You may want to have it further away from your siding. Remember that hot vent exits out the back. It will stain your siding. Try smoking salmon.
Smoking meat is not a lost art in Texas! We live and die over smoking meats.
I have had the privilege of travelling for work to Romania for 26 years. Beech wood has a great flavour when grilling or smoking food. It also makes great furniture.
Afumatul românesc este cel mai bun

In Germany we had a smoker in a Ground smoke house -
My first impression was a narrow out house. Tee-Hee. Then a smoker. Absolutely beautiful!
X2
LOLOLOL great comment.
To keep the drawers aligned why not put battons attached to the concrete floor, so the wheels can't wonder.
Maybe build an upper cabinet for your new table, like a hutch with a backing that goes all the way down to the table surface . The extra storage will come in handy and it will solve your problem with debris falling behind.
You could also add a tool storage peg board.
That's a great idea! Maybe even a peg board area mid way up to hang any hoses etc.
There will be tools in the workshop but there will always be some tools that could stay in the barn as well, no need to run back and forth all the time !@@wenzel7401
Great idea!!
This is to store feed for the animals...it isn't a workbench. Although a cabinet or shelf above might be handy for supplements, medications, treats, scoops, leads etc. Al is quite capable and imaginative when designing options for his workshop. I was especially intrigued by his drill storage in his workshop at the old homestead...and the rollaway work tables. I can hardly wait to see the improvements in his new workshop.
Al it's a set of drawers in a shed don't overdo what it looks like 😊
Finish it using a whitewash technique but with a brown paint. That will simulate the patina of an antique barn cabinet
A small suggestion (based on experience): Perhaps consider placing the smoker away from a building. I found that the emitted smoke will adhere to and stain anything next to it (in your case, your beautiful siding). BTW. great storage bench design!
I would have left space at the workbench for a chair for you to sit when doing drawings etc.
@@dougbrobst3178 - Someone else mentioned having a toe-space at the bottom for comfort while standing there for an extended period of time. My response then and now, are that’s appropriate for a different type of workbench. You’ll only be standing in front of this bench for a brief period, to maybe mix some feed types or add some medication into the feed.
The workbench in the workshop building, or one of the probable multiple benches, should be designed for extended standing or sitting while working on a project or other slower assembly.
My everyone has opinions on someone else’s shop and or barn..I like watching what Al & Gina come up with each episode..so I give no advice unless Al asks us…imo
FYI Lumnah Acres…you’re still having issues with people being unsubscribed to the channel..I’ve had to subscribe like 15 times in the last two weeks..but not to worry I check each video when I hit the like button lol I hope UA-cam fixes this issue soon 👍
@@miketremblay3825 ~ I wonder what's causing that because I hear it frequently. I've never been unsubscribed from any of my subscribed channels. Weird, huh?
Unwavering dedication and humility make you a standout. Congrats!
Al, you’ve mentioned before your prior work experience in the furniture industry, and it shows in this workbench and the roll out containers. The fit of those containers to the bench is more like a piece of fine cabinetry than a barn workbench and feed storage unit. I’m impressed! It’s practical and functional with an artistic craftsman style.
No toe kicker at the bottom....sore toes and hard to stand in front for any amount of time. JUST SAYING.
I’ll stand, or sit, at my workbench in my shop for hours at a time, and there is a toe space or the leading edge of the lower shelf available for my feet, but at the feed workstation/workbench in the barn I probably don’t stand there for more then two or three minutes. Different benches with different purposes. But your comment is probably a good reminder for Al, when he gets around to building the workbench(s) in the workshop.
Ireland republic of.
Hi folks, what do you think about painting the drawer fronts the dark blue like the cabinets in your harvest house? I think that would look sharp!
You should check the center leveling bolt, since you raised the end one to get it level, the center one could be floating in the air. When you start putting stuff on the top, it will cause the center to sag.
you could spray them with a grey tinted epoxy similar to the walls to hide the gap differenced etc.
Finish you used on the goat barn. Pretty easy to apply.
Very nice work on that bench and bins. If you spend a lot of time doing things on that bench you may find yourself kicking the bins since there are no "toe-kick" cutouts.
Good morning Al and Gina, your barn build looks awesome! I think an antique gray wash stain would look very nice in a barn setting. Oh and your coffee is fabulous!
