Welcome to the Grinding Lands. You need to kill (but capture is the best) to level up the areas. Slot in one level of Geologist skill to get double the monster drops because of a glitch they didn't bother to fix. Gather bones and mine. Those give a lot of research points, slightly helps in levelling areas and also give crafting materials.
Elder monsters will start coming out after each area is a certain level (4? Maybe 6?) There are also tekpered versions of the monsters. So remember to bring farcasters and have your item loadout(s) set to have one farcaster each time. Again, make sure your Guiding Lands equipment loadout(s) have at least one geologist jewel. It will save you time with farming monster parts as you need a fair amount for upgrades, augmentations and for crafting.
If you farm the event quest Farewell to Zinogre (skngle or multiplayer) you get dragknvein ores as fuel for the steamworks. Set steamworks to 10, do at least everyday for celestial print, and never worry about most health potions. I now have 9999 Mega potions, 2k+ Ancient and Max Potions, 9999 tranq bombs and 800 gournet vouchers and lots of other stuff. I only make sure my farm fertilizer is topped up to max for crafting Max potions and Life Powders on the field.
When you get the Special Assignment Sterling Pride, practice on HIgh Rank and regular Master Rank versions first. You will be in for a very, very, painful time if you don't even know how to fight the regular versions.

Zinogre is one of my fave monsters both in design and in fights. I always call him Thunder Puppy
Lunastra will only start appearing after you do that quest that gives you Temporal Mantle. That is why I kept telling you to do that quest line.

Also, the specific crackhead I am talking about can be lured out at Forest level 4.
