app built last night.
This really is the future, i have managed to build my easy to follow regiment and it is avaibale in different laungues. I wish bolt was here 5 years ago lol
I think the only adv is that it runs online for people not wanting to install stuff. This doesn't seem like a killer product at all. tbh. It is more limiting not able to use on your local projects. Each hype cycle the hype words are getting worse. You want to stay up to date but you waste so much time on bad headline and bad intros.
I am non tech guy Greg & Ryan and thanks for making this Pod. I have been fiddling with Cursor and V0. From the last 2 days have been playing with Bolt. This thing is mind blowing
I use Bolt.new in conjunction with Cursor AI. I asked Bolt.new to implement my Figma files, and once it is implemented I copy paste it to my Cursor AI editor and keep refining it. I have the impressing that Bolt.new has a better overview on the whole project than Cursor AI.
The biggest issue I've been struggling with since getting into no code development, has been the backend side of things. My app called for user data storage, web hooks, and APIs. I know how get keys etc... but when building using these tools like Claude or v0, What I end up with is a feedback loop where the Ai doesn't;t understand how to build the app without the data or content to build it for. I've yet to find a good beginner video on how to set up backends for these apps, recommendations welcome. 🙏

The advantage of Bolt over cursor is that it provides infra as well. You just need to have internet connection and a device, you can use your phone as well.
i have seen some developers who have no coding idea but using cursor and gpt to create the saas project and making money! bolt would help them more faster now

I have the software itself which works perfectly but I don't know how to connect it to a website builder so that when people purchase they can actually log in to the software/create their account ect... Can you create a video going over start to finish from creating the app, the sales page, deploying it, user login, database ect...?
Yup, definitely need one! I've been suffering from the same problem from a couple of months and as a non-tech person its really hard to figure things out by myself.

I think bolt is really going to change how apps are developed. You can take an idea and get a very good mvp created in such a short space of time. The issue I'm finding with bolt though is that when you are working on the app for a few days, you spend more time reminding the tool what the feature should have been in the first place, even when you've spent a long time ensuring you've specified user flows and features in the first place. Is it possible to have a "feature reference" file that the tool can refer to when you ask it to implement a feature that was on the original plan for the app but it couldn't code out because of token limits? Also, DIFF will make this 1000% times better.
You guys paired up works great gang. I'm really enjoying bolt and trying to test what it is good at and what it isn't. It has a great future if it keeps going this direction.

I had exactly the same experience. Too much time + tokens needed correcting things that bolt changed. That were good before. Also very annoying not able to revert to earlier versions. Bolt has potential but needs to improve a lot more.

Hot take - Cursor was probably used in the construction of Bolt. Bolt will probably be used to create the next generation of app dev ai. This for me is the most mind blowing thing.
So then @gregisenberg and Ras Mif, once I’m done the prototype on Replit or Bolt, how do I transfer to Cursor to build the actual full app? Also Greg, Devin (AI Engineer), is also mind blowing. I have built a couple of projects. I would love to come on your show and show Devin and why it’s one of the best, if not the best, AI Engineer platforms out there!
unfortunately bolt is not much. its just a single prompt over suannet. it benefits from a very good starting prompt and REPL (stackbkitz)and then you’re getting what you’d normally get from a chat prompt. There is no code graph or understanding of your codebase like cursor. It’s basically a big hack on top of a prompt and no caching. Its one novel approach is using GNU change format like git for its tool calls it makes to update code which keeps the context window small. However that is also its weakness as it will hallucinate hard trying to update multiple areas in the code

People can built your solution with AI and use it for themselves. Simple as that
Mediocre SaaS will be gone in few years. People will only buy complex softwares that has good security and architecture like Photoshop, Adobe XD, Figma etc
Hot take - Cursor was probably used in the construction of Bolt. Bolt will probably be used to create the next generation of app dev ai. This for me is the most mind blowing thing.
I’ve had trouble with bolt installing basic npm packages
Ras is the man.
he really is
Would you mind sharing how you'd fix it each time you say you'd fix it with one line? :)
Do the apps built remain the property of Bolt?
Heck yes. Big sips on this one.
🏆 Cheers for sharing!
Are these softwares free to use or cost accruing .if cost accuring what's the cost?
I built this idea just with cursor for my own flux implementation using flux’s own API and nextjs.
Great podcast. This tools are awesome. Do you have video how to monetize those MVP made by AI to see if there is an interest?
You should link his socials and the tool URL, somewhere in the description I think
it's insane how fast we are moving
as an engineeer, I feel so safe.. hahah
hahah
It’s garbage
Every time I run out of credits, my entire build just disappears even after deployment. How do i carry on where i left off????? My code just vanishes?
So then @gregisenberg and Ras Mif, once I’m done the prototype on Replit or Bolt, how do I transfer to Cursor to build the actual full app? Also Greg, Devin (AI Engineer), is also mind blowing. I have built a couple of projects. I would love to come on your show and show Devin and why it’s one of the best, if not the best, AI Engineer platforms out there!
I wonder how many tokens yall used
How can it beat cursor, it doesn't even support to write code in dart :(
Can this work with existing files or no
How much does it actually cost to have a fully functioning app on the app store?
With all the connections for servers, protection and monitoring?
Its craaaaazzyyyyy I spent a decade learning to program and Im not here to FUN, my job is radically different in 4 years from now
Thanks... I have subcribe to learn..
unfortunately bolt is not much. its just a single prompt over suannet. it benefits from a very good starting prompt and REPL (stackbkitz)and then you’re getting what you’d normally get from a chat prompt.