Or "coffee stain" !! 😅 just kidding.
Since your going to have more pigs! My recommendation is to make salami, pepperoni sticks! Loving that smoker!
It took me a little bit but I figured out that it was a smoker before you got it unwrapped. The roof is what gave it away for me. That’s a very nice and well built smoker. I can see why you were so excited to finally get it delivered.
Wow AWESOME Smoker!!! How exciting Al and you are having a blast with that smoker. Like a kid with a new toy LOLOL. Many of us out here are maybe a bit "jealous"??? I am so excited for you on your new Smoker. God Bless.
You two make such a great team.
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Good for you. Stunning workmanship.
You have become quite the craftsman 👍🏽🌱
Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all the Lumnah friends and extended family.
Goooooood mooooorning, AL, Gina and Olivia, fellow viewers and all my friends Hoodie from Jamaica 🇯🇲
That smoker is so nice looking, it is like functional art.
For your barn cabinets you can easily “age wood” with white vinegar and steel wool.
Thank you SO much for another fantastic video and the restored CC!!!!
Truly enjoyed Al’s obvious excitement and sheer delight with the new smoker!!!
Your bench and that smoker are both beautiful and impressive 👍👏🤎
I read an article on how to age wood with vinegar, steel wool and tea. Sounds safer than burning. I’m with you Gina not indoors.
Good morning Lumnah family from a cold but sunny Pacific NW. We have hail and snow on the ground but the sky is blue and the sun is shining. Good morning viewers. That was great that you leveled the workbench and secured it to the back wall. With the trim put on and all the drawers on it looks fantastic! I'm enjoying my "In the Woods" coffee this morning. I haven't a clue what it is! Smoker? Wow, that's fancy. I thought you'd build your own smoker. I hope it works well. I stay away from stuff with electronics. I think old school is best. I'm glad you're so excited. It does look nice. I'd try a spatchcocked chicken. I did that one Easter on my little smoker that someone gave me. It was delicious. Another Easter I made three pork shoulder roasts, one on each rack in my little electric smoker. Those were wonderful too. I wrapped them in foil for the last couple hours and sprayed them with apple cider vinegar every hour before I wrapped them. I think you'll really enjoy the smoked meat. My grandpa built a smokehouse at his farm that looked like your new one. I stayed out of it because it had black widow spiders in it. Thanks for this video Lumnah family.
Good details to know, Kathryn - thank you and hello!
I used to get smoked cheddar off the wheel and smoked pepperoni from the Brick Store in Bath. Yum!
Hurray. Glad to see everyone is ok.
Goooooood Morning Randy thanks for hanging in there
@LumnahAcres Hi Al & Gina . I agree you should mount the Smoker on a cement pad, also strap it to a structure to protect against the wind blowing it down. Tske care !
Better put a screen over the round holes,(also the chimney) to keep out mud divers bees from making a nest in them. Do you think it will bring animals to the smell of the meat cooking,(like bears, and things)?
If smoker attracts, theirs more opportunity to soon have another need for Smoker, better then than when no-one's at the ready !
Can make a bear rug for the floor!!
Im not so sure that bees will be so keen or yellowjackets , if y’all have seen bee keepers, they smoke bees to make them docile before handling or harvesting, similarly with Yellowjackets. Mesh screens maybe a good precaution. I’m sure the coyotes, mousse, deer and bears will enjoy the smell of smoking bacon!
I’m sure Al will have seen the wildlife snooping around and hatched a cunning plan, before it’s a problem.
Magnets, magnets magnets. Hey Al, this is Ed from New Jersey. You should try using some Neo magnets on your storage bins so they automatically align when you push them in place. Just a thought.
Your new device is beautiful. And you feed cabinet looks like furniture!
Suggest you put something on the side that exhaust to the barn to prevent staining on the barn wall. ya think ?
i was wrong on my first guess but once revealed it was my second guess. It is a real beauty.
Awesome job Al and Gina. It never ceases to amaze me at all the wonderful work you both do for your homestead! Can’t wait to see what is next!
VERY HAPPY for ya' Al!
ENJOY the fruits of your labor.
It's a workbench! It needs no finish because time and use will finish it naturally. You've got other fish to fry.
