    Thank you for this video! Binging on them now...a total newbie and would guess a 1 project and done girl! Wanting to paint a childhood bedroom set that has been passed from me to my daughter to now my granddaughter!! It has been totally sanded to a very smooth finish by a family member that borrowed it for years. Really want to do it myself and keep it simple...so was thinking chalk paint 🤔 After watching this video was wondering between Annie Sloan or the Wise Owl...again looking for best for beginner. Thank you!! FYI...planning on light grey w satin finish.

      Hi. Thank you for watching! So first thing - with chalk paint the finish is typically a matte finish. With that being said, they do need to be sealed and you can add that satin sheen with your choice of topcoat. Both are great paints, but Annie was my first chalk paint and still my favorite for chalk paint. Their Paris grey or Chicago grey are beautiful light greys. Good luck with your project and happy painting!

      @@kborn9583 I personally like the cling on brushes and I order mine through wiseowlpaint.com. I used the Annie brushes when I first started and much prefer my cling on brushes now. As for topcoat - I stick with general finishes high performance top coat for all projects stain and paint. For my one on ones - here is the link! I would love to do one with you.

      Born in a Barn Boutique I’m curious about general finishes paint stains and topcoat I never worked with stains on large pieces but I’ve done it on frames and when I Started painting I thought stains were topcoat I am debating on if I need wax or if the stain and topcoat in flat is enough

      Sahra Lethgo I have a few videos on here about staining and different topcoats. Stains definitely need to be sealed. I don’t care to use wax on top of stain, you can. I personally use General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Satin. You can use flat but they say flat is not as good on wear (different compounds in the formula don’t make it as hard). If you go to GF website they have a great site of information on there.

    I would be curious if you have adjusted any of your picks in the last year.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому +1

      A little - I still love Fusion Mineral Paint, A newer pick is Melange ONE - I am a huge fan of this line. I still love General Finishes (I don't use as much but still in the top). The Chippy Barn is a good one still too and I use often. Don't use Dixie Bell much anymore. Still a fan of Wise Owl (haven't used lately, but the OHE is a great formula)

    LOVE your videos ! So inspiring and confidence-building information. I'm about to paint my (perfectly good) dark brown upper cabinets to a creamy white. Trying to decide the best product for a Satin finish and i "think" I'm going with Heirloom All-In-One but now I'm confused! Maybe I want to use General's ! Or.... Dixie Belle (?) you've given all these paints good reviews. Also, Do you have a favorite primer ?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      momstaxicac Thank you! Both are really good paints. Both don’t require a topcoat but a lot of people still topcoat GF. You have to be careful sealing white - it can yellow. I have only used Dixie Belle a few times, it’s very popular and I know many artists that use it. I just don’t have a ton of experience with it. My top paints are GF, Fusion and wise owl one hour enamel. I like GF stain blocker primer and BIN (red one)

    Which paint do you recommend for timber kitchen cabinets Tasmanian oak to be transferred To white/light color

      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому

      My recommendation would be a different product by General Finishes - Brushable White enamel - it’s a pigment water based wood enamel ideal for cabinets. It’s a 2 in 1 paint and topcoat. Visit www.generalfinishes.com for more info. It’s great if you don’t own a sprayer but gives you the same great coverage as their enduro poly.

    Where does the Jolie paint fall in your favorites paint category?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому

      I really like Jolie - I have used on a few of my projects after I did an in depth review on it. I don't have a retailer near me and I forget to order and have it here for projects when I need it sometimes! It's a very smooth, easy to apply paint, that I think I would use more if it were more readily available. They have a great website with lots of information and instructional as well. Sometimes I come up with a color choice and want to just go with it and not have to wait to order and ship, etc. Its a very nice quality paint with good color choices as well - as the matter of fact they are having 25% sitewide until 12/2.
