I wear prism, and it's getting worse. I feel like the prescription is making it easier for my eye to keep getting worse. IMO the prism should be exaggerated in order to strain the eye to work hard in the opposite direction, so it becomes fatigued, while the muscles for the other direction get stronger.
I was given 3-Dp prism to wear and after 3 weeks I saw with prisms the way I use to without prism. I then stopped wearing prism and re-adapted back to before prisms. What I’m doing now is wearing my prism wrong way round (frensel) prism as part of the exercise. Usually if watching TV, phone or PC. Thinking behind it is, if it can make my weak muscle weaker by taking the load of it, it surely can make it stronger by putting more load on it. I’ve been doing this for a month and results so far are pretty good. 👍
I came across this video because i suspect this has happened to me. I have a dominant eye and my weaker eye is becoming more exotropic i think ive been noticing it in the mirror more often and on video calls after 2 years wearing the glasses. They said they prescribed them to me to wake up my perception by tipping my world up slightly and i was to use them together with vision therapy which included VR games. I quite the vision therapy as i couldnt afford it anymore, after 6 months i count tell if i was making progress. My case is a difficult on though as i am now 38 and was born like this

I am here because I am wondering what a prism is. I have had a long time with my bad right eye vision effecting my whole vision by crossing over with my good eye. So basically this is the last resort and It's the first time in a long time I have seen straight without my vision going wonky.
I have prism glasses that i’m not sure what degree of correction it was for . After about 2 weeks my vision got just as bad as before if not worse. I feel ripped off, i spent 1000 dollars on these glasses and im not sure what to do
Unfortunately we cannot help about the expense on the glasses but can likely help improve the condition that caused you needing them to begin with and thus mean you may actually get to get rid of them. The first step would be to schedule a consultation to discuss your case specifically and to see what is possible for you. You can do so by visiting us at www.visionforlifeworks.com. Thanks for being here and looking forward to seeing you on the schedule!
I have small/medium minus with minor cylinder in a HI WRAP with 5d base out even with the guesstimate on 5d base out i have little to NO issues, its just slightly blurry, and the frames I have same Rx LESS wrap angle NON PROGRESSIVE is worse in blurriness but still no headaches! The regular prism tests can be easily skewed. Minor Strabismus/minor myopia , 9(NINE)mm bvd patient here
I got only horizontal Prisma of 1. It's not that bad but I have symptoms like pain, Reading Problems, anxiety in super Market. I want to train my eyes or get new glasses.
Hi there, If it is a choice of glasses 👓 vs training, then the clear answer is therapy as prisms will only increase over time, thus implying that you aren’t actually getting better. The only difference is insurance does not cover therapy and so it’s an out of pocket expense that thousands of people we have helped have found to be well worth it because what good is glasses if it only gets worse (stronger prisms) or you have anxiety? We are also better suited to help with the other symptoms you are experiencing and would be glad to consult with you wherever you are ready. Thanks for your comment.
I thought Yoked prisms for Saccadic intrusions is a form of therapy so you don’t need the prisms eventually. If not , what type of therapy is used in this case?
@@LaurenGiovina yea I agree and thought the same thing...but is that a good thing or bad? I feel like it's a bad thing because now I'm relying on it and I don't have the money or the desire to do vision therapy either
Well yeah lol, I just got my prism glasses two days ago. I’ve worn them my entire life to fix nearsightedness so I know that I have that. I’m saying when I wear my prism glasses everything is more blurry than my old prescription. I’m back to my old pairs until I can see about getting the prisms removed or altered
A few years ago I had retina surgery in my right eye that required a permanent sclera buckle. The location of the retinal tear was right temporal. After surgery, this left me with double vision that required prism glasses, 8 base out. For better comfort, my optometrist prescribed 4 base out for each lense. The problem I have is that I still have double vision when I look down and also when looking to my right side, but looking straight ahead, and also looking up, my vision is perfect. My doctor said there is no technology available to correct the lower/side double vision, only forward vision. I've always worn glasses for distance, and thankfully with these lenses they were able to restore my 20/20 vision. Perhaps I'm looking for lightning in a bottle, but is there anything that can be done with lenses to correct this problem?
I have prism glasses for “reading” but really for anything close up. But any how. I have chronic bad headaches, and I have tried the exercises for my prisms, and it made them worse and made it so hard to do anything just 2 minutes if that on one eye exercise gave me a migraine.
The prescription likely needs to be changed or eliminated by working to actually improve your vision which would then make the crutch unnecessary. Btw most people don't need prisms for long term use. If they did we wouldn't be so successful at eliminating it from people (adults and children) who were told they would have to wear them forever.
Hi Mahmoud, great news is that we work with patients from all over the world and have had patients from Egypt 🇪🇬! The first step is to schedule an online consultation with Dr Steinhauer to discuss your case and see if you are a fit for our program. You can schedule your consultation easily and quickly at www.visionforlifeworks.com. Looking forward to seeing your name on the schedule!
My daughter is in vision therapy and she's doing amazing. She can now move her left eye forward whenever she wants to. She can keep her eye forward for a long period of time now too. The therapist wants to try prisms and jump her prescription by 2.00. I'm concerned this is not the right path. My daughter is 9. You mentioned by doing vision therapy you teach the patient so they don't need to use prisms. Any thoughts?
I responded to this but somehow the response didn’t seem to have made it. Imo Prisms outside of the sometimes used therapy hand held prisms are unnecessary and counter productive.
Since I started wearing prism in 2017 I started at 2 base out for esotropia, I’m now 6.5 each eye for prism base out. Will it get stronger again next year?
Hi Kaee, just to set the record straight we do not practice medicine and thus do not engage in telemedicine. Okay.