I was thinking that it was a huge bird house then an small outhouse, give it up at a time machine and boy I was wrong lol🤣😂🤣😂
Good morning, and have a wonderful day
smoked cheese...is a massive thing in central and eastern Europe. Think smoked mozzarella (provolone) Cold smoking of many meats & fish. As a professional chef I have smoked whole sides of salmon but we used TEA, Lap-song suchon specifically to make a really delicate succulent smoked salmon. Yes you do need to salt the fish for 2-3 days before smoking in order to preserve it correctly. BUT trout and eels are not only popular but fantastic eating too! Good luck and bon appetite
Love seeing the work you do together
My first thought was a beehive. Beautiful smoker
lol i thought it was a 1/2 scale mini out-house at first. thats a very cool smoker.
Good smoker nice it being on rollers so can be brought into shed when not in use
You may want to use the "stain" that you used on your animal shelters to age the wood.
I'm glad it's back up so I can share it ...
You need to tune into Stephen Reichlin. The art is not lost just moved south where we can cook all year round.
ok Al, you made me fast forward to see! That is awesome!
Good morning, AL, Gina, and Olivia from Tucson AZ. Have a great day!!
Goooooood Morning Laurie
Think about a smoke stain on your barn above the smoker! As you use it the smoke will accumulate on the siding.
Al, you might want to cover those vents on your smoker when not in use. The bees and mud dabbers will find it handy for nest building. Cold smoking is best for a deep flavorful smoke. Pores will open wide and the meat doesn't cook.
Good luck with your new toy. Best wishes from NC
The cabinets turned out awesome! Love the personal branding on the smoker, it adds a certain flair to the machine..lol 😂 It looks fantastic, but I'd move it away from the building, smoke and sustaining of the metal and such. Love ya'll ❤️
Love your New Hampshire mug. Looks like a larger mug. Wish you would sell those
MY FAVORITE NH OFF GRID UA-cam FAMILY!
Good evening AL, Gina , Olivia and subscriber friends! I pray everyone has a blessed day and week ahead. 😁👍🏼
Hi there, CC my friend! Thank you for your good wishes - the same to you!
I love the natural wood color!! Stain the feeder bin with a clear stain?
That is cool!!!!
It appears that the smoker will be really handy... as well as a good looking. My compliments. 🥰
Keep in mind that smoke coming out of the smoker will get smoke resin all over anything near it so you might want to opt for a different place.
Goooooood morning Lumnah family and friends! ☀️😃
Dear Al and Gina the table looks so good I wood put Stain on it The Barn is looking so good I wish I could be there to help you. I wood help my dad with everything he did I lost my dad 2009 .Then I lost my mom 2010. I used to do woodwork but I don’t do that anymore I loved doing it so much You and Gina take care. Love Bobbie
@User-bm2tx8nu5r ... Should be: "I would"... NOT I "wood"
I think you may have problems with the way you have levelled the bench. I noticed that the bench top is not seated down onto the frame at the back left of the frame thus you have it levelled but won't be if something heavy pushes the bench top down! hope this helps :)
It is seated and also fastened.
Oh my apologies I thought I was addressing Al the person who built it and can look at the place I’ve pointed out 😉
No Graham Al showed level was used, now your assuming a lack of skill, and that forces our reply, a UA-cam video showing everything step by step would be unwatchable due to boredom, Al addressed leveling then securing and your notating not seeing what was lost in editing being inadequate for flow of the video !
Stop, Look and Listen before assuming imperfections !
Black latex paint with chalk paint additive, wax heavy the edges and paint the color you like with the chalk additive. Scrape the wax and now it looks old and worn.. I do this to some of my furniture I make.
Morning! Love the work bench.
That is one bodacious smoker!! So cool.
Nice smoker
Happy Birthday Al... Have a great one!
Up in the Mitten where I'm from we're dealing with 72° weather. but tomorrow all hell's going to break loose
Looks great Al & Gina 👍😎 love the new cabinet in the new barn awesome look to it …
This workbench turning out so nicely! The bins are really neat, and the wood is beautiful.
I would be excited about your delivery, too. It opens up so many possibilities for food storage and preservation. Apple wood chips work make incredible bacon. Your logo is a nice touch.
