As a drummer it's nice to hear something that resembles how a bass player will actually play rather than chop blazing stupidity. Great job dan. This is really recorded well too. I have subbed keep it coming man!
Nice bass breakdown at 1:44. That upper neck sound on a 4003 with flats is where they shine. I sold mine and deeply miss it. Today I am playing only P basses
Wow, that tone with the flats is fab. You nailed it. It sounds very warm to my ears. Great video. Surprisingly good production for UA-cam!! Well done. I wouldn't mind getting one of these Rics if I could find one.
@@danfelixmusic2536 My Ric has rounds on it for harder stuff but you got me iginbking a change to flats might be da ting for me 1:43 is selling me on da idea of flats!
Production of video is better than your original attempts. Audio is great though as always. Well done with the Rickenbacker. Sounds like well a Ric with flats.
Just had another listen, it sounds really great in this musical context which is way better than someone just willing on a bass. That's boring, this is a good demo of how it sounds in a playing environment, Great work!
Wow, finally somone who plays the Ric as it was supposed to, not that high end overdrive shredding you see in most reviews, very solid low end bass! What gauge are the Sadowsky flats? I'm thinking about putting flats on my 4001 for a while.
Thank you for your kind words, Just keep it simple✌🎸 Not. sure what gauge is but I did have to file out the nut on. the D string just a tad to get it to sit and intonate.👍
I agree, sick of the shred fest Lemmy wannabes....Dave Brubeck's son, think his name is Chris, is a wild jazz bass player and he has used Ric with flats for decades. Check him out. Crazy good!
Dope bass man. That sound spl1ff worthy. Never heard a ric on reggae or jazz. Most Geddy stuff with a mic bridge pick up and that sound is wat I know. This video is gear man
The tone is warm and fat just like a Ric with flats. Which is a very good thing if you ask me. Pepper tones aplenty! Great video and nice playing indeed, I subbed to you sir. Look forward to the next one
I have always kept them flat in my Rics but my other basses are rounds. I agree there is something in the tone of flats that appeals. At least to my ears🤘😁
I prefer a P bass with flatwounds but hey if what you play is getting it done then that's cool. I hate the way rics feel like big trees around the neck.
You obviously never played a Ric. I have seen Jazz and p basses that go well over 10.5 to 11lb. They will put you in a wheel chair if you do enough gigs with th slumber round your neck.

Ric bass with flatwounds very jazzy.

Chris Brubeck is a great musician. He plays a 1969 Ric with tape wounds I think.
Fat n juicy! Saucy n sultry! That is one sweet sounding Ric. Nice playing too dude.
LMAO. Thank you Jimmy!
Ain't got a thing on a P bass.
@@handerson3263 I disagree on that. A P Bass is great but the Ric can do so much more

Perfect tone bro🤘🔥

Thanks Paul. I think it needs a lil scratchin wah guitar though!

I just miss flatwound sounds and tone..last time use was when I was a beginner during early 80s on a Greco bass

Man some of those old Grecos are actually pretty good
Flats go with Rics like peanut butter & jelly! Now try it with a (thin) pick and be prepared to smile.😀
Oh yeh. I totally agree. My cover of Mean Mr Mustard is Ric n pick. Sounds fab🤘😁
Can you please tell me what strings you have on this bass?
They are Sadowsky flats👌
1:40 you're not supposed to use dynamics on UA-cam man!! Seriously though, nice job that thing sounds great in your hands.
LMFAO!