Hi Al& & Gina. Nice work in the barn the bench looks ideal & the smoker will give great food.
That looks like a Rolls Royce Snmoker Al,. Our favourites to smoke are Trout ,German type sausage which we buy from our local Farmers market just regular spiced but not smoked , Brisket of beef which has been soaked in brine with added pickling spices. We use Apple ,Maple apple and oak chips locally or made our selves but we have used Mesquite and Hickory which we buy .Youve got yourself a new hobby but beware it's addictive, Goodluck and enjoy.
That is a VERY slick looking smoker. You won't get any work done near the smoker with all the good smells coming out, you won't be able to concentrate!!
I built something similar (simpler) a few years ago that uses a fish tank pump. Hooks directly up to our Traeger for cold smoking or additional smoke that our Traeger won't provide. Very nice stainless steel unit there.
Gooood morning Lumnah's! " The lost art " of quality smoked food is definitely lost on the fast food paced US! We are almost as excited as you ( if that's possible ). Thanks so much for sharing.
Great outcome
I like how it looks now. I would just put a varnish or a finish product on it. That's it.
Finish it with hardwax oil. Easy to apply coats in the future if need be. And looks amazing!
Take care happy family.
Good Morning. Have a great day!
Afternoon to you all ❤ cant wait to see what you've bben waiting to arrive for a year.... Exciting 😊 have a lovely day ❤️
Good afternoon Lumnah family 💜
Omg a SMOKER!! Absolutely ❤ it! Yes, am envious. I have an old small round charcoal grill I use as my smoker.
We are so glad you got your smoker Very neat to have.
That's the best smoker I have ever seen. So excited to see what you all are planning make first! Your coffee is soooooo good!
Good morning Lumnah's. The storage bench is awesome! I have something, though much smaller, in the greenhouse for soil, peat, etc. Like the idea of an upper cabinet but if that is more than you need, a framed pegboard might be useful. It could also be equipped with hooks and shelves. What can I say, the smoker is furniture quality. Will be waiting somewhat impatiently for the first use. An idea for your barn doors to temporarily keep them from being affected by the winds. How about a couple of old tires on the outside against the doors? Easy to place, easy to move and no fasteners for the short time you need them. Have a great day and thank you for taking us along on your journey. It is you who are a blessing to us.
Good Morning Al and Gina!☕️🌞✨️
well dang!
I was hoping it was a giant birdhouse! 😉
My first guess was some kinda new bee hive... then a smoker lol.... And I agree with someone farther down in the comments... build a hutch on top of your newly installed table bin area. It will come in handy for all those little things you need for your animals. P.S. I hope you are planning on running water in some form or fashion to your barn... it will keep you from hauling water every day for all your animals. ♥ P.S.S. Try to find Alder to smoke with. It's something I never see used anymore. My grandfather had a smoke house and everything was smoked with alder. Washington state. I don't know if ya'll have alder up there in your neck of the woods. But man is it a good smoke wood.
Alder is awesome, as well as many wood from fruit-trees, apple, cherry come to mind.
AL that beard is coming along brother, looking sharp my Friend 😁👍🏼
You need to be a distributor. I bristled at your statement about free electricity. Nothing is free. Especially considering your huge investment in all that equipment that needs replaced every 2 decades.
Totally jealous! That’s a beautiful smoker!
Definitely excited for you ,have fun with your new smoker🇨🇦🤗☕️
The smoker is beautiful. I agree about the smoke leaving a residue on the building surface but not sure how much it would effect it.
Great smoker! What a great way to safely smoke , dehydrate, and preserve so much of your own grown meats and veggies! You could dehydrate foods up to 25 years! Check out some backpacking groups for full meal preps! So exciting. Gina and you will be great with this!
You hvae a great smoker, parking where you have it you will also have a smoke shop, also needs to have some protection from the elements to maintain its near perfect construction. Need to put a sand bag in front of the barn doors so they don't sail out in a fickled wind untill you get the latches and lower guides.. You, Gina and family are a real inspiration for thouse who dream of having a life style such as yours.
I don't speak Romania, but my sister and brother-in-law love going there for their holidays, therefore I did think the writing was Romania based on all their videos and photos. Glad I guessed correctly. 😊
Almost every road seems to have a cafe or similar along it using BBQ for their meats
